The Washington Post named Najib one of the winners

A columnist from The Washington Post named Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as one of the winners for his effort to meet with President Obama Barack. Written by Al Kamen, he published the column ‘In the Loop’ a day after the Nuclear Security Summit.

Some of the 36 leaders from 46 countries that attended the summit were invited by Obama for bilateral meetings with the president privately thereafter. Kamen said the winners were leaders that had bilateral meeting with Obama as it showed their prestige and importance.

The columnist named a few winners – Hu Jintao, Chinese President; King Abdullah of Jordan, Nigerian acting president Goodluck Jonathan, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, President Viktor Yanukovich of Ukraine, President Serzh Sargsian of Armenia and also Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib.

According to Kamen, Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama failed to get a private meeting with Obama. The meeting and consultation between Najib and Obama lasted about 40 minutes before the summit began.
When media asked Najib on his meeting with Obama, the prime minister said it shows that Malaysia is important enough to get hold of Obama for a meeting.

Five leaders from other Southeast Asian countries also attended the summit - Indonesian Vice-President Boediono, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Thai Deputy Premier Trairong Suwankiri and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. However, Najib was the only leader from Southeast Asia who got the bilats with Obama.

Only one wrote something about it? How much money did it cost? How much money had Malaysians to pay for our PM to see the President of America? How much did the trip cost us? Who did join in and paid nothing for it? How much did the shopping cost?

AND WHAT WILL WE GET BACK????????????????????????? Nothing! Because Malaysia is not important for America! We will run out of Oil and Gas soon and then, what do we have what America needs? Malay maids are not first priority for Americans! What else? Proton cars? No! Batik? No! Movies? No since they do not speak Malay! Music? No way! So, what do we get back from this heavy investment?

the headline make me remember the song 'money cant buy me love' by the beetles. I suppose someone has bought over Washington Post. and Washington Post voted Him as one of the winners for being the" Best Politician Corrupter of the Year" ..he he he

Najib says reports on fuel sales cut to Iran incorrect

Foreign news reports quoting Datuk Seri Najib Razak as saying that Malaysia had cut off gasoline supplies to Iran are incorrect, the prime minister said.

The prime minister said Petronas was involved in a spot sale to Iran in mid-March under a third party deal but since then there had been no requests.

“It is not correct, it was not a decision taken by Petronas per se. It involved a spot sale and there was no requirement anymore, so they don’t do it (anymore),” he told Malaysian reporters yesterday.

“It is a third party deal that was done in mid-March, not now. I was a bit surprised, a lot of noise has been made out of this thing,” said Najib (picture), who is on the final day of his week-long visit to Washington and New York.

Najib said the transaction was purely commercial and if there were further requests for spot sales, it would be up to the parties involved.

News reports had linked the halt in sales to the international pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme and to the run-up to the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington last week during which Najib had a bilateral meeting with US President Barack Obama for the first time.

Najib had said earlier that Iran had the right to use nuclear for peaceful purposes but Malaysia would not support Iran’s nuclear weapon programme.

BN, PR, 2 independents fight for Hulu Selangor

Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) Datuk Zaid Ibrahim will defend the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) P. Kamalanathan and two independents — V. Chandran and Johan Md Diah — in the April 25 by-election.

Returning officer Nor Hisham Md Diah confirmed them after no objections were received when the objection period ended at 11am. A fifth hopeful, J. Anuradha, claimed the police and the Election Commission (EC) blocked her from contesting and has now offered her support to PR after opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim spoke to her.

The by-election is Selangor’s first but the country’s 10th since Election 2008.

PR and BN supporters had crowded the nomination centre in Kuala Kubu Baru since morning to see candidates file their papers for the parliamentary seat that was left vacant on the death of PKR MP Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad, who won by a narrow 198 votes against four-term BN lawmaker Datuk G. Palanivel in 2008.

PKR, DAP and PAS make up the unofficial PR which won an unprecedented four more states and 82 federal seats in Election 2008, denying BN its customary two-thirds parliamentary majority.

PKR had named Zaid to convince Hulu Selangor’s 64,500 voters that it should continue returning the party to Parliament to keep the ruling BN in check. He was elected the Kota Baru MP in 2004 but was dropped by Umno in 2008.

“Nomination papers submitted. Will know by 12 noon if everything in order,” Zaid wrote in his Twitter microblogging account.

