Ibrahim Ali says ‘not publicity-hungry’

Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali has insisted he was not an attention seeker, blaming reporters for making him comment on issues that have resulted in his opinions being published.

Replying to MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, who called him a “publicity seeker”, Ibrahim claimed that his statements made on MCA were a result of constant heckling from reporters “wanting him to comment on so many issues”.

“I’m not at all publicity hungry. If ever my statement came out [it] is because the reporter(s) ask and insist [on] me to comment on many issues."

“Now, in a day, at least 20 reporters call me and I can’t concentrate on my job,” the Pasir Mas MP complained via a text message to The Malaysian Insider last night.

According to Ibrahim, he had to continually respond to questions fielded by reporters, claiming that failure to comply would see him labelled “arrogant.”

“If I don't respond then they say I’m ‘sombong’(arrogant),” he said.

While stressing that Perkasa was just a group, Chua said the Perkasa chief was reaping all the publicity he could gain from the constant rebuttal of his statements, seen by some to be extreme in nature.

“Maybe it is through this constant rebuttal that he (Ibrahim) finds a lot of publicity and gets enjoyment out of it,” Dr Chua had told reporters yesterday afternoon.

He had stated that Ibrahim’s support was contrary to the prime minister’s 1 Malaysia platform which, he said, was all-inclusive and more moderate.

Dr Chua’s criticism did not sit well with the Perkasa chief.

He alluded that Dr Chua did not need to be a publicity seeker, since his past sex scandal which was leaked through video had garnered him enough attention.

“Of course Soi Lek don’t need publicity anymore, because his sex video is more than enough [for him] not to be hungry [for] publicity,” Ibrahim added.

He had previously said the Chinese should be grateful for Barisan Nasional’s (BN) aid promised to them during the Hulu Selangor by-election, and had also urged the BN government to stop giving out support to the Chinese, due to the poor support from the Chinese during Sunday’s by-election.

Possible that he is just a misinformed, intellectually challenged, blinkered, opinionated and easily manipulated racist. Very possible.

“Of course Soi Lek don’t need publicity anymore, because his sex video is more than enough [for him] not to be hungry [for] publicity,” Ibrahim added.

If Ibrahim can give such a remarks. Surely it'll be an insult to the MCA president.
