Ibrahim upset with GLC snub

Datuk Ibrahim Ali today expressed his disappointment with Malay heads of government-linked companies (GLCs) for not attending his Malay rights group, Perkasa’s inaugural congress.

The Pasir Mas MP criticised the GLC heads for being interested in personal interests instead of the interests of the Malay community.

“I am a bit disappointed. If you look at the Chinese chambers of commerce, they organised a seminar when they heard that the government was planning on a New Economic Model. When Datuk Seri Najib Razak came, all Chinese corporate leaders were present but look how weak we are. They are scared that, if they attend, then [their] reputation may be affected. That is a wrong attitude,” the Perkasa president told reporters after the congress here.

The Malaysian Insider reported yesterday that a number of Malay heads of GLCs and other corporate leaders from the community have declined invitations to attend Perkasa’s AGM.

It was understood that Perkasa had sent out invitations for their inaugural assembly beyond the typical right-wing audience as part of efforts to reach out and broaden its appeal.

GLC chiefs, retired politicians, Islamic clerics and former armed forces officers were among those invited to witness the birth of the organisation that was formed to defend the constitutional position of the Malays and the “social contract”.

Ibrahim said that Perkasa will monitor the GLCs and their roles in helping the Malay community.

“We will scrutinise the GLCs. We are not only looking at their performance but also the role they play in helping Malay entrepreneurs.

“The GLCs have helped many of the English papers but do not give any opportunity to the Malay dailies. They only help New Straits Times and The Star. That is why I mentioned Utusan (Malaysia) because the paper has defended Perakasa. Utusan is willing to defend Malay rights when other papers just want to play safe,” he said.

Ibrahim added Malay dailies were important in promoting Malay culture.

“What is wrong with supporting Malay dailies? They can help strengthen the use of Bahasa Melayu. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has also told me that he will look into why Petronas and Proton do not give any room for Malay dailies,” he said.

The independent lawmaker also told the government not to capitulate to demands from the Chinese community, and instead, asked Umno and PAS — as the major Malay parties — to unite for the sake of the community.

He said it will take the two-year-old movement another two years to unite the Malays but added unity could be achieved faster if the two political foes worked towards bringing together members of the race.

Police has ensured lesser crimes in first 2 months of 2010

Tan Sri Musa Hassan, the IGP (Inspector General of Police) reported that there has been reduced crime in the country by 13.2% in this year’s first 2 months as compared to 2009 with the presence of police on duty in crime-related hotspots. This has been contributed with the co-operation between the Civil Defence Department, volunteer movement RELA and the police force which contributed to the result. He said “This is an achievement for us as we have worked hard. We will continue to take the lead in ensuring the National Key Result Areas to reduce crime by 20% is achieved by end of the year.

About 20,000 police personnel had been assigned to the hotspots in accordance with the Prime Minister’s government transformation programme. Not only can they be used as patrol vehicles, they can also serve as a mobile command centres for police operations and in times of emergency,” He added that “These measures had not only helped police tackle crime more effectively but also restored the public’s confidence in the police force. The fight against crime was not only on land but also at sea where the marine operations force had excelled. The force had 2,470 personnel deployed in 39 bases nationwide — 25 in the Peninsular and 14 in Sabah and Sarawak — to safeguard Malaysian waters that stretched up to 200km in some areas. There were 156 marine operations sectors nationwide which were aimed at preventing smuggling and other illegal activities. We have a remarkable track record over the past 15 years including arresting and prosecuting offenders as well as seizing goods brought in illegally. In 2009, the marine police made 3,752 arrests and seized illegal goods worth RM34mil while in 2008 a total of 4,128 arrests were made and RM30mil worth of goods seized,”

Karpal challenges Zul Noordin on ‘third force’ claim in Altantuya murder

DAP National Chairman Karpal Singh today challenged Kulim Bandar-Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin to reveal the names of those who allegedly ordered him to implicate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, in the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Karpal, in his speech in Parliament earlier today, questioned Zulikifli’s motives.

