So once again fuel the UMNO-BN tools to kill people

RON95 will remain at RM1.90 for the time being, said Sabri.

The government today said the price of RON95 petrol will not be raised soon, allaying concerns this would be hiked following a recent cut in sugar subsidies.

Sugar subsidy was slashed by 20 sen on May 10, bringing its price to RM2.30 per kilogram. The hike follows a previous increase in December last year, which saw the price being raised by a similar amount.

Today, Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said his ministry had considered RON95 pricing on Wednesday but did not make a decision on it.

RON95 petrol currently retails at RM1.90 a litre, while diesel sells for RM1.80 per litre and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), RM1.90 per kg

On May 4, the price of RON97 petrol went up by 20 sen to RM2.90 per litre — the highest it has ever been. RON97 is, however, not a subsidised item.

The Najib administration removed subsidies for RON97 petrol last year, allowing its price to be determined using a managed float system. RON95, diesel and LPG continue to receive government subsidies.

Malaysians are now numb to price increases. We will suffer even more if Malaysians don't wake up & give the BN government the boot in the 13GE.The UMNOputras & cronies will not suffer, because they are all filty rich after years of plundering our coffers. What's the use of having the highest building, the longest of this or the biggest of that, when our economy has gone down the drain & Rakyats' well-being not defended.

once the price goes up it will never goes down... that's the promise from BN...

Elections coming soon!! After the rural voters got bought over with RM50.00 and 10kg of rice to vote for UMNO/BN and they form the government again then the big rise will happen!! Joke this administration!!

more garrulous of the UMNO dogs.....Cops say will name man in video only if compelled

The police today said they will reveal the identities of those seen in a sex video implicating a local politician only if they are required to do so by law.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar today said current legislation does not require people recorded within pornographic materials to be exposed or charged.

Khalid reiterated that the police were investigating the public screening and distribution of the video under Section 292 of the Penal Code.

“If there is a need under the law [to identify the people in the video]... if the law requires us to disclose, then we will disclose,” he said.

On April 14, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said the police have identified the man in the sex video.

He said the identity of the man was verified based on strong evidence obtained during investigations, although he declined to reveal the identity of the man in the video as it could interfere with the on-going investigation.

The police were also reported to have sought the assistance of experts from the United States to study the authenticity of the controversial video, and Khalid today said the new findings backed up earlier conclusions that the video had not been doctored.

“We have received the report from foreign experts and from the report, it reaffirms our experts’ findings about the authenticity of the video... that it is authentic, and not edited.

“If the video is authentic, you can make your own assumptions,” he told reporters at its headquarters here.

Khalid said that he will bring the results of their probe to the Attorney-General for further instructions.

He added that the public, as well as the media should be patient and give space for the police to investigate the case, as it is at its final stages.

“It’s not easy to trace the person who uploaded the video on Youtube because we know that it was done out of the country. It will take some time,” he said.

The video first made headlines on March 21 after it was shown to selected media outlets at the Carcosa Seri Negara by an individual identifying himself as “Datuk T”.

Two days after the screening, the trio of businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim came forward to reveal themselves collectively as “Datuk T”.

Following a police investigation into the screening, the trio claimed to have surrendered the only extant copy of the sex video to the police.

The unedited video had also been uploaded to video sharing website YouTube on April 28, but was taken down shortly after for violating the site’s terms of usage. Prior to that, two “teasers” of the clip had also been uploaded to the same site.

Whether it is Anwar or a surprise, that's not what troubles me. What troubles me is what the Deputy IGP said; i.e., "“If there is a need under the law [to identify the people in the video... if the law requires us to disclose, then we will disclose”. Sound to me like he isn't sure what the law says. He's our Deputy IGP, appointed by UMNO, and he's not sure what the law says?! What's the caliber of the people that UMNO appoints into high office? Sounds like UMNO appoints people of the same caliber as Najib, Muyhiddin, Hisam and Rais - people who don't really know what they are doing or supposed to do!

The only kind of police in the world......going after the victims & brutalising peaceful demonstrators , BUT protecting the wrong-doers. Memang SIAL betul !!

Khalid, you were recently promoted as Deputy IGP solely based on this criteria- SIAL betul !!

Ministers squid: Cops probing Utusan, bloggers over Christian Malaysia claim

The police are investigating Utusan Malaysia and two bloggers on their reports alleging a Christian plot to usurp Islam as the religion of the federation, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

The Umno daily carried a front-page article headlined “Kristian agama rasmi?” (Christianity the official religion?) last Saturday, claiming the DAP was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajaya and abolish Islam as the religion of the federation.

The report, based entirely on unsubstantiated blog postings by two pro-Umno bloggers, charged DAP with sedition for allegedly trying to change the country’s laws to allow a Christian prime minister.

“(The police are) investigating the whole incident. It’s not just about Utusan,” Hishammuddin told reporters today.

“It’s about whether it happened, on the issue of reporting, issue on the role of the bloggers, issue of people that were at the function. It cuts across all. We’re not pointing fingers at anybody,” he added.

Blogger Zakhir Mohamad, who maintains the Big Dog blog, insisted last Wednesday that pastors had pledged at a dinner in Penang organised by DAP’s Jeff Ooi to install a Christian prime minister.

Church leaders, the DAP and even some pro-Umno bloggers, however, have criticised Utusan Malaysia and Zakhir for the unsubstantiated allegation.

Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin also joined in the chorus of condemnation, accusing Zakhir yesterday of making an unbelievable and incredulous claim without any credible evidence.

Several police reports have been made to demand the authorities investigate Utusan Malaysia and the blogger for criminal acts.

Shamsul Yunos, who had also made the initial allegations in his blog marahku.blogspot.com, appears to have removed the entire contents of his blog.

Today, Hishammuddin also said a police report was lodged claiming there was some truth in the alleged Christian plot.

“Let the police do their work. There’re two sides to the coin,” said the home minister.