Zaid earlier arrived outside the nomination centre to join Anwar and Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who is the Hulu Selangor election director. He then entered the centre with his proposer and seconder when nominations opened at 9am.

Also with them were PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and other PR leaders.

Their supporters thronged outside the nomination centre and scuffled with police who had cordoned off the entire area. The PR supporters chanted “Reformasi” and “Hancur BN” to the tune of “When The Saints Go Marching In”, adding a festive air to the occasion.

However, police later moved their trucks between the PR and BN supporters when the opposing crowds got too near to each other.

Kamalanathan arrived at 9.20am with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar, MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. Others who joined them were Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, MCA vice-president Datuk Ng Yen Yen, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and PPP president Datuk M. Kayveas.

There were some scuffles earlier and MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu injured his leg when he was pushed against some barbed wire. A few other MIC officials also suffered similar injuries.

Palanivel, the MIC deputy president, arrived after the nomination process was over and joined BN leaders at the nomination centre. He was earlier slated to represent BN but fractious negotiations between Umno and MIC saw his name dropped in favour of Kamalanathan.

Both the BN and PR candidates are fresh faces in Selangor and creating history of sorts by chronicling their campaign on the Twitter microblogging website.

“Historic first election in Malaysia w/ both main candidates on Twitter. @PKamalanathan for BN & @zaidibrahim for PKR. Follow them. #P94,” tweeted Khairy, himself an avid fan of the service.

Zaid himself described the excitement of the day in a tweet, adding hashtags to add the tweet to trending topics on the site.

“Good morning everyone. Big day today. Let’s make it count. Will need your support. Will tweet as often as possible. #fb #p94,” the lawyer-turned-politician tweeted.

The 44-year-old Kamalanathan, who leads the rebranding of MIC after its disastrous 2008 electoral outing, was also actively sending out messages using the Blackberry phone, now a standard accessory for politicians.

“Just arrived at KKB BN Centre. Thousands of BN supporters are here. Hidup BN! The first supporter I met came all the way from Sabah!” he tweeted.

The EC said some 37 nomination forms had been purchased ahead of the nomination which began at 9am at the Hulu Selangor Sports and Multipurpose Hall here.

Some 1,000 policemen were on duty to ensure a trouble-free nomination and they also implemented a one-way road system around the town to prevent congestion and to separate supporters of the two coalitions.

The respective delegations later left the nomination centre to begin their campaign until polling day. Both BN and PR are using a combination of personal visits and night-time ceramahs to get their message across to the voters.

Dr M: Don’t put APCO bill on my tab

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said today he disagrees with the Najib administration for spending a whopping RM76 million to arrange a meeting between the prime minister and US President Barack Obama earlier this week.

“Meeting is good but to say this money is spent because of what happened in the past, I don’t think is good,” the former premier said, rubbishing claims the government needed to spend the enormous sum of money.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz had disclosed this week the amount paid to global public relations firm, APCO Worldwide, and claimed it was necessary to “repair” Malaysia-US ties strained during his 22-year rule from 1981 to 2003.

“I don’t care,” Dr Mahathir said, when asked to comment on Nazri’s charge.

“Whether the ties are good or bad, the fact is the US has not done anything that would show they were offended by us,” he added, citing the absence of official US complaints lodged with his administration.

Dr Mahathir also pointed out that investments from the US continued to flow into Malaysia.

“We did not get anything from the US,” he claimed, but was quick to make an exception that the world military superpower had given “one million US dollars” (RM3.2 million at current rates) to Malaysia “for the training of our armed forces”.

“They want it back? We have one million US dollars,” he quipped.

Dr Mahathir was speaking to reporters after delivering a keynote speech here, in conjunction with the 44th anniversary celebration of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), a government agency formed to aid the indigenous community.

He appeared disinterested in continuing the subject, noting that he was no longer in power. He noted that the Najib administration had the authority to do as it sees fit with federal funds.

“If I’m in power, I have my own way of doing things,” he said with a smile, capping the subject.

This old man is talking again. This is just another 'wayang kulit' perform by DrM. Knowing very well his is Najib/UMNO puppeteer.

The question now is why spent such a huge money for lobbyist and morever which is link to "israelis" We don't support this move at all. Unless Najib announce that they too support Israel adminstration due to their compentecies or anything else.