He asked why Zulkifli had waited for four years to drop the ‘bombshell’.

“I challenge the Kulim Bandar-Baharu MP to state who this third force is? The people who allegedly told him to implicate the PM and his wife in the murder.”

“Why now, after four years?” asked Karpal.

Karpal, who is Bukit Gelugor MP, challenged Zulkifli to reveal the names of the supposed “third force” without parliamentary immunity and dared him to make a police report.

“I challenge him to reveal this third force outside of Parliament. I challenge him to make a police report. If it is not true, he can be charged in court for false reporting,” said Karpal.

Yesterday, during his inaugural speech as an Independent MP, Zulkifli told Parliament that he was one of the lawyers involved in the murder case, and that he withdrew from it because there was a “third force” behind the scenes.

Initially, he was a lawyer for Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, one of the three accused.

“I was asked to implicate the prime minister and [his] wife in the murder case. I was asked to get their sworn statements and I was asked to make a sworn statement,” the Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP had told the Dewan Rakyat.

“The reward that was offered could definitely shake one’s faith, so I withdrew from acting on the case because there is a third force acting on the case,” he said.

Later on, Zulkifli scoffed at Karpal’s open challenge.

“Karpal? He can go naik kapallah! He is a dinosaur who is past his shelf life,” said Zulkifli.

Razaleigh is K’tan’s spokesman for oil royalty issue in Fed Govt

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the Member of Parliament of Gua Musang has been appointed by the Kelantan state government as the representative to the Federal Government in any discussions arising on the oil royalty for Kelantan. Datuk Husam Musa, the Chairman of the State Committee on Financial Planning, Economy and Welfare said that the state government made the decision at the state executive council meeting which was chaired by Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, the Menteri Besar of the state.

He said “The meeting also decided that Tengku Razaleigh, who is also the Member of Parliament for Gua Musang, should try to resolve the issue on the state’s claim in four months. The appointment did not involve any payment from the state government and was based on Tengku Razaleigh’s agreement to be the mediator in resolving the oil royalty issue which had been dragging on between the state and federal governments.”

I am resigning, on second thoughts, I am not - MCA assemblyman of Titi Tinggi Yip

Yip Sun Onn who created a stir in the media yesterday when he announced his resignation as the Titi Tinggi assemblyman has since made a U-Turn and withdrew his resignation. Yazid Mat, the Perlis Speaker confirmed that Yip has sent him a SMS (Short Message Service) that he is retracting his resignation letter. Yazid said “He is still the state assemblyman for Titi Tinggi. You do not have to worry about that,” He added that “In the text message, Yip had said that he had thought things through thoroughly and had decided to withdraw his resignation. His seat is not vacant.”

When pressed further, he said “I am very tired. I think what I said is enough. The seat is not vacant,” This came in light after the Yip, who is the chairman of the Padang Besar MCA announced that he has submitted his resignation letter to Yazid because he was not happy for not being re-elected into the state cabinet which sparked off speculations that a by-election is underway. Datuk Seri Md Isa Sabu, the Mentri Besar of Perlis was reported to have tried to talk Yip out of resigning. The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who was in Hong Kong too announced that Yip has since retracted his resignation letter and hence it will not take effect.

Zulkifli Noordin, the independent Member of Parliament of Kulim-Bayan Baru who made the sensational claim that he was once ordered to link the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to the murder case of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu when he was still with the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) said that he will be meeting the Prime Minister to apologize to him for the mentioned plot. He said that apart from Najib, he will also be meeting some other individuals who were alleged to be involved as well.