If we take action against Utusan, what about the allegations against the Chinese papers?

Hishammuddin added that he will hold a meeting with editors of mainstream newspapers to let them decide the boundaries of reporting race and religious issues.

“If there is a problem, you have to have your own internal mechanism to check each other,” said the Umno vice-president.

“If we take action against Utusan, what about the allegations against the Chinese papers? Then the Chinese papers will say what about the content of the Indian papers. And the Indian papers will then look at the English papers. It will never end,” he added.

The MCA and the DAP have said that the Home Ministry’s warning letter to Utusan Malaysia yesterday over its Christian Malaysia report was insufficient.

The front-page story sparked a furore among the country’s majority Muslims and minority Christians.

Selangor DAP chairman Teresa Kok urged Hishammuddin to revoke the Umno daily’s publication licence and to sack its editors.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek called for Utusan Malaysia’s editor to be suspended if its Christian Malaysia reports are proven unfounded.

Hishammuddin, however, said today that the editor-in-chief of the Malay newspaper, Datuk Aziz Ishak, had claimed “there was some truth in what was reported”.

The Umno vice-president also denied claims that his party’s political bureau set Utusan Malaysia’s editorial agenda.

“No, not true. I can confirm. I’m in the Umno political bureau,” said Hishamuddin.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was forced yesterday to meet with church leaders over the issue, after which the prime minister said he was pleased the church leaders had pledged to respect Islam’s position as the religion of the federation.

According to Najib, the church leaders also said Christians had no desire to challenge the provision in the Federal Constitution.

Najib did not, however, offer an apology for the report by his party’s mouthpiece.

Hisham is just another UMNO hypocrite. Remember, he condoned the work of the cow-head demonstrators. Then of course this time round he approved of Utusan's venomous falsehood and now, only because of public outcry, he slaps Utusan with a warning. If the same thing had happened with Harakah or the Rocket, not that it would, you bet they would have been closed down.

We know Utusan is UMNO's venomous mouthpiece and it speaks what Najib, Muyhiddin, HIsham and Rais do not wish to voice out in public though it is in their hearts and minds. These are a bunch of men without honour and integrity, men who abuse the power entrusted to them by the rakayt, men who inflict injustice on their opponents, men who are at heart convenient racists who use racial and religious divides to cause chaos and fear so that they can stay in power and continue to plunder the nation.

dick head ....bastard .....ahmad maslan...PAS in BN will benefit non-Malays

Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said today that non-Malay communities would benefit if PAS joined Barisan Nasional (BN).

Ahmad said that the country will profit from a united Malay community which forms the majority of the population.

“If PAS unites with Umno, it is not only the Malays who will benefit but also the non-Malays. The business community will profit from a majority that is at peace. When there are no longer any political conflicts, we will be able to concentrate on education, economy and nation building,” he said during a forum here.

Ahmad said that PAS and Umno leaders should stop fighting each other because it will not benefit the Malay community.

“It is ludicrous if we continue fighting among ourselves. We fight in the mosque, coffee shops and other places. Instead of working to elevate our community, we are trying to drag each other down,” he said.

Umno’s youth ulama secretariat representative, Fathul Bari, added that Umno and PAS must put aside political differences and unite for Islam.

“Umno stands for Islam, protects Islam and helps spread the teachings of Islam in the country and the whole world. If we unite because of our religion, then the impact will be very positive. This is because our pact will not be based on bloodline or race but Islam,” he said.

Malay Consultative Council (MPM) secretary-general Dr Hasan Mad, however, said that PAS should not join BN to ensure checks and balances in the country.

“We do not want PAS to join BN because we have other purposes for PAS. Don’t bring PAS into BN but do not make enemies of them. We have to accept that there are minor ideological differences between Umno and PAS but we must not let PAS get close to DAP,” he said.

Dr Hasan also claimed PAS’s struggles are similar to Umno’s Malay supremacy.

“In terms of Malay supremacy, what PAS is fighting for is not that great a departure from that of Umno but when it is politicised, the media places Umno on the far right while PAS is on the left. When Malay supremacy is politicised, it will cause hate among the Malay community when the difference is only the political ideology,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak threw open the doors recently for PAS to join Barisan Nasional and further the concerns of Malays and Muslims, telling the Islamist party that it could not achieve its aims while partnering with DAP.

Najib’s invitation follows calls by Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia for a “1 Melayu, 1 Bumi” campaign to unite the Malays against what the newspaper said was racial politics by the DAP to stir up Chinese sentiment.

It also continues concerted efforts by Umno post-Election 2008 to get PAS to join forces in the name of Malay-Muslim unity.

The subject of unity talks between PAS and Umno had dominated the 2009 PAS Muktamar, which saw a number of leaders keen on exploring talks with Umno emerge as big winners.

More recently, top PAS and Umno leadership met at a Christmas Eve dinner, hosted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong last year, during which the subject of Malay unity was broached once again.

The move then to bring PAS into BN entailed both PAS president Datuk Abdul Hadi Awang and his deputy Nasharuddin Mat Isa being given a prominent role in Putrajaya if the party decides to abandon Pakatan Rakyat (PR), but spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat continues to be the major obstacle in bringing PAS closer to the ruling coalition.

Following the furore over the Christmas Eve meet, Hadi had reassured his partners in PR that the Islamist party was committed to remaining in the pact.

When UMNO needs PAS, then of course they say this lah. When they are in full control & power, then forget about it lah this proposal

They are finally admitting that UMNO is a racist party that does not represent any other ethnic group but discriminates against them. And they finally admit that PAS is able to represent the interests of other ethnic groups because PAS does what it believes.

How in the world can the evil corrupt Umno malay members mix with pious thinking and corrupt free PAS malay members, when both their outlooks in life are extreme of each other, like what everyone always see oil and water do not mix as oil floats on water. Even the ancient China thinker Conficius said, there is no way water floats on oil.

