Mat Sabu wins PAS deputy presidency

Popular PAS leader Mohamad Sabu has won the party deputy presidency from incumbent Nasharudin Mat Isa while Kelantan leader Datuk Husam Musa has joined two incumbents for the three vice-presidential slots, sources said today.

The other two vice-presidents are incumbents Salahuddin Ayub, who polled the most votes, and Datuk Mahfuz Omar, who came in third among the six vying for the posts. A total of 1,100 delegates cast their ballots in this year's election.

“According to unofficial information, Mat Sabu (picture) won with some 450 votes this time to win over the two other candidates,” a source told ..

Other sources confirmed the information as accurate. It is learnt all the votes were tallied by midnight and the results have been sealed. Official results are scheduled to be announced at 10am.

Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Sabu, was contesting the post for the second straight time against the three-term deputy president Nasharudin and Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, both of whom are seen to leaders from the ulama or scholars’ group.

In the vice-presidential race, the three losing candidates are former Perak Mentri Besar, the popular Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin, Information Chief Idris Ahmad and Kelantan exco member Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah.

Party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was returned unopposed for the fifth term in the elections where another 53 candidates are contesting for the remaining 18 positions in the central working committee.

Voting for the posts of deputy president, vice presidents and the central working committee for 2011-2013 began at 4pm yesterday and lasted three hours.

A kick in the groin area for UMNO!

Sabu is a good rational leader. Congratulations!

another a rotter UMNO...trying to instigator

Datuk Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin expressed confidence that PAS will not stay with the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) alliance for too long, despite the party president’s assurance today.

The Umno supreme council member spoke to reporters after the first National Student Consultative (MPPK) meeting of the year, stopping short of saying that PAS will unite with Umno.

“Last time they said PAS will not cooperate with DAP. Now they cooperate. Today they say they will never break up with DAP. One day they will break up.

“It’s the same thing, all these are political rhetoric. Why take it so seriously?” he said.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang earlier today had put an end to any question of the party leaving PR for Umno despite whispers of unity talks between the Malay parties emerging early this year.

Abdul Hadi stressed that the difference between PAS in PR and Umno in Barisan Nasional (BN) was that the latter sacrifices Islamic principles.

The subject of unity talks between PAS and Umno had dominated the 2009 PAS muktamar, which saw a number of leaders keen on exploring talks with Umno emerging big winners.

More recently, the top PAS and Umno leadership met at a Christmas Eve dinner hosted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong last year, during which the subject of Malay unity was once again broached.

Following the furore over the Christmas Eve meet, Abdul Hadi had reassured partners in PR that the Islamist party was committed to remaining in the pact.

This clearly shows as an Education Minister, how stupid is he. can he proof BN has never twisted their words?? Minister like him should think 10,000 times before saying something stupid and making a clown of themselves. Just like Hisham's statement today. He too sound childish.

Dream On, UMNO, Khaled! Just count yourself lucky if you can hold on to the rural Malay votes! If the Malays in the rural heartland sways PAS way, UMNO will be political history!

UMNO after failing to court PAS is trying to court DAP, and having failed UMNO the bad loser as always is trying to break up PAS and DAP, but the PR parties are made up of much sterner stuffs! They cannot see the continued plunderings of the nation's wealth, at the expense of the poor Rakyat to benefit a few UMNO cronies!

PAS and DAP do not quarrel as often as UMNO and MCA! UMNO/MCA had been in a marriage of convenience for the past 54 years and they are heading for a divorce now, only the shameless MCA is clinging on to UMNO and continuing to kowtow, kowtow and kowtow! We do not need kowtowing politicians! We do not need politicians who kowtow to UMNO to close up the PKFZ case! Berambuslah UMNOsaja! Malaysians will ensure UMNOsaja's political demise come PRU 13! Malaysians, unite, Selamatkan Malaysia!

RoS won’t deregister party

The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has withdrawn its plans to deregister PKR for allegedly breaching its constitution, party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said today.

He disclosed the RoS’s decision was based on the party’s reply to a show-cause letter.

