Ibrahim Ali, did you work for Vincent Tan?

PAS leaders have called on Perkasa chairman Ibrahim Ali to clarify a news report that he had worked for Chinese gambling king Vincent Tan, who has become the latest Malaysian to join the Forbes’ list of billionaires.

“If this report is true, then Ibrahim Ali must explain to Perkasa members, in fact to all Malays, why he keeps harping on the Chinese overtaking the country and yet quietly, he works for them,” PAS central committee member Dr Syed Azman told Harakahdaily.

“What is this if it is not double standards and hypocrisy? He is going to give Malays a bad name if he continues to play his racist card and Umno continues to sanction him.”

On Friday, new portal Malaysia Today splashed out a 2003 annual report of manufacturing firm Dunham-Bush Malaysia, which was then controlled by Vincent and his brother Danny.

In the annual report, Ibrahim is listed as an independent non-executive director and also a member of the firm’s audit committee.

Slamming tycoons like Vincent

Of late, Ibrahim has ruffled racial feathers more than any other political personality. He has denied being a racist, yet in the next breath, he has slammed the non-Malays for demanding equal rights.

He has also warned his community that Malaysia was in danger of being controlled by the other ethnic groups in particular the Malaysian Chinese.

“Look at how Vincent Tan became successful - he took over the privatisation of Berjaya-Toto," Ibrahim said in a recent press interview.

"The Genting group succeeded because of its monopoly on gambling. Ananda Krishnan rose to the fore because of his monopoly over Astro and the Maxis 012 license

“Looking at what they got, is it not a form of assistance, 'affirmative action' for the Chinese taukes? How can we compare what they got with the two sen small contracts given to the Malays?”

Praising the NEP

However, what Ibrahim did not say about the affirmative action plans in the New Economic Policy is that they have actually done very little to spread wealth amongst the Malays, particularly those in the rural areas.

Instead, the NEP, which originally aimed to eradicate poverty and help backward groups get a toehold in the economy, has been severely abused through the decades by Umno leaders.

In the name of protecting the Malays, Umno’s elite leadership granted huge economic largess and government contracts to unscrupulous cronies, resulting in widespread and endemic corruption.

“The NEP benefits only the Umnoputras and not the ordinary folk. This is something the Malays themselves are very well aware of,” PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar said.

“So Ibrahim should stop playing the race card as if no one can see through his tactics. In fact, everyone knows of his connection to Umno stalwarts like Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Najib Razak. He should stop taking Malaysians, especially the Malays, for fools.

By hook or by crook, solve the problems - PM tells MCA

The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said that he wants the MCA to come up with a solution as soon as possible so that it can continue to be the representative of the Chinese community in the BN (Barisan Nasional). He said "I want a solution. It doesn't really matter whether through elections or an understanding as long as the MCA emerges a credible force to represent principally the Chinese community and Malaysians as a whole," He added that “Members had to go through the process based on the party's constitution and hoped that the elections would run smoothly. For as long as the MCA recovers and its leadership has got the legitimacy, then it will be good for BN. I always want them to solve their problems as soon as possible...expeditiously. Political problems should not drag on for too long because the main focus should be on serving the people and helping us to transform Malaysia. Otherwise we are engaging in fire fighting. It's a waste of time and energy."

Project team for T’ganu stadium were not experts

The Public Works Department in determining the cause for the partial roof collapse at the Stadium Sultan Mirzan Zainal Abidin in Gong Badak, produced a detailed report that it is due to “serious engineering flaws, shoddy workmanship, inferior materials and lack of expertise in the key project management team” these were the main contributing factors for the collapse of the RM292million stadim. The report was declassified to the state government and Datuk Ahmad Said, the Mentri Besar was shocked to find out that the project team were not experts. He said “From the report, we realised that the project manager and his team were not properly selected to reflect the competency required in completing the project, concluding that the main contractor, a local construction firm, was fully responsible for the incident. The committee also determined that the main cause of the collapse was, among others, the faulty design with failure to take into account the support condition of the roof structure. The management team failed to conduct a design analysis, considering that the complex architectural shape and large spans made the structure very sensitive to any movement in the supporting structures.Other factors contributing to the collapse were the undesirable manner in which the structure was erected and that no checks were done during the erection process.”

Ahmad Said added that “The committee also recommended the appointment of a new team of consultants based on a quality-based selection system and accredited independent check engineers. Also, repair works should be undertaken by a specialist contractor. The state government had sent a letter to the main contractor to bear all the costs for the reconstruction as the incident occurred less than a year after the handover and the stadium was still under warranty.”

Cops ‘visit’ Anwar at PKR HQ and records statement for remarks made in ceramahs

Some 5 policemen from Penang went to the Petaling Jaya headquarters of the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) to visit Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the de facto leader of the party to have his statement recorded in relation to a string of ceramahs that were held in Penang last month where he is being investigated for sedition, criminal defamation and illegal assembly.

The recording of statement took place in a room with a glass window. Anwar was accompanied by lawyers R Sivarasa and Yusmadi Yusoff. 3 assistant superintendants and 2 Special Branch officers made up the team who visited the office. Anwar said "The investigation is with regards to four police reports that were made against me in Penang” the contents of what he said in the ceramahs touched on the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case, the procurement of the Scorpene submarines, the two missing jet engines and his second sodomy trial which he spoke about in the ceramahs at Kepala Batas in Seberang Jaya, Batu Maung in Bayan Baru, Kampung Baru in Padang Tembak and Kubang Semang in Permatang Pauh.