This confirmed UMNO factions involved in the persecution of sex video

Umno info chief says convinced man in sex video is Anwar

Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said today that he had watched with his wife a sex video released recently and is convinced the man featured is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Ahmad was responding to a question on the sex video that has been widely circulated, during a forum organised today by Umno.

“There is no conspiracy here. What has been said by (Datuk Shazryl) Eskay is true and those who have watched the video admit that it is true. I have seen the video and admit that Anwar Ibrahim is in the video ... Yes, I watched it with my wife,” he said.

Last month, Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah performed the sumpah laknat oath by swearing in God’s name that Anwar is the man featured in a sex video that was recently shown to journalists.

Shazryl, a key protagonist behind the sex video allegedly featuring Anwar, has insisted that the opposition leader is the person in the 21-minute video.

Shazryl, former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Perkasa’s Datuk Shuib Lazim Abdul Rahim, collectively known as “Datuk T”, have claimed responsibility for the video.

Anwar has accused Datuk Seri Najib Razak of using the ongoing sex video saga as his main weapon to keep BN in government.

Ahmad, however, said today that Anwar’s allegation was ridiculous, as Umno would not want to alienate the Malay electorate further.

“There is no conspiracy and if we look at the first sodomy case in 1999, the Malays sympathised with Anwar and we felt it during the general election. It would be the stupidest strategy if we are responsible for the sex tape and his second sodomy case,” he said.

Anwar was first charged with sodomy and corruption in 1998 after he was sacked from the Cabinet and was later convicted and jailed for both offences.

He was freed in September 2004 and later resurrected his political career by winning back his Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in a by-election in 2008, which had been held in the interim by his wife.

But he is now facing a sodomy charge for the second time in life.

On June 29, 2008, his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, lodged a police report claiming that Anwar had sodomised him. Anwar has denied the sodomy charge against him, describing it as “evil, frivolous lies by those in power.”

Western Australia said no to Lynas

The Pahang Bar revealed today a Western Australian local council had “vigorously” opposed Lynas Corp building a rare earth refinery in its home state as the main reason for the Australian miner to ship its ore some 3,000km to Malaysia to be processed.

State Bar chief Hon Kai Ping said his team of lawyers had unearthed the minutes of the meeting of the Council of the Shire of Northam dating back to November 23, 2005 which recorded the local government “vigorously opposes the siting of a hazardous waste disposal and treatment plant at the Avon Industrial Park (in Meenar) based on the negative perceptions that the location will cause to Grass Valley, the Town of Northam and the Avon region.”

The document, Hon added, stated among other things: “The Town of Northam, along with other Councils in the Avon Valley, has been promoting the Valley as a clean and green tourism and lifestyle experience. Having a hazardous waste site on the Town’s doorstep would undo a lot of the work that has been undertaken by Council…”

“Pahang Bar is not certain but this may or may not throw some light as to why the proposal was not proceeded with despite all the convenience of distance as there is a highway running from Mount Weld, Laverton to the Town of Northam with no necessity of shipping the ore overseas,” Hon said in a statement today.

Hon observed that Lynas had hid this crucial piece of information even as unsatisfied Malaysians demand to know the logic behind the rare earth company’s expensive move.

The Pahang Bar is among the swelling tide of critics who have voiced objection to the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant being built in the Gebeng industrial zone, calling on Putrajaya to act on this new piece of information.

“The Pahang Bar in the circumstances reiterated its call that all aspects including the effects on tourism, economy, the way of life, environment,” he said.

He pointed out that Gebeng was, like Australia’s Avon region, a top tourism magnet and close to the world-renowned Cherating beach, which is part of the Club Med hotel circuit.

Hon also said Lynas failed to disclose the company had won the support of the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority as far back as 1992 to build a plant to process the Mount Weld ore in an place called Meenar, 18km east of Northam and somewhere between Laverton and Perth.

The lawyer urged the authorities to probe deeper.

He also called for the independent review panel, which will include members from the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The Vienna-based agency has confirmed participation and is set to come to Malaysia at the end of this month.

Lynas has said it does not expect the review will slow the start-up of its refinery, scheduled to power up in September.

Civil groups have stepped up their protests against the plant, including marching on Parliament while in session, prompted by radiation leakages from Japan’s nuclear power plants last month following a massive earthquake and tsunami.

While the technology used in rare earths processing is different, residents and non-governmental organisations fear a similar backlash.

They are reminded of the Bukit Merah disaster in Perak nearly 20 years ago, where radioactive waste left behind by the Asian Rare Earth (ARE) plant was blamed for the area’s high cancer rate and newborns with birth defects.

Lynas’ shares have tripled in the past year as global demand for its minerals — especially those for telecommunications — boomed. Rare earth metals are key to a global switch to cleaner energy — from batteries in hybrid cars to magnets in wind turbines.

But mining and processing the metals causes environmental harm that even China, the world’s biggest producer, is no longer willing to bear.

comments

It only proves businessmen and politicians will tell you lies when they want to justify any proposal. If Lynas Corp can lie about this, what other lies are there? Rare earth is safe? Rare earth earns good income?

People in Pahang who's supporting BN should say Thank You !!!! The project will create Billion of Ringgit into the state?...Ops, i mean for fixing the healthcare problem.

They even claimed that you could view the approval (document) for their plant
by the Australian authorities and another one by the Terengganu authorities
if you asked them. However it was reported that the Terengganu state government
rebuffed their request. I suppose with Photoshop you can make up any document.

This is not the only thing Lynas Corp lied about. The Malaysian government
should also check on the following:

1. The claim that the ore contains only 0.16% Thorium.
In many professional studies that can be found on the internet, ALL of them cite
monazite as the mineral found at Mount Weld with Thorium content of 8-10
percent. Only Lynas Corp talks about their special soil that contains 0.16%
Thorium.

2. A pertinent fact conveniently omitted.
A concentration plant in Western Australia will likely pack the earth to
40% rare earth oxide (REO) before shipping it over. So even if their claim
of 0.16% is true it is a moot point after the concentration process.