“PKR has been informed that RoS will not carry out their plans to deregister the party,” Saifuddin said in a statement.

The Machang MP said that RoS was “satisfied” with the explanation provided in PKR’s reply to the original show-cause letter.

He also said that party will be dropping all legal charges against RoS.

The show-cause letter sent by Registrar Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman on May 9 said that PKR had “wilfully violated Clause 32.2.1 of the party constitution by sacking Rajagopal a/l Andaikkalam on 01/04/2009 and 27/04/2009 without first being investigated and heard by the disciplinary board”.

PKR has maintained that the clause in question does not exist in its constitution, and has pointed out that RoS had made several mistakes in their letter as the member the party had sacked was named A. Jayagopal, and he was sacked on April 26, 2009.

According to Saifuddin, Jayagopal was sacked for contesting in the Bukit Selambau by-election as an independent against PKR candidate S. Manikumar, who won the seat on April 7, 2009.

Umno anti-1 Malaysia

DAP’s Lim Kit Siang told Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek today to observe Umno’s refusal to discard racial politics before defining 1 Malaysia as the government’s “Malaysian first, race second” vision.

Lim pointed out to the MCA president that Umno’s repeated attempts to lure PAS into forming a unity government with Barisan Nasional (BN) was in itself against the concept of 1 Malaysia.

“Why is it that Umno has to try to entice PAS for the sake of Malay unity? If you want to talk about 1 Malaysia, why not BN instead lure PR to form a unity government?” he said when contacted.

Since Election 2008, Umno has made numerous attempts to draw PAS into its fold, ostensibly using Malay unity to bargain with the Islamist party.

Lim reminded Dr Chua of his party’s constant criticism of DAP’s partnership with PAS in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pact and asked the former minister why MCA has yet to strongly condemn Umno for courting PAS.

Referring to a recent report in an online news portal, Lim noted that Umno had purportedly offered three federal ministerships and five mentri besar posts to PAS if the party were to agree to a unity government.

“What is MCA’s position on this? MCA has been attacking DAP for co-operating with PAS but Umno is trying to do the same. MCA should issue an ultimatum to Umno or immediately quit BN now,” he said.

Lim also questioned if Dr Chua, by his definition of 1 Malaysia, was predicting an end to race-based parties in BN.

“When will BN dissolve all communal-based parties and form one party that is open to all Malaysians?” he said.

Lim said most of BN’s Cabinet ministers have failed to accept the “Malaysian first, race second” concept, despite Dr Chua’s definition of 1 Malaysia today.

“It has taken Dr Chua two years and two months to realise that we should be Malaysians first and our races, second. But in any case, he is yet to convince all MCA leaders to state the same.

“And what about our Cabinet ministers? Our own DPM (deputy prime minister) has already said he is Malay first and Malaysian second,” he said.

Lim added that Dr Chua’s statement was likely borne of the latter’s struggle to find his footing in the “maelstrom of Umno’s racial politics” and his attempt to save MCA from losing relevance

share the same toilet bowl ...UDA says land sale to benefit Bumiputera agenda

UDA Holdings defended today the sale of prime land in downtown Kuala Lumpur, insisting that the RM215.5 million recouped was needed to shore up its depleting cash reserves.

The agency tasked with ensuring Malays have a bigger stake in urban economy activity said that Bumiputeras would not lose out from the sale to Mutiara Goodyear which is needed to boost UDA’s coffers that stands at just RM90 million.

Chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the sale was approved by the board so that it could channel funds to develop new townships in the Klang Valley.

He said this in response to claims by right-wing Umno Youth leaders who accused UDA — formed after race riots in 1969 — of selling out Malay land by agreeing to the sale of the 1.15 hectares on Jalan Sultan Ismail.

“The sale will benefit Bumiputeras by allowing UDA to continue to be competitive with a solid financial position.

“Mutiara Goodyear offered the best price of RM1,400 per square foot as compared to the market value of RM800. Also, Mutiara Goodyear is a Bumiputera company,” the Pulai MP said.