He said "I've met some of them, talked to them and apologised for the role I might have played in the plot to discredit them. Thankfully, they accepted it in good faith. I will also see (the prime minister), that is if he wants to see me. The victims would not want to be humiliated. In Islam, we should not humiliate others but try to find solutions to a problem. We are bound by ethics. Things that we don't want said in the Dewan Rakyat we won't say them outside. At this stage, I don't think it is necessary to say anything more. Now I can sleep in peace. I feel that I'm now relieved of a burden, especially the things about the prime minister and Nazri."

Soi Lek thanks Pakatan for not targeting sex scandal

Former MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has commended the Pakatan Rakyat for not using his sex scandal against him, unlike his own party members.

He expressed thanks to the opposition for not expounding on the controversy, saying that he had the highest respect for them because of this.

“None of the Pakatan Rakyat parties have used this scandal against me. That is why I have the highest respect for them,” he said in an interview with the media yesterday.

The party president hopeful slammed the members of his own party for having used the issue as their weapon, pointing out the bitter irony of how they were willing to defame him while the opposition had not.

“It is my own party members who have been using this against me, for fear of my advancement within the party,” he claimed.

Dr Chua (picture) said that he was also resigned to the fact that his tainted past would forever come back to haunt him, although the incident had ended long ago.

“I have come to accept the fact that this is an issue that my enemy within the party or opponents within the party will continue to use to whack me.

“This is why I must thank the opposition. Because hardly anyone used it against me,” he said.

He also praised the opposition for maintaining political decorum and ethics.

“You notice that one of their colleagues also had a similar problem? But do they ever use it again? Did they use it after that? She took one month’s leave and then when she came back, nothing happened,” he said.

Dr Chua was referring to PKR’s Bukit Lanjan assemblyman, Elizabeth Wong and her nude photo scandal.

Dr Chua is contesting for the party’s president post during the coming polls on Sunday and will compete with incumbent president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and former president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting in the fight.

Zahrain hits back at Ghapur for claiming he told lies in Parliament

Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim, the independent Member of Parliament of Bayan Baru has hit out at Datuk Abdul Ghapur Salleh, the MP of Kalabakan who told him to reveal the 30 names whom he claimed to be interested in ‘crossing over’ to the Pakatan Rakyat when opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wanted to take over the Federal Government in 2008. Zahrain had earlier named Abdul Ghapur as one of them where the latter has since denied and called Zahrain a liar and demanded him to retract his statement.

Zahrain said “I am surprised that he reacted in this way and turned it into a personal attack towards me. He accused me of quitting because I could not procure a project, because I had a protruding stomach. I don’t understand this, when I tried to explain in Parliament, he did not let me explain. I was just giving reasons why I left the party. Sept 16 was an example. If I were to remember what Anwar had told me, it was 34 to 40 MPs. The eight names were what I remembered when I was making my speech. There are more names. I have no bad intentions against Kalabakan; I know he is close to Anwar. I was upset about Sept 16, but the last straw for me was when I was referred to the disciplinary committee. My intention was to reveal why I left the party, so I made Sept 16 as the example. For me the challenge to reveal the names is irrelevant. Why should I say sorry? I just told them what Anwar told me. If you want to be angry, be angry at Anwar,”

Apart from Abdul Ghapur, he also named the following as those who were going to defect. They are Dr Puad Zarkashi (Batu Pahat MP), Datuk Anifah Aman (Kimanis), Datuk Eric Majimbun (Sepanggar), Tengku Datuk Seri Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar (Jerantut), Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Gua Musang), Datuk Chua Soon Bui (Tawau) and Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (Kinabatangan).

Burning Utusan Malaysia is like an insult to the Malays

Datuk Mohamad Aziz, the BN (Barisan Nasional) Member of Parliament of Sri Gading slammed those involved in the burning of the Malay newspaper Utusan Malaysia saying that the act done by the Malays as an insult to the race itself because the newspaper, which is seen as the official organ of the Malay community in their independence struggles was then considered a noble media but have recently been humiliated by the Malays. The Backbencher said "I wish to ask the Malays who had burnt the Utusan Malaysia several weeks ago whether they were aware that their action was most insulting to the Malays. Utusan Malaysia was established 73 years ago in the year 1937. It was the official organ of the Malays in demanding for the country's independence, this was the newspaper that educated the Malay mind to move forward. Do the Malays want to insult a newspaper that had contributed significantly to the progress of the Malays?"

Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Bung Moktar Radin, the Kinabatangan BN MP added that "Here, we are not defending anybody, but we are stating that the truth remains the truth. Could they have been influenced by the non-Malay leaders?"

73 years establised and Utusan is being insulted? What a shame indeed. 73 years ago, Utusan was a noble Malay paper. Now Utusan has become a racist daily, only to aim on inciting trouble to Malaysians as a whole.

You claim it publishes truth?? Correction, it publishes twisting and manuplation of news reportings so that Malays will hate the other races. A media that would not help the PM achieve his 1 Malaysia.

I was told to link Altantuya’s murder to PM and wife – Sacked PKR MP Zulkifli Noordin

lkifli Noordni, the Independent Member of Parliament of Kulim-Bandar Baharu made a sensational claim in Parliament when he said that he was asked to link the prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to the death of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.

The lawyer who was once involved as a defence lawyer for Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri did not disclose who was responsible in telling him to do so. He said “I myself was asked to make a sworn statement that both of them were involved.

The rewards offered for doing that could have shaken my faith. I discharged myself from the court case because there was an attempt by a third party to interfere in the case. How can the two accused be willing to be sentenced to death if it was true that both the Prime Minister and his wife were involved in the murder? I’m sure they would have revealed it if this was true. The Prime Minister had sworn on the Quran denying his involvement with Altantuya. I was asked to ensure that Nazri’s son was connected to the murder case. I thank Allah that I managed to stay away from such things,”

Kalabakan MP slams Zahrain for telling lies in parliament

Datuk Abdul Ghafur Salleh, the Umno Member of Parliament of Kalabakan has slammed Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim, the independent MP of Bayan Baru for lying in Parliament. Zahrain named Ghafur as one of the 8 BN (Barisan Nasional) MPs who are ready to defect to the Pakatan Rakyat when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the opposition leader planned to take over the federal government on September 16, 2008.

Calling it a blatant lie, he demanded Zahrain to retract his claims and name those who were ‘planning to switch sides’. He said "I'm not someone who jumps party. Ever since I am in BN, I have never jumped. I am not one of those being asked to defect. Why involve me? I am not at fault. I want him to retract his statement and apologise. In 1985, I was a Berjaya candidate. PBS wanted to buy me. I refused. If I leave a party, it is because I do not agree with the top leadership, not because of money. Maybe they (the BN parliamentarians) do not defect because the bait offered to them is not enough.

But for Bayan Baru, the bait must be huge. After two years, he decided to do this (to quit PKR). Why wait until two Sept 16s pass by. Why not a long time ago? He forgot that when he was in Penang, he asked for something and he did not get it to the point that he called somebody a communist. Can I call someone a communist here in the Dewan? I think not, this is wrong according to regulations. Now that he is fat and full, suddenly all these things come out."

He also called on Umno not to accept Zahrain into the party because if he can turn on his former leader Anwar, then he can also do so to his next leader. “If he comes into Umno, people from Umno may leave. Berita Harian, TV1, TV3 and Awani, all must carry my statement with the same wide coverage they gave Zahrain or they may be seen to be in cahoots (with him)."