Stating that the police is being used by the Prime Minister, his wife and other leaders of Umno to intimidate opposition leaders, Anwar said " When authoritarian leaders sense strong demand to change, they usually resort to punitive measures and exploit the state institutions, including the police force. This year alone, 15 Pakatan MPs and state assemblypersons were being investigated by police all relating to events held in Penang. The Najib-Rosmah administration wants to show that Pakatan Penang and Guan Eng are anti-Islam and anti-Malay,"

Pathologist changes mind, says Beng Hock not strangled

In an apparent about turn, Sungai Buloh Hospital chief pathologist Dr Shahidan Md Noor today testified that Teoh Beng Hock could not have been strangled at all prior his fall last July 16.

The government pathologist took great pains to rule out the possibility that the neck injuries sustained by Teoh could have been caused by strangulation.

He was testifying at the inquest for Teoh, who was found dead outside the Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office after overnight interrogation.

“Although the minor injuries upon examination suggest some form of pressure around the neck, the pressure was not the cause of death. This is because there were no signs to support that that might have happened, there were no signs of asphyxia,” said Dr Shahidan, responding to a cross-examination from MACC lawyer Datuk Abdul Razak Musa.

He maintained that the red marks around the neck area were not the result of any form of strangulation, in a move which is seen as disputing Teoh’s lawyer Gobind Singh Deo and Selangor state lawyer Malik Imtiaz Sarwar’s suggestion that while a fall from height might have been the cause of death, there was also a possibility that Teoh might have been strangled prior to the fall.

“We are not disputing that the fall was the cause of death. What we are suggesting is that there is a possibility that strangulation might have been used as a form of fear or intimidation to interrogate Teoh. He was fine before he went to the MACC building, no injuries or wounds. We will be calling witnesses to corroborate this later on,” said Gobind to reporters shortly after the court adjourned for the day.

Dr Shahidan’s statements today seemingly contradicts yet again his statement back on March 1 when cross-examined by Teoh’s lawyer.

Back then, he had agreed with lawyers Gobind and Malik that it was possible that neck injuries sustained by Teoh Beng Hock might have been caused by strangulation.

He had been asked whether the marks could have been a result of strangulation.

“It’s possible but not probable,” said Dr Shahidan at that time.

Today, the doctor is sticking to his guns over the findings of his post-mortem report which had ruled out manual strangulation.

Magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abas had asked Dr. Shahidan whether the wounds around the neck were sustained before the fall, despite the pathologist ruling out strangulation.

According the doctor, the marks around the neck were “likely” sustained before the fall, but he did not elaborate further. Gobind then asked that the statement be put on record.

Dr Shahidan, who was soft-spoken but calm throughout the proceedings also affirmed that Teoh could have been alive at the time of the fall.

“In my opinion, the deceased was conscious at the time of the fall.”

Once again the pathologist disputed Thai foreign forensic expert Dr Porntip Rojasunand’s suggestion that Teoh’s anal injuries might have been a result of penetration by a blunt foreign object.

Abdul Razak drew some flak from the audience when he used the word “sodomized” to ask Dr Shahidan whether there was anal injury. He later retracted his question and rephrased it.

The pathologist then replied that the injury was consistent with the fall, and that it was not a result of an insertion of a blunt object.

Lawyer for Attorney-General’s chambers Tan Hock Chuan then proceeded to clarify some things with the doctor.

Tan: “You are still saying that the cause of death is a fall from height?”

Dr Shahidan: “Yes.”

Tan: “You are also saying that the marks on the neck were caused by some pressure but it was not the cause of death?”

Dr Shahidan: “There was evidence of some force which could have been exerted on the afflicted part but no, it was not the cause of death.”

Abdul Razak had also raised the question of calling back Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim and Dr Prashant Naresh Samberkar, the pathologists who had conducted the first post-mortem.

He wanted to give them a chance to explain Dr Porntip’s findings.

“Exhumation would not have been made in the first place had first autopsy had been sufficient,” argued Selangor state lawyer Malik.

Eventually it was agreed that they would only be called “if the need arises.”

The coroner’s court has set April 20 for Dr. Porntip and April 26 and 27 for Prof Peter Vanezis to come to court to testify on the findings of the second post-mortem report.

this chief pathologist Dr Shahidan Md Noor is just a carpenter in the pathology department fixing all those dead bodies, carpenter and his family needs to eat and take care of his rice bowl also, anyway this will revealed more on some body is mastering the whole pathologist's report, including the UK pathologist, yet to hear his report.

It is rather interesting that the pathologist would change his mind on this matter. This brings one to conclude one of the following:
a) he is a bad pathologist and is unable to ascertain the correct cause of death with the given evidence
b) got a fat paycheck in the mail
c) was blackmailed into recant his previous stance

I guess the rakyat will once again suffer should any of the above be true.

He denied the strangulation now because his salary is paid by the federal govt. and other pressures which we do not know of, may be personal threats or threats to the family members.
The court should stick to the first admission of strangulation.

I guess whatever credibility this guy had has pretty much been thrown out the window. This is his second time changin' his mind.

Government Credibility gone down drain! All done to hide the MACC murderers - Scratch UMNO back and UMNO will scratch their back.

Why UMNO and MACC have NO concience to find the killer? Call yourself True Muslims or Islam Defenders - when you do not seek True Justice ...

Disgrace to Islam, Malays and Malaysia!!

If Balakrishnan changes his SD and now our Malaysia chief pathologist also, guess we all know who is behind this. This is so sad. Our big brother is now a big gangster!