UDA has come under fire recently from Malay hardliners in Umno and Perkasa as well as Utusan Malaysia for allegedly abandoning the Bumiputera agenda after it chose not to appoint Bumiputera joint-venture turnkey investors for the proposed Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC), located on prime land in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.

Umno Youth information chief Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican and exco member Tengku Azman Tengku Zainol Abidin also said yesterday that the Jalan Sultan Ismail deal would hurt Bumiputera interests.

Nur Jazlan has denied these accusations, saying UDA has no choice but to be competitive as it no longer received any direct assistance from the government.

The corporatised government agency, whose assets are estimated to be worth RM2 billion, is over RM900 million in debt.

He also added today that the Jalan Sultan Ismail sale would in fact pay for the outstanding RM104 million owed for the former Pudu Jail site that is to be developed into the BBCC.

The sale to Mutiara Goodyear is currently awaiting approval from the finance ministry.

oh well, these malay-umnoputras are good at one thing, selling lands and contracts to earn a fast buck! there is no difference between the umno youth and the chairman of uda, they both came from the same toilet bowl - umno ! its just one is having the cake and the other is not.

Where were all the money gone? UDA is formed to create Bumiputra business centres and townships in urban areas. What can they show to justify their existence? May be Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Bandar Tun Husein Onn. Bumiputra business centres are at the basements of Pertama Complex and at Pudu Raya. The Central Market is a gone case. Now they claim they have even depleted their cash reserves and land bank.

It doesn't matter whether Mutiara Goodyear is a Bumi company or not... all it matters is whether Perkosa has a slice of it or not... they don't defend the Bumi/Malay rights, they defend their pocket!

garrulous frog....Ibrahim wields faith to ward off ‘Umno stooge’ claims

Datuk Ibrahim Ali declared today his willingness to swear on Allah’s name that he acts of his own free will and has never been influenced by Umno.

In saying so, the fiery Perkasa president belittled Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for refusing to do the same to prove his innocence in the sex video scandal and Sodomy II case.

“You, Anwar, were not brave enough to swear with (Mohd) Saiful (Bukhari Azlan) and Datuk Trio. Who is the real comedian here, if not yourself?” he asked.

The Pasir Mas MP was responding to Anwar’s criticisms of him over the weekend where the PKR de facto leader called Ibrahim the “worst example of Malaysian politics”.

Ibrahim’s Perkasa has also often been accused of being an offshoot of Umno and part of the Najib administration’s strategy to draw support from the hard-line Malay electorate.

But Ibrahim insisted today that by levelling such accusations against him, Anwar was merely adding to his already growing list of sins.

“O’ my old friend, I am not as bad or as evil as you. I have never been anyone’s stooge, or what’s worse, your stooge for life,” he said.

Ibrahim accused Anwar of destroying Umno as well as PAS and its spiritual advisor, Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, with his support for pluralism and attempt to spread disunity among the Malays.

He further claimed Anwar was insincere, pointing to the latter’s days in Abim, when he had been critical of Umno and later supported PAS, before shifting allegiances to Umno until he was sacked and entered PKR.

“Your story is long, Anwar. You are rotten to the core and you are the worst... but you are good at acting. So go ahead and act. You can cheat your family and your friends who are blind all the time but you cannot cheat me all the time,” he said.

Ibrahim described his relationship with Anwar as “love-hate”, adding that although at one point they were both in the same party, he had never been the latter’s “yes man”.

He added that he has been “clean” throughout his political career and hence, was a more powerful politician than Anwar.

“I know now, that after 30 years, it seems I am more powerful than you, Anwar. I pity you, Anwar, but what can be done? Repent and stop destroying the country and its people,” he said.

If all the crooks in Malaysia are brave enough to swear in God's name that they are innocent, will this clown, Ibrahim 'the Stooge' Ali proclaim them as innocent?

Whatever you said I still think you're an UMNo stooge and nothing constructive comes from you. Just a child who likes pointing fingers and cry wolf. Utterly useless MP!

Facebook group to rally against price hike

The growing local Facebook group known as the No Mega Tower (NMT) community is mounting a 24-hour anti-price hike cyber protest from midnight tonight.