Home Ministry won’t tolerate any ‘third party’ interference in police force

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, the Home Minister warned that the ministry will not tolerate any sort of third party interference with the police force as claimed by the IGP (Inspector-General of Police), Tan Sri Musa Hassan who made the sensational claim during an interview with Utusan Malaysia. Hishammuddin said “Such matters of interference should be reported to me,’’

He also denied knowing anything about the ministry exerting influence on the force. He said “You have to ask him. As far as I am concerned, I make sure the allocations that they require are provided by the ministry. Of course, under the National Key Result Area, it requires a working relationship with at least eight or nine different ministries and nearly 13 agencies. The police alone could not do it by themselves and as such the ministry had to step in.” He also denied claims that there are some in the ministry who are not happy with the IGP’s performance where he said “I dont think so. He can make whatever comments he likes. The issue here and the most important thing is to move forward,”

Opposition MPs lash out at Defence Minister for ‘defending’ traitors who leaked information

Members of Parliament of the Opposition front slammed Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Defence Minister for allegedly defending the ‘traitors’ who were found to have leaked information to a foreign embassy recently and said that a Royal Commission of Inquiry should be set up to investigate the Defence Ministry and to reveal those who were involved. Saifuddin Naustion, the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) Member of Parliament of Machang slammed Zahid for ‘defending’ the people involved and that they should not be regarded as traitors because of their involvement in a ‘turnover’ operation. He said “The minister should reveal who the traitors are. Punitive action must be taken against them, as this is a serious offence that undermines national security,”

Zahid had earlier said that “Those involved could not be exposed for security reasons as they were now helping the defence intelligence unit investigate espionage activities. It was not proper to expose the embassy involved in view of “comfortable bilateral relations” with the country concerned. The espionage issue was exposed recently to remind and sensitise members of the armed forces and the Defence Ministry against foreign operatives who may use them as targets to source information.”

Hishammuddin denies rift with IGP

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein denied there was a rift between him and the country’s top policeman Tan Sri Musa Hassan, following claims about a ‘third-party’ involvement in the police force.

Hishammuddin said there were no cracks in the working relationship between him and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

“Tak ada-lah (there is none). People are just simply accusing us,” he scoffed when asked by reporters about the alleged rift between the two men at the Parliament lobby on Tuesday.

Hishammuddin said that if Musa and he did not enjoy a close relationship, it would have not been possible for the ministry to carry out its National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) and Key Performance Indicator exercises.

“If we were not close, we would not have succeeded in reducing the crime rate or in carrying out the NKRAs.

“This shows that both of us do not have a problem carrying out our responsibilities and duties," he said, adding that, based on the achievements of the police force and ministry, such accusations were baseless.

Hishammuddin joked that if the media wanted to question him and Musa they could do so during the Police Day celebrations on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Musa also said there was nothing wrong with his relationship with Hishammuddin, adding that what he meant by “third party” involvement was based on reports in a Chinese daily that he had tendered his resignation.

“When I was asked about my resignation recently, I had told reporters that if the news did not come from an official source, then it was not true and if the speculation comes from underground source, then police will be in shambles.

“I merely quoted Section 4 of the Police Act by saying the administration of the police was under the command and control of the IGP and police officers so there should not be any third party trying to speculate this (talk of resignation),” he said.

Musa stressed that Hishammuddin and he were constantly in touch with one another as they were both responsible for the country’s security.

At the Parliament lobby, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to intervene and solve the rift between Hishammuddin and Musa.

“This crack must be mended. This is the first time in Malaysia’s history that there is a crack at the highest level between the IGP and the Home Minister.

“This should not be allowed to continue. There should be an immediate resignation of the IGP or the minister stepping down,’’ he said.

MCA’s Yip quits Perlis state seat

MCA’s Titi Tinggi assemblyman Yip Sun Onn has quit his Perlis state assembly seat, paving the way for a by-election.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Isa Sabu today confirmed that he has received the resignation letter but declined to elaborate.

According to the Star Online, the mentri besar is “trying coax Yip into withdrawing his resignation letter”.

Meanwhile, Perlis MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun claimed this afternoon that Yip’s shocking resignation was still unconfirmed.

“It is not finalised yet; all he has done is shown his intention to resign. I just received an SMS from him and apparently, things are OK now. I do not think he will do it,” she told The Malaysian Insider when contacted at 3.30pm today.