The next thing he will say because he take kew from MACC chief. "The strangulation marks was likely self inflicted before he jumped out the window!" So what MACC is saying is he killed himself then threw himself out the window! Huh? how can a dead man throw himself out a window... but that is the UMNO/MACC logic. Every victim of a crime is the responsible party, not the person committing the crime. So mongolian girl blew herself up, and submarine naughty, responsible for not being able to sink!

Umno’s doors for membership from defectors always open - DPM

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the deputy prime minister said that the door into Umno is never closed and that they do not need to invite any former Members of Parliament of the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) to join them. He said that Umno’s door “was always open to anyone wanting to become its member. I don’t think there is a need to invite them as they know that our door has never been closed,” This came in light after the recent resignations of several members of the PKR including Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri of Bagan Serai, Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim of Bayan Baru and Zulkifli Noordin of Kulim-Bandar Baharu, who was sacked. Muhyiddin added that “They might be more comfortable at this early stage to remain as independents. This is because they might want to avoid accusations that they had been persuaded by Umno leaders. They have their own stand and we respect that,”

Don’t let Zulkifli in, Gerakan urges Umno

The Penang Gerakan has urged Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership not to accept Kulim-Bandar Baharu member of parliament Zulkifli Noordin as a member.

Its chairman, Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan, said Zulkifli was sacked by PKR for his unwillingness to subscribe to multi-racialism.

“Accepting him into Umno and BN will not augur well for BN as a moderate and multi-racial coalition serving the interests of all Malaysians,” he said in a statement today.

Teng, who is also Gerakan vice-president, pointed out that Zulkifli had led a noisy protest to disrupt a Bar Council “Conversion to Islam” forum in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 9, 2008.

He said Gerakan was perturbed over a statement by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that Umno’s door “was always open to anyone wanting to become its members”, including Zulkifli.

Zulkifli was expelled from the PKR last Saturday, and became an independent member of parliament to continue to serve the people.

Nonsense! Teng Hock Nan, do not make a fool of yourself! Do you think UMNO will listen to you? If they can accept Ibrahim Ali openly, do you think they will not accept Zulkifli?

These two are their tools in PERKASA to antagonize and stoke tensions with the Chinese and Indians to win the Malay votes, and the 1PM will act as the good man to deceive the Chinese and Indians to win their votes for BN. Don't you get this simple conspiracy, stupid Teng? Killing two birds with one stone! Are you part of the conspiracy or are you really that naive?

You can cheat yourself but you cannot deceive the Rakyat yet again! Never! Not so easy to deceive the Rakyat now! Thanks to PERKASA and UMNO Baru!

Let umno welcome him with open arms and in the end they too will eat the bitter pills. May be one man's garbage is another man's gold.

Lets face it, UMNO don't care about B.N. anymore, it is really pitiful that the component parties are downgraded to the status of UMNO's slave.

Its better to close shop and leave B.N. for good.

Enemy of my Enemy is my friend until there is no more use for this 'friend'! Even if he is accepted, you will know what kind of disease he is to the party. Let UMNO take in the disease and we will see better chances for PR.

Ex-Labuan MP jailed, fined for fraud

Former Member of Parliament for Labuan Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, who pleaded guilty for not disclosing to the bank that he was a bankrupt when he became a guarantor in a loan application 14 years ago, was fined RM10,000 in default one month jail today.

Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court judge Duncan Sikodol passed the sentence after hearing mitigation by Suhaili, who was represented by counsel Rakbir Singh.

Yesterday, Suhaili pleaded guilty to the alternative charge of not informing the Malayan Banking Bhd that he was a bankrupt on April 3, 1996 when he became a guarantor in an application form for a housing loan of RM110,000 and overdraft facility of RM50,000 by Saraequity Sdn Bhd, to buy an apartment unit at Api-Api Centre, here.

Suhaili was charged under Section 109 (1) (m) (ii) of the Bankruptcy Act 1967 which carries a jail term of not more than two years or fine, or both upon conviction.

When met after the sentence was passed, Suhaili said he would pay the fine today but his lawyer would file an appeal tomorrow as he felt the decision was too harsh.

In mitigation, Rakbir asked the court to place Suhaili, 49, on a good behaviour bond under Section 173 (A) of the Criminal Procedure Code and not to record the conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fariza Hamzah from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission objected, saying that it would convey the wrong message that anyone could find a loophole in the law, and asked that the accused be charged under Section 109 (1) (m) (ii) of the Bankruptcy Act 1967.

In passing sentence, Duncan said he had taken into consideration that the accused had pleaded guilty and had an unblemished record previously, and that as a politician, he had served his constituents well.

“However, fair sentence must be passed. There was no explanation given why the accused was not aware he was bankrupt and binding (on good behaviour) would not send the right message to would-be offenders,” said Duncan.

Anwar asks Federal Court to review its ruling on his sacking

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today asked the Federal Court to review its March 8 decision to uphold the legality of his sacking from the Cabinet 11 years ago.

He filed an application at the Palace of Justice here, asking for a review of the apex court’s decision that his termination as deputy prime minister and finance minister on Sept 2, 1998 was lawful.

The notice, together with his affidavit, was filed by the legal firm of Karpal Singh & Co.

In his affidavit, Anwar asked the Federal Court to use its discretion to review the case, under Section 137 of the Federal Court Rules, to avoid injustice which he claimed was done on him.

He said the Federal Court decision was against Article 43 (5) of the Federal Constitution, which said only the Yang di-Pertuan Agong — and not the prime minister — can retract his appointment from the Cabinet on the advice of the prime minister.

Anwar said the Federal Court panel which rejected his appeal had made a mistake in law by deciding that the prime minister was the sole authority to appoint and retract his appointment.