Bolstered by past support, the NMT is hoping to ride on rising public anger over Putrajaya’s subsidy cuts and pressure the Najib administration into carrying out what the group called “real reforms” through three methods.

In a statement today, the 296,000-strong cyber community demanded a pay cut for ministers, top civil officers and extend the policy to government-linked companies besides publicly disclosing details over major deals such as with the independent power producers and the controversial MyEmail project.

The Facebook pressure group also wants the government to curb its spending to cut down on waste and corruption and a comprehensive package deal to aid the poor, namely cheaper transport fees.

“We are not opposing economic reforms. We do understand that subsidy needs to be cut eventually,” it said in a statement today.

“We however oppose an ill-thought out subsidy rationalisation programme that would threaten the economic, social and political stability of this country,” it added.

It urged the public to demonstrate their support by changing their social network statuses to the following messages: “Saya Tak Nak Barang Naik! Tak Nak MyEmail! Tak Nak Mega Tower!” or “No price hike! No MyEmail! No Mega Tower!”

The NMT said supporters could also post the messages direct to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Facebook page and personal website.

The group, which was founded on October 16 last year to lobby against the RM5 billion Menara Warisan, called on Putrajaya to pledge it will not bail out the unpopular 100-storey mega tower.

The question is not just about protesting price hike. Read the article and you will notice that the argument is that, do other measures BEFORE removing subsidies. MyEmail? MegaTower? Stop the stupid toll concessionaire contracts that is lopsided? Stop subsidizing the IPPs to sell TNB electricity and say that the lopsided contract cannot be changed? Don't bailout the water concessionaires? Building all sorts of infrastructure at 5 to 10x what it may cost others? There's just so much more wastages, why not curb those first?

other parts of the world they do not waste money on totally useless projects like "MyEmail".

And they do not have UMNO that plundered the nation's coffer either.

When their tax payers pay their tax, they know full well that their tax money will be used for nation building.

We in Malaysia?

When we pay our taxes we know full well that a large part of our money will go into the pockets of UMNOputras.

Do you see the difference now, buddy?

UMNOPORNO government robbed in broad daylight....Power rates up 7pc June 1, gas prices also hiked

The Najib administration announced today it will raise electricity prices by an average 7.12 per cent from June 1 in an effort to trim its burgeoning subsidy bill, but promised the hike will not affect some 75 per cent of domestic consumers.

Officials said natural gas prices would also rise by RM3.00 per mmBtu each six months until it reached market levels, according to a report by the Reuters news agency. The government said it will still spend some RM25 billion to subsidise the gas bill this year.

Power prices will now rise by as much as 2.3 sen per kilowatt hour.

The price charged by state oil company Petronas for power generation will also climb to RM13.70 per mmBtu from RM10.70, government officials said.

Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Peter Chin today said the 7.12 per cent increase in electricity tariffs was due to the rise in natural gas prices.

Industrial and commercial consumers will experience an average increase of 8.35 per cent in their power bills.

However, domestic consumers with a monthly consumption up to 200kWh (lifeline band), along with the next 100kWh (300kWh total), will not be affected by the tariff increase.

Domestic consumers in the 301 to 1000 kWh per month band will experience a “minimal” electricity bill increase, from RM0.07 to RM30.30.

“The lifeline band is maintained at 200kWh/month... around 3.3 million households will continue to enjoy the subsidised unit rate of 21.8 sen/kWh, and encompasses 200,000 poor households,” said Chin.

The increase will not affect 75 per cent of domestic users, he added, sparing around 44.4 million from a total 59.4 million households.

Chin also said the waiving of electricity bills for domestic users who record less than RM20 per month would cease this coming December. The government is currently spending RM122 million to provide free electricity to 900,000 users in this category.

A 10 per cent discount from the standard tariff price will be given to educational institutions which are partially funded by the government.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yackop said that despite the increase in gas prices, the government would still be spending an estimated worth of RM25.64 billion on gas subsidies alone this year.