Teoh’s family wants PM to guarantee Dr Pornthip’s safety

The late Teoh Beng Hock’s family wants Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to guarantee Thai pathologist Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand’s (picture) safety should she testify in the on-going inquest into his death.

Teoh’s family, accompanied by the DAP’s Lim Kit Siang and Anthony Loke, told reporters that they hoped the PM would keep to his promise made to them on July 28, 2009, when he said that the federal government would do its best to find out the truth being Teoh’s death.

“It was never an easy decision for us to exhume Beng Hock’s body for a second autopsy. The decision was an unimaginably tough one for the parents. We made the decision because of Dr Pornthip’s testimony in the inquest that Beng Hock might have been tortured and strangled. Furthermore, she testified that there was an 80 per cent possibility that Beng Hock’s death was caused by homicide and not suicide. We hope that Dr Pornthip can help us find out the truth of Beng Hock’s death,” said Teoh Lee Lan, Teoh’s sister.

She said the family was “disappointed” that Dr Pornthip had, over the weekend, declined to come due to “political pressure”.

“Luckily, Dr Pornthip said yesterday she is willing to testify at the inquest if there is an iron-clad guarantee of her safety from the Malaysian government.”

Teoh’s parents, who were also present, kept their silence and let Lee Lan do the talking.

Lee Lan listed three conditions that they wanted Najib to fulfil:

1.An official guarantee from the government and the Attorney-General’s Chambers on her safety;

2.She must be able to perform her duty as an independent witness for the Teoh case; and

3.Her on-going investigations in southern Thailand where thousands have died in a Muslim separatist insurgency will not be affected.

“We sincerely hope that this is an understanding and can be clarified as soon as possible. If because of one misunderstanding and Beng Hock’s inquest ends with a question mark, it will be our greatest regret forever.”

Teoh’s inquest is set to resume on April 20, the same date as his birthday.

“We hope Dr Pornthip’s testimony can be the best birthday present for Beng Hock,” said Lee Lan.

“The case has gone on for too long, this is a tragedy. The PM should hear about this plea soon, he’s got a blog, Twitter, Facebook… there’s no reason why he would not know, no matter where he may be,” said Lim.

The flashy Thai pathologist had testified in court here that Teoh’s death was “80 per cent homicide”, contradicting Malaysian pathologists who say the political aide could have fallen to his death or suicide.

Dr Pornthip’s second testimony will be crucial to the inquest, and to prove allegations that there was foul play in Teoh’s death.

Teoh, 30, had been questioned by anti-graft officers investigating claims his boss had misused state funds. He was found dead on July 16 last year, nine floors below the Selangor MACC office in Shah Alam.

Show your gratitude to Dr M, vote for BN, make Zaid eat his words – Mukhriz tells Hulu S’gor voters

Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, the Member of Parliament of Jerlun has called on the voters of Hulu Selangor to show their gratitude and thanks to his father, the former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed. He said that the voters there should show how much they appreciate his father by voting for the BN (Barisan Nasional) at the upcoming by-election of the parliamentary seat.

Mukhriz who is also the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry was commenting on the remark made by Datuk Zaid Ibrahim who said that if BN wins the by-election it would be used as the opportunity for Dr Mahathir to ‘come back to power’. Mukhriz said “If the voters in the constituency cooperated with each other and did this, it would send a strong message to Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the Opposition's candidate for the seat. I myself have gone down to the ground in Hulu Selangor and was made very welcome which I think is because of the people's appreciation of what my father had done for them. Let us (BN) show to Zaid Ibrahim that his remarks will come back to haunt him."

Pornthip must provide details of threat if she wants us to guarantee her safety – Home Minister

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, the Home Minister has called on Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, the renowned Thai pathologist who is involved in the inquest on Teoh Beng Hock’s death to provide details of how she was threatened if she wants the government to ensure her safety when testifying. Pornthip said that she decided to pull out from testifying after there were ‘signals’ which threatened her safety.