He said the ruling was an insult to the framers of the constitution, as it suggested that following Article 43(5) was a mere formality and the decision would not stand up to judicial review.

Anwar said the matter was an unusual case as the court did away with its discretion to stop the injustice against him.

He said he took the legal action against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the government of Malaysia to get an order to declare that his sacking was unlawful and was seeking compensation by way of reinstatement to his posts.

He failed in his application and appeals to the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Federal Court.

For as long as these "judges" remains on the bench, Malaysians have NO hope ! If you are not pro-Govt. you have no chance !

Well these judges in the federal courts makes a mockery of our justice system. They have no sense of direction when interpreting the law. The can interpret the laws in any that that suits their master UMNO. We have to get rid of these judges because they are shaking the very foundation of our country. It is the law of the land that held a country together. This very foundation have been disturbed by these judges that should not be sitting there for they are not qualified or are simply kowtowing to the BN. That has to stop and stop right now!

Lawyers clash over Anwar’s ‘qazaf’ motion against Saiful

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (right) with PKR President Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at the Syariah High Court today

The Syariah High Court today saw lawyers arguing over Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s qazaf or criminal defamation against his sodomy accuser Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Government Syarie lawyer Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar argued that the the Syariah High Court does not have the authority to order Syariah chief prosecutor to charge Anwar’s former aide.

Zainul said that the court cannot interfere or meddle the authority of the Syariah chief prosecutor under section 58 (2) in Islamic law’s administrative act.

Zainul also added that there were several procedural errors in the application and that it should be made by way of summons instead of notice of application therefore Anwar’s application should be rejected.

Anwar had filed an application for the court to order Federal Territory (FT) Syariah chief prosecutor Shamsuddin Hussain to charge his former aide for making false accusations about committing intercourse with him.

Government Syarie lawyer Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar (centre).

However Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom, Shamsuddin and FT Religious Department director Datuk Che Mat Che Ali filed the preliminary objections to strike out Anwar’s “qazaf” application against Mohd Saiful.

Anwar’s Syarie lawyer Kamar Aniah Kamaruzaman questioned if the Syariah Chief prosecution’s power was absolute and could not be questioned.

She also stressed that precedence has shown that the court does have power to intervene under the statutes in the Federal Territory’s Islamic law.

Kamar said that if the Syariah court decides that it does not have jurisdiction to order the Syariah Chief prosecutor to charge then Anwar can bring his case to civil court.

“But do we want issues affecting Muslim people to be heard in a secular court and by a judge who is ‘kafir’?” She asked.

Kamar said that government has been emphasizing the importance of Islamic law in the country by canning the three women but questioned the same was not practiced with Saiful.

“The minister, Syariah chief prosecutor and Religious Department director seem to have more faith in the civil court than Syariah court by wanting to wait for Anwar’s sodomy case before proceeding with this case.

“The government wants to strengthened the Islamic law in the country by canning the three women but why is there yet any actions taken against Saiful who had falsely declared, that he was sodomized, in the mosque? Were the women canned because their do not have anybody to protect them?” asked Kamar.

Kamar also stressed that the court should not allow “minor technicalities” to “overpower the fundamental issue of the case” and that she was willing to amend the application.

“The court procedures are aimed to achieve justice but not hinder it,” she said.

The court has been adjourned to April 14 for the judge to decide on the preliminary objections.

Wan Azizah tells Zul to move on

PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has told independent MP Zulkifli Noordin to move on from the episode of his sacking and stop harping on the matter.

The soft-spoken wife of PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today she did not want to further engage in a verbal war with the maverick politician, despite the latter’s personal attack on her last night.

“I think enough has been said about this subject. He should move on from this, there is no need to keep talking about this any longer,” she said when contacted by The Malaysian Insider this morning.

Zulkifli responded to Wan Azizah’s call for him to resign his MP seat in Kulim-Bandar Bharu with a personal attack against his former president last night by mocking her pseudo-Islamic ways, saying that upholding Islam was not confined to wearing her “small silk gloves ala Michael Jackson”.

Claiming to be an extremely close and loyal friend to Wan Azizah and her family, he also voiced disappointment that his “Kak Zah” had allowed herself to be influenced by the “little Pharoahs” in PKR when she agreed with his sacking order.

“Has she already forgotten how these little Pharoahs had reduced her to tears? And who was there as her shoulder to cry on during those moments but me?”

“I never wanted to make any statement against her not merely because I have respect for her as my elder by because we have been through many bittersweet memories. She has confided a lot in me on her secrets and the future of her family for the 12 years that I have been with them,” he claimed.

Zulkifli was sacked from PKR after facing the party’s disciplinary board for infringing on a gag order and lodging a police report against Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad over the “Allah” issue.

In response Zulkifli’s comments, a tired-sounding Wan Azizah told The Malaysian Insider that she did not want to engage further on the matter.

“Oh God, why is he saying all this. There is no need to comment on this, I think we should just leave it at that. There is no need to respond to personal attacks,” she said.

She pointed out that the reason why she had told Zulkifli to resign was not because of the seat but because it was a matter of principle.

“I do not understand now why he is asking me to resign instead. It is not a about the seat. I said he should resign because he had won on the ticket of PKR so he should run as an independent instead,” she said.

When contacted, PKR Wanita chief Zuraidah Kamaruddin came to the defense of her president and said that Wan Azizah had every right to practice Islam the way she saw fit, whether it meant wearing gloves or not.

“Islam has a large scope where one can choose which way of life you want to follow. For the good of her position as the president, she has chosen this (to wear gloves) and it is her choice,” she said.