He told reporters that the gas price increase is expected to cause an inflation level of 0.27 per cent this year.

“This decision is consistent with the government’s efforts in reducing subsidies in stages until it reaches a market price level,” said Nor Mohamed.

Well ... For you its breakfast.

For poor folks, it's more than breakfast.

Trust me, I've been poor before and I know the feeling of sleeping on total empty stomach.

How come Rakyat have to bear the increase in cost while the IPPs profit out of the Rakyat hardship? This BN must be replaced and all IPPs concession agreements be reviewed.

The Malays should not make to believe that UMNO can take care of them, no no no,, only the cronies of UMNO get the cream

We can expect more price hikes from the Bankrupsi Negara regime that can only ask people to "change their lifestyle" while the government wastes taxpayers' monies on trying to persuade youths to keep it in power.
Let's see the IPP secret sweetheart deals!

SYABAS chairman so pimps UMNO try to fool the people...Selangor’s poor to get free water for a year

Syabas is set to exempt the poor in Selangor from paying for their water for a year, according to its executive chairman, Tan Sri Rozali Ismail today.

He informed that their staff will use a survey to decide on who gets an exemption, as reported by Bernama Online.

However, he said the programme will be reviewed next year.

He said that poor families with many children have many burdens and were not intentionally failing to pay their bills.

The people must Reject BN’s Putrajaya

Young voters should push for true political reforms by rejecting Barisan Nasional (BN) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s “false transformations,” PKR has charged.

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar (picture) said today that the only way corruption and power abuse in this country could be stopped was through the ballot box — by voting for a change in the federal government.

“Now what the youth must defend is not the Putrajaya of political and economic pirates but real change in Putrajaya that starts with political reforms. While BN continues to offer fool’s gold, we in Pakatan Rakyat (PR) offer real hope and real prosperity for a Better Malaysia for all.

The youth must unite for a new Putrajaya,” she said in a statement, in response to Najib’s call to youths yesterday to defend Putrajaya from the opposition if they wished to see Malaysia transformed into a developed country.

Nurul Izzah dismissed Najib’s remarks as a “sure sign of desperation” which was a meaningless call for the country’s transformation as BN had failed to address many other matters relating to power abuse, corruption, economic mismanagement, broken scholarship promises and overpriced water concessionaire debt bail-out.

“Needless to say, the list goes on beyond belief,” she added.

The Lembah Pantai MP questioned why the government could not invest in local and overseas scholarships for all SPM top scorers if they could bail out Selangor’s water debts and continue to subsidise Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

“Is it because the other payments go into their own pockets, while scholarships go into the pockets of our deserving students who need not pay commissions to anyone?” she asked.

young won’t support ‘corrupt’ Putrajaya

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident young voters will not support Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming general elections, despite the success of Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Million Youths Assembly in Putrajaya yesterday.

The Pakatan Rakyat (PR) defacto leader said today that no youth movement would be supportive of a government administration which practiced cronyism and corruption at the highest level of power.

“I have no fear at all,” Anwar told a gathering of 200 people during a session with young professionals here.

“No youth movement would support a decadent, corrupt, obsolete system, I am sure they (young voters) will not defend it,” Anwar stressed.

Prime Minister Najib called on youths yesterday to defend Putrajaya from the opposition if they wished to see Malaysia transformed into a developed country.

His deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had told reporters that the total visitors to the assembly surpassed the one million mark.

While Najib has argued his case for economic transformation by keeping BN in Putrajaya, PKR has charged that only way for change was through political reforms — by voting for a change in the federal government.

Malaysians hate corruptions and UMNO & BN are practising corruption with so many mega scandals losing billions of rakyat money !!!

The Young Malaysians hate corruptions and with Najib appointing all corrupt UMNOPUTRAS to high post, evil UMNO & Bn will be voted out for good in PRU 13!

The crowd gather at Putrajaya could be large but to claim it reached a million maybe an overstatement or exaggerated. BN should not be overjoyed with huge crowd at the events as it may not translated into support for them in GE 13 if the current trend around the world are use as a yardstick.