3. Only Thorium?
Google the Thorium decay chain and you will find that even in their natural
state (before processing) decay is already in progress and other very
radioactive materials are formed. E.g. Radium-228, Actinium-228, Thorium-228,
Radium-224, Radon-220, Polonium-216 and others. Radium killed Marie Curie, one
of the pioneers of the study of radioactive elements. Of particular note are
Radium, Radon and Polonium which are described as highly radioactive.

4. Only Thorium? (Part 2)
Sulphuric and nitric acids are used in the processing of rare earth oxides.
What is the volume of acid vapour that is dissipated in the process per hour,
per day? This is also very conveniently NOT disclosed. Google China's rare
earth processing in Inner Mongolia and see the effects of acid vapour on the
population there.

These and other red herrings have been thrown out by Lynas Corp to hide the
true nature of their operations. And all these omission constitute a shameful
criminal dereliction of duties by the Malaysian governing bodies.

I suggest they change their name to Liars Corp.

najib trying to deceive people....at corporate, income tax cuts with GST

Malaysians could see a cut in corporate and personal income taxes should the goods and services tax (GST) be introduced, said Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.

The prime minister was coy however on when the GST, which has already been postponed several times, would be implemented.

“I will tell you later,” Najib (picture) told reporters at the Budget 2012 Consultation when asked if the GST would be implemented next year.

He said GST would be implemented when the public has full understanding of it and his government will assess the public’s readiness.

“I will announce when the time comes,” he said.

Touching on the 2012 Budget which will be tabled on October 7, Najib said it will contain programmes that will benefit the people and a few major programmes will be launched even before the Budget, in June and July.

“Putting the people first will be the theme not only for the Budget but also of the government,” he said.

The Najib administration had postponed the implementation of the GST indefinitely in October last year, a move analysts said showed the government’s lack of political will and indicating that a general election could take place this year.

The postponement of the GST came as the government was embarking on a slew of big-ticket projects in its Economic Transformation Programme, such as the RM43 billion new KL MRT, which are expected to boost the economy and possibly increase the feel-good factor ahead of polls.

The GST Bill was tabled for reading in Parliament in December 2009 but its second reading, originally planned for March 2010, was postponed due to fierce political resistance.

It was originally expected to have been implemented by the middle of 2011.

The tax was expected to help the government reduce the federal budget deficit, which came in at 7.6 per cent of GDP in 2009, and grow revenue by widening its tax base as currently only about 10 per cent of workers pay income tax.

Government revenue is heavily dependent on taxes and dividends paid by Petronas, which make up over 40 per cent of its income. The national oil company’s dividend payout ratio has ballooned from 39 per cent of profits in 2006 to 74 per cent in the 2010 financial year, raising concerns that its ability to reinvest could be affected.

Some members of the public have approved the GST proposal as it is expected to spread the tax burden more evenly across the population. There is some expectation, however, that income tax rates should come down if GST is introduced.

Others have criticised the proposal, saying that the government should first address revenue leakages and wastage before introducing new taxes to boost its income.

comments

People first? Then you should know what to do with Lynas project... People first konon, u think malaysian living under the rock is it...

Once the GST is introduced, there is no way the Govt will remove it. The only thing they would do is to tune it up. And the tax can be marginally cut for now and increase shortly once GST is implemented.

GST won't be introduced now because of GE13 election, but once the election is over and BN is still in power, then GST will most likely be introduced. There is no escaping it unless, of course, the govt. is changed.

The GST will burden the low income people even if it will help the income tax payers.
As we know the majority of the country population are still the low income groups. So which are the peoples that the government would rather help? Please think carefully Mr PM before making any decisions.

Anwar’s driver claims murder attempt on boss

PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s driver today alleged a sinister murder attempt on his boss after discovering that the brakes of the Mercedes Benz he was driving had been tampered with last month.

Abdullah Sani Said, the 51-year-old driver who has worked with Anwar for 28 years since the latter was still the deputy prime minister, lodged a police report on the incident at the Tropicana police station outside the party’s national headquarters here this evening.

Abdullah Sani said he made the discovery on April 19 following an incident on his journey back to Kuala Lumpur from Perak in the Mercedes Benz S350 with the number plate KCD 77 which, he said, was on loan to Anwar from a close friend.

At the time, said Abdullah Sani, he and another aide, Mohd Nurol Sayah, had just ferried Anwar’s wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Faekah Husin, the political secretary to the Selangor mentri besar, to a PKR programme in Chemor, just outside Ipoh.

“On our journey back to KL via the North-South Expressway at about 1pm, before the exit to Sungkai near the 353km, a lorry suddenly cut into the right lane and forced me to jam on my brakes,” he said in the report.

He said the moment he applied the brakes, the Mercedes S350 began to vibrate violently.

“I heard the sound of something shattering at the back.

“Suddenly, the back tyres of the car felt like they were locked. This forced me to try my best to navigate the car towards the road shoulder,” he said.

He said he saw swerve marks and broken pieces of the car’s brake disc on the road.

He said he called for a tow truck and the vehicle was taken to the RCY Benz workshop in Glenmarie, Shah Alam for inspection.

At the workshop, Abdullah Sani said he was told by the mechanic that the back brake disc of the car was missing a “pin bolt” that is used to support the “brake caliper”.

“I was also told that it was impossible for the bolt to be detached without being tampered with,” he said.

He said that based on the mechanic’s explanation, it was clear that “certain parties” had deliberately tampered with Anwar’s car with the intention to “hurt or murder” the opposition leader or his family members.

“And on advice from the mechanic, this shows that there were elements of sabotage here, seeing as this vehicle is often used by Anwar,” he said.

He said he feared for his safety and that of his boss, adding that he hoped the police would initiate investigations immediately.

Abdullah Sani’s report was also accompanied by a signed diagnosis of the incident by Azman Hassan, the mechanic from the workshop.