She added that Zulkifli was not the only one who was close to Wan Azizah and her family and there were many others who had remained loyal since day one.

“We were all close to the struggle because Anwar at the time was a symbol of justice and struggle for the people of Malaysia. I think if you look at the struggle, all of us had jumped onto the bandwagon since Anwar was sacked as the deputy prime minister in 1998.

“We all struggled in our own ways, he (Zulkifli) did it in his own way,” she said.

Zuraidah said that for now, Zulkifli should just move on and accept his sacking for the decision had not been made by Wan Azizah alone but by all the supreme council members.

“Instead of talking this way, he should work to try and improve the situation. He can contribute on his own if he wants. If he is truly genuine about fighting for the principles of PKR, he can do it. It does not matter that he is no longer in PKR for a person who is genuine can fight on in whatever capacity,” she said.

She cited the example of independent MP Ibrahim Ali and his Malay right-wing Perkasa.

“He (Zulkifli) can find his own way too,” said Zuraidah.

The Zul scumbags is mentally mixed up. Read what he said and sure enough, I have to conclude that he is a mental case.

Much of his actions can be explained that way. His insecurities are super high. He claims its about Islam but his behaviour is very much unIslamic. Both PAS and UMNO have had historical difficulties with him. When you ask him one question, he does not reply directly but retorts back with less relevant answer. This guy is psychologically wrong. Its early support for Anwar is totally irrational driven by his personal perverted view of Islam and no place for him in UMNO and PAS. They were not logical and his behaviour now is not logical. He got trapped by his own illogic and insecurities and now too emotionally damaged to admit he was wrong.

Dont waste time of this hyprocrates and we peoples of Kulim -Bandar Bahru will make sure he lost his deposit if he become independent candidate or with UMNOPutra.

Trying to be more Muslim than others Muslim by the wrong way.

Zul Noordin quits as Anwar's lawyer in qazaf case

Sacked PKR lawmaker Zulkifli Noordin today told the Syariah High Court that he will not represent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tomorrow in his qazaf application, escalating his spat with his former party and client.

Zulkifli decision came days after he was sacked from the party last Saturday for indiscipline, prompting him to denounce the PKR leadership with snide remarks against party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and challenging her to contest his Kulim-Bandar Baharu seat.

He did not explain his reasons for not withdrawing as Anwar's lawyers in a letter to the Federal Territory Syariah High Court Registrar. The letter was uploaded to his website.

Earlier today, Zulkifli said he will be in court in his capacity as the lawyer Anwar officially appointed.

“On record, I am Anwar’s lawyer … and I will be in court tomorrow. Whether I am asked to withdraw or otherwise I still need to be there,” said Zulkifli.

“If I am asked to withdraw I have to declare this officially to the court. So I will be there,” he said, adding that he does not consider his current problems to be of a personal nature.

It is understood that this will be the first time in a month that Zulkifli will meet Anwar and Wan Azizah face to face.

“This is not a personal matter, and I continue to be in contact with [Anwar], Wan Azizah and his family,” he said.

Zulkifli has informed Anwar that he will conduct himself as a professional in the qazaf suit which Anwar filed against his former personal assistant Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Anwar’s other counsel is Kamar Aniah Kamaruzaman.

Zulkifli has been Anwar's lawyer since his first sodomy trial in 1998 and also stood on the party ticket to win the Kulim-Bandar Baharu seat in Election 2008.

The de facto PKR leader's qazaf or false accusation application against his sodomy accuser Saiful will resume after the Islamic Affairs Minister objected to the application.

Anwar’s Syarie lawyer Kamar Aniah had argued on Feb 17 that they did not have time to file the affidavit because the defence had filed the preliminary objections before Chinese New Year last week.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom, Federal Territory (FT) Syariah chief prosecutor Shamsuddin Hussain and FT Religious Department director Datuk Che Mat Che Ali filed the preliminary objections to strike out Anwar’s “qazaf” application against his former aide on Feb 9.

The parties also want Zulkifli to be excluded as his counsel because the Kulim Bandar Baharu MP may be called as a witness during the trial.

Anwar had filed an application for the court to order Shamsuddin, as the chief syarie prosecutor in the Federal Territory, to charge his former aide for making false accusations about committing intercourse with him.

Kamar questioned why the respondents had filed the preliminary objections and have not replied to the main application.

The court then ordered all parties to file in all the relevant affidavits before March 10

Zulkifli Noordin hits back at Wan Azizah

Zulkifli Noordin, the Member of Parliament of Kulim-Bandar Baharu who was sacked recently from the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) retaliated against the call by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the president of the party to quit his post where he called on Wan Azizah that she instead should quit as the president of the party for not defending Islam. In his personal attack against her, he said “Wan Azizah’s failure for “losing” four MPs and an equal number of assemblymen since Election 2008 meant she should also vacate her post.” He added that “She has failed as a president to uphold the principles of PKR, although supposedly pledging to defend Islam and special position of the Islamic institution as enshrined in the Federal Constitution. Allowing a non-Islamic panel to try a Muslim on his faith and religion is a great insult to Islam. On this note, I urge Wan Azizah to resign,”

Knowing fair well that Wan Azizah cannot contest in any elections for 5 years, Zulkifli also challenged her to contest against him in the next general election at the Kulim-Bandar Baharu constituency. He added that “Has she already forgotten how these little Pharaohs had reduced her to tears? And who was there as her shoulder to cry on during those moments but me? I never wanted to make any statement against her not merely because I have respect for her as my elder by because we have been through many bittersweet memories. She has confided a lot in me on her secrets and the future of her family for the 12 years that I have been with them. But she was the one to make a statement against me and I am compelled to reply her. I hope that after this, she will stop her attack on me immediately,”

Referring to Wan Azizah as ‘Kak Zah’ but no ‘Kak Wan’ which are referred to by others, he said “It is a secret why I call her that and only she knows of this,”

“I was not the one to leave PKR. Instead, I was sacked although until the very last second, I was still holding on to my will to be given the chance to defend myself before an all-Muslim disciplinary board. However, Wan Azizah refused to give me the chance. And now, after making me the victim of these little Pharaohs, she wants me to vacate my seat? Look who’s talking?.”