Dr M threatened Anwar before sacking

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed gave him an ultimatum in 1998, a day before his sacking as the deputy prime minister.

According to Anwar, the former prime minister told him to voluntarily step down as DPM and in return, he would receive some form of monetary compensation, but if he did not comply with this, charges would be framed against him (Anwar).

“Mahathir (picture) told me...you have wife, a family, its better if you resign voluntarily, if not charges will be brought against you,” Anwar said today during a dialogue with young professionals.

The PKR defacto leader’s remarks were in response to a question from the audience asking him if it was true that such a situation had occured, and was highlighted by writer Ziauddin Sardar in a book.

“Yes, it is true because I told him (Ziauddin) that...I also went against Dr Mahathir, and was wrongfully imprisoned and subsequently beaten half to death.

“It was the only time I spoke harshly to him (Dr Mahathir),” said Anwar.

He said that he bore no ill-will and grudges against his former mentor, and forgave him for what happened.

Anwar was charged with sodomy and corruption in 1998 after he was sacked from the Cabinet and was later convicted and jailed for both offences.

He was freed in September 2004 and later resurrected his political career by winning back his Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat in a by-election in 2008, which had been held in the interim by his wife.

He led the loose pact of PKR, the DAP and PAS to a historic sweep of five states and 82 parliamentary seats in Election 2008.

But the 63-year-old PKR de facto leader is currently facing sodomy charges for the second time in his life.

He has denied the charge, describing it as “evil, frivolous lies by those in power” when the charge was read out to him. He is charged under section 377B of the Penal Code and can be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years’ jail and whipping upon conviction.

The trial began 18 months after Anwar was charged in court in August 2008.

Kuantan residents will be ‘lab rats’

A public health scientist today warned residents that the RM700 million rare earth refinery being built here would effectively make “lab rats” of the 700,000 population.

Citing reports on various nuclear incidents including the 1986 Chernobyl disaster that crippled the Soviet economy, Dr Chan Chee Khoon said experts could not agree on the effects of low-level radiation.

“There is no clear consensus among experts on the risks of low-level exposure,” the epidemiologist said at a meeting with stakeholders. “You don’t want to be the first lab rats to test this.”

The controversial rare earth plant being built by Australian miner Lynas Corp has raised fears of a repeat of the radiation pollution from a similar plant in Bukit Merah, Ipoh.

The Asian Rare Earth (ARE) plant in Perak has been linked to birth defects and at least eight cases of leukaemia in the past five years, seven of which were fatal.

Nearly 20 years after it was shuttered, the plant is still the subject of a RM300 million cleanup.

Putrajaya bowed to public pressure in Kuantan and last month put on ice the plant being built by Lynas Corp, pending a month-long review by international experts.

The meeting this evening between various anti-Lynas groups was to work out strategies before a series of meetings with the panel this week, which they see as their best chance to scupper Lynas’s plans.

Dr Chan, a consultant at Universiti Malaya’s medical faculty, said Lynas’s claims of low-level radiation from its operations was not enough.

“It does not take into account ‘internal emitters’ due to inhaling or ingesting radioactive particles,” he said. “Internal emitters cause a trillion times the radiation of a particle that is one metre away from you.”

Lynas expects no delay to its plans to begin operations in September as it maintains the plant is safe.

It is anticipating a windfall of RM8 billion a year from 2013 onwards from the rare earth metals crucial to the manufacture of high-technology products such as smartphones, hybrid cars and bombs.

Someone in BN Govt will be the biggest beneficiary of this project, neveer mind that the rakyat's life & helath is being compromised.

The Kuantan people, if become lab rats, will not be the first batch of human lab rats in Malaysia.

Those living in Perak were the first batch.

And to make the matter worse - if we lose this fight to keep Lynas out of Malaysia, there will be a third batch of human lab rats in Malaysia, and the fourth batch, the fifth batch ....

In other words, if you do NOT want your children (and their children) to become human lab rats, pick up your ass and do your best to KEEP LYNAS OUT OF MALAYSIA !