In his declaration, Azman confirmed that it was “impossible” for the “pin bolt” to detach on its own without being tampered with.

“I found that the source of the incident was because of the one missing pin bolt which attaches the brake caliper.

“For your information, there should be two pin bolts. It was because of this missing one that caused the entire back right braking system of the car to be destroyed.

“In my experience as a mechanic for the past 10 years and specialising in repairs on Mercedes Benzes for the past seven years, it is impossible for the pin bolt to detach on its own,” he said.

Outside the police station later, lawyer Murni Hidayah Anuar, who accompanied Abdullah Sani, told reporters that the report was lodged nearly one month after the incident as they were awaiting the result of the mechanic’s investigation.

Abdullah Sani also said he last checked the car’s brakes last October and had not discovered any faults with the vehicle.

He noted that during the function in Chemor, Anwar’s car had been surrounded by many people but doubted if they could have so quickly tampered with the brakes.

I still remember during his term as DPM, his helicopter was crashed minutes before landing to pick up DPM. Sound similar to this car brake system too. Take good care DSAI

It looks like nobody is safe nowadays. This country is heading for disaster. The government of the day is not effective anymore. It looks like the Rakyat do not trust the government, judiciary and the police. So who else can we trust?

I guess BN really meant what it said when it said "at all cost". Even a life! Are we turning into some third world political arena? How embarrassing for Malaysia to stoop that low.

Beng Hock not suicidal

Teoh Beng Hock was in the lowest risk group for suicide when he entered the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), a forensic psychiatrist said in his report to a royal panel investigating the DAP political aide’s death today.

Dr Paul Mullen also said in his report to the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) investigating Teoh’s death that there was no reason for Teoh to conclude that he had shamed himself or betrayed his colleagues when he was questioned by the MACC.

“In brief, it is my opinion that Teoh Beng Hock was firmly in the lowest risk group for suicide when he was taken into MACC custody,” said Dr Mullen in his report, which was provided to the press today.

“His statement (to the MACC)... does not seem to clearly implicate him, or anyone else, in offences... this is not a context which, in my experience, leads to suicide in custody... there is nothing of which I have been made aware to explain panic and distress sufficient to drive him to conclude his honour had been irreparably tarnished,” added the Australian doctor.

Dr Mullen’s report came as the RCI concluded hearing testimony from 70 witnesses today in its bid to unravel the mysterious circumstances behind Teoh’s death.

Dr Mullen was not called to give oral testimony at the inquiry.

Teoh was found dead on July 16, 2009 on the fifth-floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam after he was questioned overnight by MACC officers at their then-Selangor headquarters on the 14th floor.

Teoh, 30, had been the political secretary to Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, who is also the Seri Kembangan assemblyman from the DAP.

The graftbusters were investigating a claim that his boss was abusing state funds.

100 reasons to say NO to UMNO-led BN

So the truth had finally prevailed. There was no need for TBH to commit suicide as suggested by certain irresponsible quarters. For the sake of money, certain quarters are prepared to stoop so very low to allege and insinuate TBH had committed suicide.
The only conclusion for his death was some one in MACC must be held responsible. This we leave it to the Honorable RCI to unravel the truth .

Thereafter, another RCI should be formed to investigate the death of the Asst Director of Customs and get rid of the rascals in MACC. Only then can the country regain the people's trust.

DAP wants Utusan probed for sedition, criminal defamation

The DAP wants the police to investigate Utusan Malaysia over its report of a Christian plot to usurp Islam’s position, which the party has labelled as “seditious” and “defamatory.”

DAP MP Lim Lip Eng said the “defamatory lies” created by Utusan in claiming the party was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajya and abolish Islam as the country’s official religion prompted him to lodge a police report today.

“Either the DAP and Christian leaders are trying to create a Malaysian Christian state, or Utusan editors and bloggers are lying, the Attorney-General has to decide,” he told The Malaysian Insider, reading out the contents of the police report lodged at the Sentul police station this morning.

“I want the matter investigated under the Sedition Act, Penal Code, and Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA).

“The DAP has denied the allegations. They are lies,” the Segambut MP added.

When asked whether the DAP would take legal action against the Umno-owned daily or the bloggers, Lim said he would leave the matter for the party to decide.

Utusan carried a front-page article yesterday titled “Malaysia, a Christian country?” (Malaysia, negara Kristian?) based entirely on blog postings by several pro-Umno bloggers.

The bloggers had charged the DAP with sedition for allegedly trying to change the country’s laws to allow a Christian prime minister, pointing to a grainy photograph showing what they described as a secret pact between the opposition party and pastors at a hotel in Penang on Wednesday.

In a posting headlined “Agong under threat? DAP wants to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia?” blogger Marahku (marahku.blogspot.com) accused the DAP of trying to amend the Federal Constitution so that a Christian could assume the post of prime minister.

“The whole point of changing the official religion is to allow a Christian to become prime minister of this country,” the blogger said.

On bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com, another blogger claimed to have received a message that DAP’s Jeff Ooi had organised a dinner for pastors from both Sarawak and abroad at Red Rock Hotel on Jalan Macalister, Penang.

“Among the activities that night included the 35 pastors taking a group oath. They formed a circle and touched each other’s shoulders and vowed in English to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia and put a Christian prime minister in office,” the anonymous writer said in his blog under the headline “Making Christianity the official religion?”

He also pointed to the same grainy picture he posted at the top of his blog page, which he had captioned “Partying pastors or pastors doing the party do and vowing to have a Christian as Malaysian prime minister”.

The blogger further alleged that the DAP had labelled the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition as an “anti-Christ agent” in the run-up to polls in Sarawak, showing the opposition party was “openly against BN on religious grounds and they are now making it their clarion call, their rabble rousing horn”.

He said it was a seditious and religiously divisive statement that was never investigated by the police “or at least they did not tell us about any investigations into the matter”.