All I want for my birthday is for BN to win big next election – Samy Vellu on his 73rd birthday wish

Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu, the MIC President who celebrated his 73rd birthday on Monday said that his birthday wish is to have the BN (Barisan Nasional) to ‘win big’ in the next general election after its huge defeat in the March 8, 2008 edition. He said "I want BN to win with a bigger majority in the next general election,"

He said tthat “It was possible for the BN to secure a "big victory" in the next general election, judging from the "excellent performance" of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Since the last general election exactly two years ago, on March 8, 2008, the MIC had worked hard to regain the support of the Indian community. We have carried out reforms and transformed the party to be more people-oriented. I want the younger leaders to take the lead. They must be given the opportunity,"

Unity shown in America and how his son shares ice-cream with his Chinese friends – Husni

Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, the Second Finance Minister spoke about unity at the GST conference and the importance of national unity including sharing of his personal experiences in the United States but did not mention anything about the claims by some from the opposition front of his so-called ‘racial remarks’ which he mead in Penang where he allegedly said “Kalau orang Cina di Pulau Pinang buli kita, kita lawan balik orang Cina (If Penang Chinese bully us, we fight back the Chinese)” Citing the example of the Americans, regardless of their race and background who stand up when the Star Spangled Banner is played, he said “No matter what their race, they stand tall and stand together.

This is what our prime minister wants. I see how my son would eat some of his ice-cream and then pass the ice-cream to his Chinese and Indian friends. He likes to mix and does not sit with only Malay friends. My son celebrates the different races and he will stand tall. I went to a biotech conference once and was told this is the most suitable country to conduct clinical trials for drugs as we can test the drugs on different races and not just one race. Malays, Chinese and Indians constitute 40 per cent of the global population. You can see the potential of what God has given us. The prime minister says that we must not just tolerate each other but celebrate each other.”

AHMAD HUSNI, YOU DONT HAVE TO EXPLAIN NOW. JUST KEEP THE COCK AND BULL STORIES TO YOUR OWN CHILDREN...ITS JUST MATTER OF TIME YOU BE KICK OUT.
NO ONE RESPECT YOU ANYMORE

The cleanest administration and progressing state so far is Penang and it started when LGE took over. What the f**k is this Husni guy trying to proof?? When Penang was under the FG no progress, now when its blooming, he wants to claim rights? What a twister.

The Malays have been tolerating the Chinese and Indians and others for far too long. They should learn to accept the Chinese ,Indians and others as equals and friends. This minister's son must have learnt his 'ketuanan' attitude from him to eat his ice cream and pass the left-overs to his Chinese and Indian friends. The Chinese and Indians are not 'beggars' but proud people and have been 'feeding' the intolerant Malay all these years.IN THE UNITED STATES ALL MEN/WOMEN ARE EQUALS. There is not a 'tuan' and 'hamba' attitude as is being practised in this country.

AMERICANS ALREADY KNOW MALAYSIAN umno muslims ARE "HYPOCRITES" FULL OF GREED FOR POWER AND MONEY LAUNDERING, MISUSE OF POWER, EVEN MURDERS....... CORRUPTION IS THEIR DAILY BREAD."

DISGUSTED PATRIOTIC MALAYSIAN

Umno ramps up attacks on Pakatan Rakyat

In sharp contrast to the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) rally in the city which was broken up by the police, the only drama at Umno’s ceramah in Wangsa Maju was provided by its speakers.

Organised by the Gombak Umno Youth, they attacked the credentials of almost every PR leader, from Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Numerous accusations were also hurled at Gombak MP Azmin Ali with several former PKR Youth leaders who were in attendance claiming that they had evidence of corruption.

The star of the night was none other than Mohd Ezam Mohd Noor, Anwar’s former right-hand man who left PKR shortly after 2008 and joined Umno.

“In the name of Allah, I left the party not because of money, power or anything else but principles. I’ll have you know that I stood by Anwar till the day he was released from prison. I had defended him when no one else would,” said Ezam to a 100-odd people, mostly grassroots Umno supporters.

Ezam, who was at one point PKR Youth head, alleged that he left the party because he could not stand how the party had digressed over the past couple of years.

He said that the Anwar he knew back in 1984 was a different; Anwar who fought for the rights of Malays, and that PKR had deviated from its original manisfesto of being a multiracial party with a focus on the Malays.

“The original party constitution was very clear. PKR, while being a multiracial party, its focus was supposed to also ensure the rights of Malays. I know this because I read the original draft of the party constitution.

“Just a few years after Parti Keadilan Nasional was formed, the “little pharoahs” in the party, liberal Muslims, non-Muslims and leftist activists took control of the direction of the party and it’s been this way ever since. That is why I left PKR for Umno. Umno ensures that the rights of Malays and Islam are protected,” stated Ezam.