She believed that Yip was a mature leader and would know what to do and what not to do.

“I hope and I believe that he will not do it but at the moment what we need to do first is to sit down and discuss things,” she said.

She admitted however that she had been trying unsuccessfully to reach Yip since yesterday and was unsure of the reason behind the assemblyman’s resignation.

“I would like to know what is the real problem; whether it is merely because of his exco position or whether he has some other personal problems,” she said.

Yip was removed from the state executive council and replaced with Indera Kayangan assemblyman Dr Por Choo Chor during the swearing in of the new line-up last Friday.

Meanwhile, an MCA party leader confirmed with The Malaysian Insider that Yip’s resignation was indeed due to the latter’s dissatisfaction with his removal from the state executive council and claimed that it was Chew who was the culprit behind it.

The source claimed that the problem had stemmed from last year when Chew refused to endorse Yip’s post as a member of the state executive council since he was not in her “camp” at the time.

Chew, the Wanita MCA chief, has been one of the prominent leaders at the forefront of the campaign with former party vice-president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai to oust party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

“She even wrote to the mentri besar, saying that she did not want Yip to be an exco member. Then last year in February or March, after an MCA central committee meeting, she submitted a letter to the mentri besar saying that the MCA did not want Yip as an exco member.

“Instead, she offered Dr Por’s name as a replacement. When the mentri besar did not listen to her, she got angry and started saying that he did not respect the MCA CC’s wishes,” said the source.

Following that, the source added, an agreement was reached with Mohd Isa that Yip would be replaced with Dr Por in this year’s line-up.

“It was a mistake because she did not realise that Yip would eventually go over to her camp and Dr Por now supports (former MCA deputy president Datuk Seri) Dr Chua Soi Lek so she pushed all the blame to Tee Keat, saying that it was he who wanted to remove Yip from the council.

“And look now, Yip is angry and has decided to quit,” said the source.

Meanwhile, although Yip had submitted his resignation to the Perlis Speaker yesterday, party members are still trying to coax him into retracting his letter.

Efforts to contact Yip proved futile.

Anwar could not wait to become PM so that he can escape sodomy trial – Dr Puad

Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi, the Batu Pahat Member of Parliament slammed Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the manner by which he ‘tried’ to become the Prime Minister when he proclaimed that the Pakatan Rakyat will take over the Federal Government on September 16, 2008. Dr Puad said that Anwar ‘could not wait’ to try and become Prime Minister because he want to try and save himself from the sodomy trial. Dr Puad said “Anwar was willing to lie and ‘drop names’ to convince Barisan Nasional MPs, albeit in vain, to cross over before the Sept 16, 2008 deadline. He was probably desperate in view of the looming sodomy charge. He had tried to convince certain Barisan MPs to sign statutory declarations pledging to support him as prime minister. Anwar told me that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had agreed to swear him in as the new prime minister if 30 Barisan MPs had signed statutory declarations pledging support. He had also claimed that MPs from Sabah and Sarawak had already signed the declarations, but I refused,”

This came in light after his name was mentioned by Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohd Hashim, the Bayan Baru Member of Parliament who claimed that Dr Puad was those who agreed to Anwar that he will cross over to the Pakatan Rakyat pact. He added that “This shows that Anwar tells one thing to one group of people and another tale to another group of people. He is willing to lie to get what he wants,”

What else is those elected in UMNO good at ? SODOMEE OF COURSE ! Dont they feel ashamed that sodomee created by 2 PMs had shamed our country in the eyes of the world?

The pms should have hatched a different make-believe story like accusing that Anwar raped their wife or daughters to make it more realistic by getting to point a finger at Anwar rather than getting Saiful to accuse that Anwar fuc-ked his smelly backside !......

Tell you what, I would prefer death rather than to claim myself as a malay muslim, it's so shameful !!!

