Ibrahim defends Perkasa’s support for Kamalanathan because they share same view

Datuk Ibrahim Ali, the independent Member of Parliament who is also the president of Malay rights group Perkasa has defended the group’s support for P Kamalanathan, the BN (Barisan Nasional)’s candidate in the Hulu Selangor by-election, claiming that both the BN and Perkasa shares the same sentiments on the Federal Constitution although they are not from the same race. Ibrahim said “Some people asked me, if I’m a true Malay leader I should support the Malay candidate from PKR.

Anyone who defends the basic founding principles of this country that we have been defending for the past 50 years will receive Perkasa’s support. It is better to support Kamalanathan who upholds the constitution than another Malay who rejects our constitutional foundation,” He added that “Nik Aziz hugged (DAP’s) Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng.

This is Malaysian culture, a sign of friendship, I’m not racist. And what is wrong with Kamalanathan hugging me, maybe he hugged me because he wanted me to fight for the Indians. I have been a target in this election, my pictures were distributed, they have been calling me racist and all sorts of lies but I am not contesting and I have not been speaking at a lot of rallies. If Pakatan wins here, for the next two years until the general election, they will do nationwide road shows telling people how the people have rejected BN and how they are going to take over the country. The government’s efforts to improve the economic situation, to attract more foreign investors will be made difficult

One week ago, Perkasa was the defending NGO for the Malays. One week later Perkasa become the defending NGO for the Indians. And if BN choose a Chinese candidate for the coming Sibu by election then Perkasa will become the defending NGO for the Chineses.