He went out of his way to maintain that Anwar has no real say in Pakatan Rakyat, and that he had comprimised his race and beliefs by kow-towing to the likes of DAP, whom Ezam labelled as “communists.”

He also slammed Anwar loyalists like Azmin and party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution for not being there when Anwar was imprisoned.

“I built PKR Selangor from scratch. I was there when nobody wanted to be near Anwar. I left my wife and kids and I fought for him, I went to prison for him, I got beaten up by the police for him. And all for what? I paid the price for defending him. You must all know the truth about Anwar.”

The former PKR man then showed the crowd pieces of paper which he claimed were proof of bank accounts and shares of Azmin Ali’s amounting to millions of ringgit going back to 1994, when Anwar was still with Umno.

“I want to ask Anwar why Azmin had so much money and how could he afford to earn so much, working in the government? Wan Azizah did not want Azmin in the party, but Anwar cared so much for Azmin, almost like a second wife. Azmin is very close to Anwar, so close that they have had “moments” together,” said Ezam, hinting that Azmin’s relationship with Anwar was more than just that of colleagues.

The verbal attacks on the PKR vice-president had been brought up earlier in the ceramah when Anuar Shaari, former political secretary for Anwar during his tenure as Deputy Prime Minister, said that a police report had been lodged against Azmin.

Like Ezam, he also insinuated that Azmin had been “intimate” with Anwar in the past.

Anuar defended the recent actions of the three PKR MPs who resigned from the party as well as just-sacked Kulim Bandar Baharu MP Zulkifli Noordin as “coming to terms with the truth about Anwar and Pakatan.”

“In Penang, MPs like Zulkifli and Zahrain were complaining about the leadership of Penang under Lim Guan Eng. His rule is an authoritarian one where he controls everything. No one can question him. What does Anwar do? Instead of defending his party members like Zulkifli he sacks the MP for speaking the truth.

“Look at how Guan Eng runs things, everyone is equal... if Malays get 50 per cent, Chinese should not get 50 percent. These are socalist values, almost communism, which is what Guan Eng is. Where can Malays be equal to Chinese? We follow Islamic principles where everything is according to time and place,” said Anuar.

He also hit out at Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim for failing to fulfill any manifestoes of development or change ever since PR took over Selangor.

“What change has Khalid brought? All they do is divide the money and give them to the exco in the Pakatan state line-up. When you also have morally dubious characters in your state exco whose naked pictures have been on the internet, this is bad for the youth because it encourages them to get involved in maksiat (fornication),” claimed Anuar.

He said that the campaign to smear Anwar and Pakatan had only just begun and they would be doubling their efforts in weeks to come with similar ceramahs.

Pakatan Rakyat swept through five states and captured 82 federal seats in a historic win that denied the ruling Barisan Nasional its customary two-thirds parliamentary majority in 2008.

However, Pakatan lost Perak when three lawmakers quit to be independents last year and threw in their support for Barisan Nasional to lead the state government.

Pakatan’s lynchpin PKR lost three MPs and sacked another in the past month as the leadership had to deal with Anwar’s on-going sodomy trial, the second after he was sacked as deputy prime minister in September 1998.

The difference between Pakaytan and uMNO is so glaring. While Pakatan is celebrating, UMNO is crying and lying.

Ezam, you have your own agenda which are apart from that of PKR. Sinbce you cannot push through your narrow agenda, you now bad mouth PKR.

A good muslim may get paid for saying good things but if you accept payment to bad mouth another is to bring discredit to Islam. Meaning, you are a rotten muslim, just like UMNO itself, a party with no moral.

UMNO ceremah in wanga maju was attended by 200 od people mostly umno grassroot members. DAP ceremah dinner in Kepongwas attended by 2000 common people who has to pay for the dinner themselves. The difference between the 2 organise ceremah is DAP dinner speech was stop and interrupted by police whereby Umno ceremah was allow to proceed without any harasement from the police. Pleaserakyat malaysia see the difference? The more police harras PR ceremah, the more people would like to hear from PR speech. Next GE UMNO and bn has to blame for themselves.

Two glaring points - first, no substance, all racism and religious instigation. Second, all about allocations and projects for "Malays", meaning themselves. If these people had been so "concerned" about the Malays, why are the Malays be still considered behind the others after 4 decades of "protecting" by these people ? And the Malays must notice that the very people who vow so hard to "protect" them are the very ones living in palaces, driving posh cars, having beautiful wives and mistresses, enjoying luxurious world trips and generally rolling in super wealth.

Two things which shows Ezam is an idiot:

1) Got proof of corruption show to public instead of reporting to the police which obviously favors BN, sabotaging any chance of a fair trial. Fail.

2) Equality = Communism??? This one is major fail, and for this reason alone he is not qualified to be a leader of any sort.

Husni talks up unity, mum about ‘racial’ remark

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah reaffirmed the 1 Malaysia concept and spoke about unity today while ignoring opposition claims that he uttered “racially-laden” remarks in Penang last week.

DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang expressed yesterday that Husni (picture), whom he had perceived to be rational and reasonable, was reported to have said: “Kalau orang Cina di Pulau Pinang buli kita, kita lawan balik orang Cina (If Penang Chinese bully us, we fight back the Chinese)” at Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce dinner last Friday.

In his speech at a GST conference today, Husni touched on the importance of national unity and shared personal experiences in the US and of his son.

He said that when he went to the US, he saw the US national anthem "The Star Spangled Banner" being played at nearly all functions and Americans of all races would stand up in a show of American solidarity.

“No matter what their race, they stand tall and stand together,” he said. “This is what our prime minister wants.”