Anwar promised DPM posts to PAS, DAP, says Zahrain

Independent MP Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim (picture) said Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim promised to create three deputy prime minister posts for representatives of each Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component party, if he were to become prime minister.

The three, claimed Zahrain, were DAP’s Lim Kit Siang, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and one other person from Sabah or Sarawak.

He added that the plan was Anwar’s strategy to ensure that DAP and PAS leaders were “well-fed” with positions in the government and would then continue to throw their support behind him as prime minister.

The renegade MP told The Malaysian Insider in an interview last night that information of such an agreement, though unconfirmed, had reached him when he was still in PKR.

“You mean you did not hear of this? You should ask Anwar about what he promised Kit Siang and Hadi? He must have promised them something,” he said.

In an immediate reaction, DAP’s Parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang denied ever being offered the DPM post if Pakatan Rakyat captured Putrajaya.

“Anwar has never offered any post to me,” the Ipoh Timur MP told The Malaysian Insider.

Zahrain added that as the post of deputy prime minister was not provided for in the Federal Constitution, Anwar had every right to create as many deputy prime ministers as he wanted.

“You can create as many as you like, five, six, seven, 10. And mind you, the people would be paying for their salaries at the end of the day,” he said.

Zahrain added that without such an agreement, DAP and PAS leaders would not blindly support Anwar.

“You think they would support him for nothing? You mean they are going to say — ok, ok, we support you as prime minister but we do not want anything. Come on,” he said.

He added that knowing full well that pleasing PAS and the DAP would ultimately grant him his much-needed support, Anwar was willing to make all kinds of promises to PR member parties.

“He has to play juggling... he has to juggle the balls and one day he might drop some balls then at the end of the day, he has no balls,” said Zahrain, in jest.

He added that Anwar’s Putrajaya dream was not just a “want” or a “wish” but an “obsession.”

“That’s why I tell you, the country will go down if he actually takes power. He will promise everybody one thing and yet, deliver nothing. That is what he does — make promises.

“I am afraid if the PR succeeds in convincing the people and they become the government one day... because they (PKR, PAS, DAP) will eventually quarrel and then someone has to be subservient to someone else if the coalition were to work but who is going to give in? Definitely not PAS and DAP,” he said.

Zahrain said that the three PR parties were only standing together today for the purpose of taking over the government.

“There is a lot of hypocrisy in the PR. PKR is holding the balance now, that is true, but how long can they hold the balance between DAP and PAS? PAS wants hudud law. You think DAP will stand for that?

“Today, everyone is putting aside their differences until they take over the government and when they do, then suddenly one group will say, I want this, and another group will say, no, I want that. This is why it will never work,” he predicted.

Zahrain also claimed that Anwar’s promise game had even reached outside Malaysia, which was why the fiery leader had so much support from nations like the US.

“Anwar used (former Prime Minister Tun) Dr Mahathir (Mohamad) to get to them (the Americans). Mahathir’s Look East policy never sat well with them and Anwar made full use of that, as well as his sodomy trial, to garner support from them. He has promised the Americans that if he became the Prime Minister, they would be his partner,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zahrain also voiced his strong belief that the Barisan Nasional would win back its two-third majority in the Parliament come the next election.

“It is quite clear because the PR has lost its Malay support quite drastically. Support from the Indian community has also dwindled drastically and at the same time, support from the Chinese community has stagnated.

“In any case, how can you have a prime minister who is merely a popularity seeker, who only knows how to make promises and who cannot deliver?” he said.

RM2 company and million dollar contract can do wonders!

So what? He can promise whatever he wants, or not?
Zahrain, crawl back into your hole please. The people are sick and tired of your smug face. Just wait and see how hard you will be kicked come GE13.

And what's wrong with giving the DPM posts to all three component parties? That is excellent. Very Muhibbah, very Malaysia. Can you imagine BN giving their component parties similar? Time for MCA, Gerakan, MIC and all the others to switch to Pakatan Rakyat because this is all for one and one for all party, having equal rights to serve our nation and people.