The blogger called on the authorities to investigate the allegations of sedition, warning that if the authorities failed in their duty the country may be “shattered again”.

The National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF), together with partners Global Day of Prayer, Marketplace Penang and Penang Pastors Fellowship, said the claims against their community were lies, and refuted the bloggers’ allegations last night.

Similarly, Ooi said the dinner had been organised by the Christian pastors in recognition of the DAP team who had visited them while in Sarawak for the state election and that the prayer sessions — one before dinner and one at the end — were a usual part of their worship, and not a pledge as alleged.

Utusan is an UMNO newspaper. You must be joking for calling the Umno government to take action. They are above the laws and if it were to be Perkatan, it will be different story. MCA, where is your voice ?

If you believe in freedom of the press, then Utusan is within its rights to print whatever it wants. And do you really expect the Government to do anything about it? Utusan belongs to UMNO, and whatever it writes has the tacit agreement of Najib. UMNO is basically changing its strategy away from 1Malaysia, and going back to the tried and true strategy of frigtening inciting the Malays to back UMNO whole-heartedly by raising racial and religious scar-tactics. UMNO knows that as long as the rural Malay heartland votes for it, it cannot be dislodged from power even if all urban areas or other races do not vote it.

MCA ‘cowards’ for silence over Umno’s racial threats

The MCA are cowards for not speaking up against the divisive racial threats by its Barisan Nasional (BN) senior partner Umno, Selangor DAP chairman Teresa Kok said today.

The Seputeh MP continued her party’s war of words against MCA, saying it should stop accusing the opposition party of fanning racial sentiments among the Chinese as MCA leaders lacked the moral courage to criticise Umno, Utusan Malaysia and Perkasa when the occasion called for it.

“MCA should rename itself the Malaysian Cowards Association for consistently being too chicken to stand up to the divisive racial threats of UMNO, Utusan Malaysia and Perkasa.

“Time and time again, MCA leaders have been too yellow livered to stand up for the interests of the Chinese whom they claim to represent, for fear of hurting their personal political careers,” said Kok in a statement today.

Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia claimed yesterday that the DAP was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajaya and abolish Islam as the country’s official religion.

The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) party has denied this and has lodged a police report today over the matter.

Kok also blamed MCA’s “spinelessness” which led the Barisan Nasional (BN) component party to lose badly in the last general elections.

She accused MCA of using the DAP as a scapegoat to hide the party’s own “internal failings.”

The DAP’s success in winning 12 out of 15 seats contested in the Sarawak state elections proved that it had won not only the support of the Chinese, but the Iban community as well, Kok stated.

“I urge MCA leaders to evolve beyond their selfish for-Chinese-only mentality, withdraw from BN’s race-based politics and work for the interests of all Malaysians, regardless of their ethnic make-up.

“Until MCA leaders find the moral courage in which to do this, it is fitting that they rename themselves the Malaysian Cowards Association that they are widely perceived to be,” she added.

Yes coward indeed.....where is MCA when the rakyat need representatives to speak the truth and distort lies from Utusan/UMNO? MCA using DAP as scapegoat and UMNO using Christians and Chinese as scapegoat to gain support. So sickening and shameless. This is one of the many reasons why we are so fedup wth parties in BN. Can u get it MCA?

Church mulls legal action against Utusan for false reporting

Bishop Antony Selvanayagam (left) said Utusan Malaysia lied about the Penang Catholic Church’s role in an alleged plot to make Malaysia Christian, adding he will consult a lawyer to discuss legal options against the Umno newspaper.

The cleric said neither he nor the Catholic Church were aware of any Christian meeting taking place in Penang as reported by the Malay newspaper, which also said yesterday the meeting was to discuss changing the country’s highest law to put a Christian in place of a Muslim as prime minister.

“That report is not true. No such conference took place in any Catholic church or facility here. As bishop, I would know,” he told The Malaysian Insider when contacted last night.

“That is false reporting,” Selvanayagam said, adding that neither Utusan nor any other person, apart from The Malaysian Insider, had contacted him to verify the report before its publication or since.

Asked if he planned to take action against Utusan Malaysia, he said, “Immediately, I would not be able to say. I would need to consult the Catholic Church and my legal advisor.”

In the front-page article headlined “Malaysia negara Kristian? (Malaysia a Christian country?), the Malay daily reported that “Malam ini pula akan diadakan satu majlis di Pusat Kristian (Katolik) Pulau Pinang di sini dan satu ceramah perdana pula dianjurkan esok. Pertemuan itu dikatakan dianjurkan setiap tahun”.

[In English: “Tonight there will be a function at the Penang Christian Centre (Catholic) here and the public lecture will take place tomorrow. The convention is organised every year.”]

The National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF) has clarified that the meeting reported by Utusan is the Unashamedly Ethical Conference it has co-organised with another group, Marketplace Penang, and two others, including Global Day of Prayer and the Penang Pastors Fellowship.

The NECF stressed that it was not a religious event and the convention was aimed at increasing Christian awareness of social ills, such as corruption, and finding ways to tackle them.

Selvanayagam, who has been bishop since 1980, also dismissed allegations connecting the Catholic Church to a political conspiracy to make Christianity the country’s official religion.

“As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, we are not involved,” he said, and strongly opposed attempts by Muslim groups to drag the Church into the controversy by raising the issue of the Herald’s court case on “Allah”.

Several Muslim organisations, including right-wing Malay rights group Perkasa, have lodged police reports after reading the Utusan report, which was based entirely on allegations by several anonymous bloggers known to be pro-Umno.

The bloggers have accused the DAP of sedition in an alleged conspiracy with Christians to change the country’s highest law to put a Christian in place of a Muslim as prime minister.

To back up their allegation, the bloggers pointed to a grainy photograph showing what they described to be a secret pact between the DAP’s Jelutong MP and pastors at a closed-door dinner party in a Penang hotel on Wednesday.

The DAP has vehemently denied the allegations and its secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, has directed its members to file police reports to counter them.

