A mother of four from Felda Sungai Behrang alleged that police assaulted her four sons and two nephews aged between 16 and 27 while they were under police custody. The 39-year-old Siti Hazar Ngah Dinan said police have wrongfully arrested her sons and nephews for committing burglaries and robberies in Tanjung Malim and Shah Alam.
She was furious upon learning that police treated her sons and nephews badly while under police detention. Siti Hazar strongly believed that police have wrongfully accused them of the crimes.
She related the incident that happened April 13 when they returned to their rented house in Shah Alam after a late dinner. On the way home, Siti Hazar along with her four sons and nephews saw that someone was removing objects from an abandoned steel factory located in Section 15.
They then decided to check the factory out of curiosity. Surprisingly, the people who were there earlier to remove the items vanished when they stepped into the factory. Subsequently, a police car approached them and arrested the six youths for burglary.
When Siti Hazar saw them last Friday, she was shocked to see bruises on their necks, legs and chests. Apparently, they alleged that they were treated badly and were often beaten while under police custody.
Hence, Siti Hazar lodged a police report in Shah Alam police station. Meanwhile, the district police chief ACP Noor Azam Jamaluddin said they will investigate the issue without taking sides. But nevertheless, Noor Azam said they arrested the youths for burglary after police found the stolen goods including 17 laptops, 15 computer monitors, 18 television sets, a DVD player and camera printer as well as few speakers in the suspects' rented house at Section 24, Shah Alam.