He also said that he was very happy that his son shares his ice-cream with his friends of different races at school.

“I see how my son would eat some of his ice-cream and then pass the ice-cream to his Chinese and Indian friends,” said Husni. “He likes to mix and does not sit with only Malay friends. My son celebrates the different races and he will stand tall.”

“I went to a biotech conference once and was told this is the most suitable country to conduct clinical trials for drugs as we can test the drugs on different races and not just one race,” he added.

“Malays, Chinese and Indians constitute 40 per cent of the global population. You can see the potential of what God has given us. The prime minister says that we must not just tolerate each other but celebrate each other.”

The second finance minister did not give a press conference after his speech but sources close to the minister said that his remarks in Penang were likely to have been taken out of context.

Sources say that Husni, known to be a proponent of meritocracy and economic competitiveness from his previous speeches, was responding impatiently to complaints by the Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce that Malays were “being bullied” by DAP in Penang and he was telling them to respond by working harder and being more competitive.

They also say that the minister was not referring to the Chinese in general but to DAP.

Husni also touched on the need for Malaysians to embrace change due to the more competitive global environment and added that positions should be obtained based on merit and capabilities.

“We used to get batik from Malaysia and Indonesia but now we are getting silk batik from China for a low price,” he said. “We have to move up the economic value chain.”

Cannot trust Husni who is a proven racist in sheep's skin.

You can change? What a joke!!!

On one hand, you ask to change but on the other, you want to maintain NEP...

Soon you will see this man joining the ranks of other racist UMNO goons.

Sacking of Anwar from DPM post legitimate

Alauddin Mohd Sheriff, the president of the Court of Appeal and Mohd Ghazali Mohd Yusof and Abdull Hamid Embong who are Federal Court judges made an unanimous decision that the sacking of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from his deputy prime minister and Finance Minister was lawful. The sacking took place on 2 September 1998 where Anwar made a final appeal that it was unconstitional for his sacking from the posts then. Alauddin said “The then prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had the authority under the Federal Constitution to sack his cabinet minister. The king, as a constitutional monarch, was required to act in accordance with the advice of the prime minister.” Anwar has brought the case to the High Court and Court of Appeal which both ruled that the then prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir did actually had the authority under the constitution to sack any ministers in the cabinet

Ezam and Anuar hits out at Pakatan leaders at Umno ceramah

Umno took fresh swipes at the opposition leaders at one of its ceramah’s in Wangsa Maju where almost every leader from the opposition bloc’s credentials were attacked and shot down. Apart from the usual people like Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng and Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, others like Azmin Ali and others too were not spared. The one who spoke most about the opposition were Mohd Ezam Mohd Noor, the former aide of Anwar who has since jumped from PKR to Umno. He said “In the name of Allah, I left the party not because of money, power or anything else but principles. I’ll have you know that I stood by Anwar till the day he was released from prison. Zulkifli Noordin sacked, told to vacate post

Zulkifli Noordin, the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) Member of Parliament of Kulim-Bandar Baharu has been sacked by the party where they have told him to vacate his parliamentary seat immediately and force a by-election. According to Saifuddin Nasution, the secretary-general of PKR, “We will send an official letter by fax, registered mail and e-mail on Monday to inform him of the decision. He has 14 days to appeal,” He added that “The action against Zulkifli was primarily for lodging a police report against PAS’ Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad and for speaking against the party and coalition members in a television interview. The board views seriously the strong attacks against party policy, its stand and cooperation within the Pakatan Rakyat. We took into account the re-occurrence of his misdeeds, the police report and the interview”

Saifuddin added that the central leadership council of PKR reached an unanimous decision for the sacking where he added that “If the decision we made means that there will be one fewer representative in Parliament and if that is the price we have to pay to defend the party’s good name and the interest of our 500,000 members, then that is what we will do,”

Najib misses MCA AGM, hopes MCA can resolve internal problems

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the Prime Minister did not attend the MCA’s AGM (Annual General Meeting) but has voiced his hope that the party would solve their internal issues. His office issued a statement which read “MCA should be given the opportunity to resolve its internal problem.

It is hoped that the party would be able to resolve the issue and enable the MCA leadership to obtain a fresh mandate from party members,” Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, his deputy too hoped that the MCA would solve their problems as soon as possible. He said “The faster MCA resolved its party crisis, the better it would be for everyone. Barisan and the Chinese community wanted a strong MCA and hoped that the party’s elections, scheduled for March 28, would solve its political woes. The decision to have fresh elections is most welcomed by all. The party still had a long way to go after holding fresh polls. “The new leadership will have heavy responsibilities.”

Umno offers themselves to Zulkifli as ‘platform to serve people’

Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir, the Umno division head of Kulim-Bandar Baharu, the constituency of Zulkifli Nordin who was sacked from the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) has invited him to use Umno as the platform to continue serving the people of the area.

He said “As (Zulkifli) no longer believes in the direction and principles of the PKR, he can use Umno as his platform to serve the people,” The Umno Supreme Council also said that “The expulsion of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kulim-Bandar Baru was ‘clear proof that there was no democracy’ in the Opposition party.” Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, the head of Puteri Umno meanwhile claimed that “Zulkifli’s expulsion would show the people the real agenda of the party, which was to fight for the cause of its top leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Zulkifli’s openness in issuing a statement on religion, race and country had displeased the PKR leadership and went against the party’s real agenda which was to topple the Barisan Nasional government and make Anwar the Prime Minister. That’s why, when Zulkifli Nordin voiced his opinion on such matters, it caused uneasiness among Anwar’s people and had rattled Anwar himself,”