Bishop what can you do? The best is just keep quite. If you say something, then there will be some counter allegation and nothing is going to favour you. Look, how the home minister immediately laments without compiling or verifying the truth. You are treated as an opposition and thus will be accorded the same treatment so the best is to stay calm. People in Malaysia are not stupid, I see many make good analogy of the political slurs by the Government and its allied or affliated partners. Playing religion is indeed a dangerous game and definitely will hit back. The hit back will be so hard that the one who do such political slurs will never be able to lift his head up.

State your stand on Utusan, Pakatan tells Najib

Datuk Seri Najib Razak must punish Utusan Malaysia for a report which has incited religious tension, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders said today.

Opposition lawmakers said the prime minister could no longer afford to maintain an elegant silence over an article which claimed the DAP was conspiring with Christian leaders to take over Putrajaya and abolish Islam as the country’s official religion.

The DAP has denied this and accused the Umno daily of lying.

“If the prime minister fails to sanction Utusan Malaysia’s headlines today, it will prove that he is party to allowing divisiveness to take root in Malaysian society, which goes against any efforts to bring about unity.

“It would appear that we have a leader who has abdicated responsibility to safeguard the nation from extremism, bigotry and false and inciteful propaganda by keeping his silence and feigning ignorance,” said PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Nurul Izzah told The Malaysian Insider the Utusan article itself was dubious, and questioned its lack of proper sources in which it based its information on.

“What is the intention for such a headline, which smacks of cheap unethical journalism at best, especially considering the sources quoted.

“Enough is enough. Malaysians are peace-loving and loyal to the constitution, as are leaders of Pakatan Rakyat. I urge the prime minister to state his stand and answer the call of duty. Malaysians deserve much more than mere movement of the lips to mouth 1 Malaysia,” she said.

The Lembah Pantai MP said the Umno daily must be taken to task to ensure all published materials go through a thorough check before making it available to Malaysians.

Khalid said the fears Utusan was trying to portray were unfounded.
PAS central committee member Khalid Samad echoed his PR colleague’s remarks, saying this was not the first time Najib had failed to act against Utusan.

“If the government stands back and does nothing... this shows a sign of indecisive leadership,” he told The Malaysian Insider.

“The fears that Utusan is trying to portray are unfounded,” the Shah Alam MP stressed.

Utusan had carried a front-page article today titled “Malaysia, a Christian country?” (Malaysia, negara Kristian?), based entirely on blog postings by several pro-Umno bloggers.

The bloggers had charged the DAP with sedition for trying to change the country’s laws to enable a Christian to be prime minister, pointing to a grainy photograph showing what they described to be a secret pact between the DAP and pastors at a hotel in Penang on Wednesday.

The Federal Constitution does not expressly specify race or religious requirements for the position of prime minister. Article 43(2)(a) of the constitution states only that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong shall appoint as PM a member of Parliament who in his judgment is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the Dewan Rakyat.

In a posting headlined “Agong under threat? DAP wants to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia?” blogger Marahku (marahku.blogspot.com) accused the DAP of trying to amend the federal constitution to allow a Christian to become prime minister.

“The whole point of changing the official religion is to allow a Christian to become prime minister of this country,” the blogger said.

On bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com, the writer claimed to have received a message that the DAP’s Jeff Ooi had organised a dinner for pastors from Sarawak and overseas at the Red Rock Hotel in Jalan Macalister, Penang.

“Among the activities that night included the 35 pastors taking a group oath. They formed a circle and touched each other’s shoulder and vowed in English to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia and put a Christian prime minister in office,” the anonymous writer said in his blog under the headline “Making Christianity the official religion?”

He also pointed to the same grainy picture he posted at the top of his blog page, which he had captioned “Partying pastors or pastors doing the party do and vow to have a Christian as Malaysian prime minister”.

The blogger said it was a seditious and religiously-divisive statement that was never investigated by the police “or at least they did not tell us about any investigations on the matter”.

Mahfuz said Utusan was willing to do anything to get Malay voters.
He called on the authorities to investigate the allegations for sedition, warning that if the authorities failed in their duty the country may be “shattered again”.

The National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF), together with partners Global Day of Prayer, Marketplace Penang and Penang Pastors Fellowship, said the claims against their community were lies, and has already denied the bloggers’ allegations last night.

Similarly, Ooi said the dinner had been organised by the Christian pastors in recognition of the DAP team who had visited them while in Sarawak for the state election and that the prayer sessions — one before dinner and one at the end — were a usual part of their worship, and not a pledge as alleged.

PAS vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said that Utusan’s latest stunt showed that it was willing to do anything to get Malay voters — to the extent of pitting Muslims against Christians.

“Utusan is doing this just to get that 5-7 per cent of Malay votes. They are creating DAP-phobia, Chinese-phobia, Christian-phobia, and for what?

“They (Utusan) are the greatest threat to the country,” Mahfuz told

As usual our PM, will shirk from his responsibility and say it has got nothing to do with UMNO! This is his favourite answer, and if there is a tragedy, his favourite answer is "No Cover Up", but, in the end nothing is done.

After the botched video tape fiasco, now Christianity the official religion of the country, and the Home Minister's prompt response was it was a serious matter! As though the fitnah thrown at another on the video tape is not a serious matter.

Just how can the Rakyat continue to vote in this bunch of jokers to rule a country? Tun Razak and Tun Hussein Onn will be crying in their graves to see their siblings destroying the country they have helped to build so diligently!

Besides SEX, RACE and Religion, what really have you got to offer the Rakyat, UMNO? All these had failed miserably especially the latest SEX video tape and realizing that 10 out of 11 Malaysians do not believe it, you come out with Christianity replacing Islam as the official religion of the country! And again 10 out of 11 Malaysians are not going to believe you, UMNO! Your next sandiwara is to blame the Chinese on non existent events, mark my words, your tactics were all those used during the Japanese Occupation, and we in Pakatan are always ahead of you. UMNO, for the sake of Malaysian unity, disband and join PAS!