UMNO's latest pet "dog" is suferring from a serious case of Oral diarhoea and obviously is enjoying every bit of the attention given to him NOW. Only one advise to this "running dog" - enjoy your last bit of being the centre of attention. You will be ANCIENT HISTORY after GE13 and heck, even UMNO will forget you!
Pordah!!!!

MAS ordered to pay damages for lost luggage

The magistrate's court here today ordered Malaysian Airlines System Berhad (MAS) to pay RM9,675 to a passenger for lost luggage from the baggage claim area of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang, four years ago.

Magistrate Sharifah Norazlita Syed Salim Idid made the decision after granting the application for compensation filed by a manager of an aviation company, Kang Guat Pheng, 51, from Kuantan, Pahang on May 30, 2007.

“After listening to statements from the witnesses and submissions from both parties, the court decided to grant the plaintiff (Kang) the compensation as filed in the application.

“The court also orders the defendant (MAS) to pay the cost and interest of eight per cent per annum on the plaintiff’s claim, beginning from the date of judgment to the date of settlement,” said Sharifah Norazlita.

During the trial, Kang, represented by lawyer Zaidi Abdul Hamid, called two witnesses, while MAS, represented by lawyer Hariharan Tara Singh, called three.

In her application, Kang said that she had boarded a MAS flight from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to KLIA with a 10kg luggage on Dec 26, 2006.

She claimed that upon arrival at the airport, her luggage was missing from the Baggage Claim area and that she suffered losses in terms of personal belongings and valuables worth RM9,675.

Kang said that due to the loss, she had faced problems and was still under duress even though a report was lodged at the MAS office on the day of the incident.

She had sought RM9,675 as compensation, interest of eight per cent per annum from Dec 26, 2006 to the date the case was fully settled, and other costs and relief deemed fit by the court.

MAS, in its defence earlier, alleged that Kang did not declare her valuables before boarding the flight.

The airline also said that it had offered US$300 (RM1,020) in compensation for the lost luggage but the plaintiff refused to accept the offer and decided to take the case to court.

Congratulations Kang. Pity the 1000's of other "kangs" who silently  accepted their loses as fate. No wonder airlines are minting money.  Too many 'convenient fees" around. Time for a watchdog committee  to check into all these extras. What next, payment for blankets??

According to the Geneva convention and the governing tariffs, the liability for checked baggage without value declaration prior commencement of carriage, is limited to USD20.00 per kilogram.

Since the weight of the baggage in question was 10.0Kgs and this allowed a settlement of USD200.

Mas had augmented it's settlement offer to USD300.

The court has opened the flood gate for missing baggage claims to unlimited liability. They
have even allowed consequently loss.

Putrajaya Holdings tasked to develop Tronoh Laketown Resort

Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd is expected to begin construction work on the multi-billion ringgit Tronoh Laketown Resort, near here, anytime soon, said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir (picture).

He said the new township facing Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) in Tronoh would cover 400 hectares of land.

“It is a matter of time before Putrajaya Holdings builds an impressive township for the area which will allow local and international students to study in a conducive environment.

“It will also be a catalyst for Perak’s efforts to turn Tronoh and Seri Iskandar as a new development area and education hub in the state,” he said after a working visit to the Darul Ridzuan Institute (IDR), here, today.

He said besides UTP, other educational institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Mara Professional College are also located in the area.

Zambry also said the state government had identified several areas in Hulu Perak, Bagan Datoh, Lembah Beriah near Kerian and Gua Tempurung, near here, as new development areas in line with Perak’s aim of becoming developed state in the future.

Meanwhile, Zambry declined to comment on Tronoh assemblyman V. Sivakumar’s reported insistence that he is still the legitimate Perak assembly Speaker and not Datuk R. Ganesan.

“Why should I pay him any attention? He’s behaving like one with a ‘full moon’ syndrome,” he said.