Christian leaders condemn claims trying to usurp Islam

Organisers of a Christian meeting in Penang denied today allegations from pro-Umno bloggers that they were conspiring with the DAP to supplant Islam’s position as the country’s official religion in a bid to take over Putrajaya.

The heated religious rhetoric from before the April 16 Sarawak election appeared to have died down immediately after, only to flare up again this week as right-wing Malay groups sounded the alarm over the rising popularity of the Chinese-dominant DAP.

The National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF), together with partners Global Day of Prayer, Marketplace Penang and Penang Pastors Fellowship, said the claims against their community were lies and slammed the pro-Malay rights groups for driving a further wedge to create social disharmony in multicultural Malaysia apart from being seditious.

“The organiser vehemently denies such a claim as being unfounded and totally untrue aimed at creating division and social disharmony in multi-ethnic society of Malaysia and appears to be seditious,” the Christian group said in a statement this evening.

“The so-called special convention this morning was in fact an unashamedly ethical marketplace seminar organised to discuss and address the issue of bribery and corruption in the marketplace and the Christians’ contribution in addressing such issues.

“It has nothing to do with political succession,” the organisers explained.

The group added that last night’s dinner, mentioned in the blogs, was held to honour several pastors from Sarawak who were in Penang for the meeting.

“Such fellowship dinners are common amongst Christians and are part and parcel of the Christian custom of love and fellowship,” it said.

Several pro-Malay rights blogs posted today articles charging the secular party of sedition for trying to change what the bloggers believed to be the country’s laws to enable a Christian to be prime minister, pointing to a grainy photograph showing what they described to be a secret pact between the DAP and pastors at a hotel in Penang yesterday.

The Federal Constitution does not expressly specify race or religious requirements for the position of prime minister. In a posting headlined “Agong under threat? DAP wants to make Christianity the official religion of Malaysia?” blogger Marahku (marahku.blogspot.com) accused DAP of trying to amend the federal constitution to allow a Christian to become prime minister.

“The whole point of changing the official religion is to allow a Christian to become prime minister of this country,” the blogger said.

“In order to change the status of Islam as the official religion of Malaysia, they would not only have to change the constitution with a two-third majority but would also have to get the consent of the Agong, as head of Islam in Malaysia to demote it to second spot behind Christianity... I think the only way DAP is going to achieve this is by putting a gun to the Agung’s head [sic],” he added.

On bigdogdotcom.wordpress.com, the writer claimed to have received a message that the DAP’s Jeff Ooi had organised a dinner for pastors from Sarawak and overseas at the Red Rock Hotel on Jalan Macalister in Penang.

The blogger said it was a seditious and religiously-divisive statement that was never investigated by the police “or at least they did not tell us about any investigations on the matter”.

He called on the authorities to investigate the allegations for sedition warning that if the authorities failed in their duty, the country may be “shattered again”.

At the same time, the blogger sounded the battle cry to Malay-Muslims, urging them to “make a vow to defend the position of Islam as the official religion and the position of Malays as Bumiputra in their own homeland till the last man standing”.

He said the community must stop making excuses because “as an Islamic country, Malaysia has been tolerant of all religious views as long as it does not encroach into Islam and in Sarawak where the Christian population is significantly larger than the Muslim community, there are more churches than mosques to reflect the situation”.

Ooi, the Jelutong MP named in the articles, admitted that the picture posted in the blogs were authentic, but contested that he had organised the dinner, let alone led the Christian leaders in making a pledge to make Christianity the official creed.

“I’m not a Christian,” he told The Malaysian Insider when contacted.

He said the dinner had been organised by the Christian pastors, in recognition of the DAP team who had visited them while in Sarawak for the state election and that the prayer sessions — one before dinner and one at the end — was a usual part of their worship, and not a pledge as alleged.

He added the pastors had also prayed for his safety.

Ooi said he had told Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia the same thing when they called him for a response.

“I suspect the Special Branch has infiltrated the pastors... some of them didn’t want to shake my hand,” he told The Malaysian Insider, when asked how the photograph of the closed-door event made its way onto the websites.

“I’m not disturbed, I’m not concerned because bigdog didn’t call me names,” he added, when asked if he was worried it would be used against him and the DAP.

“But I think the Christians are,” he said.

Everything that the non-Muslims do, especially the Christians, is considered as anti-Islam. I appeal to these so called Muslim NGOs and pro-UMNO bloggers, don't be ridiculously silly. Islam has never been threatened and never will be. Please don't use this as an excuse to paint a negative picture of the Opposition. This is like hitting below the belt. Be a gentleman and bring up issues which are of concern to the rakyat such as eradication of poverty, the rakyat's rights and other pertinent issues.

Making seditious statements bring no gain to you and anyone else. In fact, the backlash will occur and the rakyat will hit back at the ballot box.

Insane, that's what those loggers are, in trying to pit the Malays against the Chinese. If some semblance of disturbances and instability do occur, arising from those mindless and deceitful propaganda and machinations, then the authorities would have "reason" to "believe" them.

Throw some red herrings, and put the blame on the DAP and Chinese; what a clever, but at the same time stupid attempt at creating an artificial instability and make some people scapegoats and bogeymen.

Islam is the official religion enshrined in the constitution, just how could anybody change its status at their whim and fancy? Only kids and those short on grey matter would buy that kind of story. Someone make a police report and let them go after who that marahku blogger.

Obviously that is a blatant attempt at creating racial tension among Malaysians, and for reasons known only to themselves. Such bloggers are nut-cases good only for the dumps. An outcast among sane and right thinking Malaysians indeed.

Such scum and social garbage cannot be allowed to run amok, as their misdemeanour and hooliganism can do harm in subtle ways, especially influencing those who are blind to realities and ignorant.

UMNO must come clean on such callous and lowly posturing.