She cited that it was ‘political pressure’ which forced her not to continue assisting in the investigations. Hishammuddin said “Good (that she is willing to testify) but let me know what she is afraid of, let me know who has been pressuring her, let me know what is the threat to her security and I will ensure that the police will do whatever it takes to ensure she comes to court. So give it to me. Give it to me today and tomorrow I’ll ensure her security. That is a general statement. It is very hard for us to give assurance when we don’t know what threat she is talking about. She is the only person who knows what the threat is against her,”

Hahaha! Mr Home Minister, another "flip flop" familiar act of UMNO-BN govt?... guarantee publicly given to her on her safety by AG if she came to testify.
Hishammuddin Hussein, what a dumb thing to ask from Dr Pornthip, the Thai pathologist for details. Are you an UMNO pimp or a HM??
Do you think she is asking for protection for fun? Many murders happened in Bolehland still left unanswered, was she not justified to ask for her safety while in the country. she was already been harassed on her previous visit?
HM, you owe it to a foreign guest f her safety, while in this country performing her duty to solve a murdered case. Either, you behave like an honorable gentleman not trying to retract yourt assurance given together with AG or forever, you will remain a shame to the nation, a pariah p*g arse in the eyes of the world.

Dr Pornthip decides to testify after all

Malaysian politics are very much renowned for U-turns and yet another took place yesterday where Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, the renowned Thai pathologist involved in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest decided that she will be testifying after all. Pornthip was involved in the second autopsy of the late Teoh but has recently said that she is withdrawing from the case due to ‘political pressure’ from the Malaysian government.

Since that statement, politicians from both sides of the divide has come out to blame each other on reasons for her doing so. But yesterday, Pornthip said that she will testify since there is a guarantee from Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein and Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, the AG that she will be safe. She said "I'm willing to go if there is an official guarantee from the government of Malaysia and the Attorney-General's Chambers on my safety as well as the freedom to perform my professional duty as an independent witness for the Teoh case. I accepted an invitation from the Selangor government as a volunteering independent expert because I considered it as a case where a fellow human being has suffered. However, what I have encountered while trying to conduct my work in Malaysia has given me a very uneasy feeling."

Dr Pornthip, she is a brave lady...full marks to her fighting for human justice. She has gained deep admiration from the decent people in Malaysia. We must give her the full moral support...good people are hard to come by....especially in Bolehland, infested with filthy UMNO Melayu swines!

To be fair, Bolehland is not only infested with filthy UMNO Melayu Swines, it is also infested by MCA and MIC lapdogs.

Sometimes just wish these people would just die... like go on a "rakyat-funded" trip somewhere and they get lost/ something.. I'm so sick of reading the news everyday of our politicians masturbating to their own minute/even-can-be-considered-achievements-in-the-first-place achievements.. and yet some simple narrow-minded folks can actually believe them and help them masturbate. I feel pity for these people... as they are so far down at the bottom of the well, they have no idea what achievements are.

Figure of RM27.5m for shoes inaccurate - Defence Minister

Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Defence Minister has come out to clarify the purchase of leather shoes for the female personnel in the ministry which amounted to RM27.5million as reported in the government’s MyProcurement portal saying that the figure was a mistake and that there has not been such an amount spent to purchase the footwear.

This is not the first mistake found on the portal which was revealed by Tony Pua, the Member of Parliament of Petaling Jaya Utara who had said “We know the prime minister's wife aims to make Malaysia the Shoe Capital of the East but surely, a RM27.5 million purchase of ladies’ footwear for civilian staff is not the way to achieve the goal? We would like to call upon the minister of defence to explain this incredible shopping spree for ladies shoes for his ministry.” In his defence, Zahid said “It is not for the public, it is not correct. We bought it as part of the army uniform for the women but the amount is not that much. It was a mistake in the MyProcurement portal,”

PKR chose Zaid because he had money, not because he wants to serve - Muhyiddin

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the deputy prime minister has taken a fresh swipe at Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) candidate who will be contesting in the upcoming by-election of Hulu Selangor where he has called on the people of the constituency to judge for themselves what sort of person Zaid is. Muhyiddin said “He had left Umno and now he wants to fight for the people in Hulu Selangor.

They can go to Kota Baru and see for themselves what he had done when he was a minister and Umno division chairman there,” The deputy chairman of BN (Barisan Nasional) also said that Zaid was chosen because he has the money and not because he wants to serve the people there. “I was notified he was chosen because he has a lot of money. Not because he can serve. However, the decision is theirs. I am confident the voters, they want development,”

I am wondering what you said had to do with your group of Minister. DO you think your ministers serve the people. What is Paerkasa talk shit fellow doing in KL most of the time. Did he down in Pasir Mas to serve the people here???? He is here to look for opportunities for himself.
For your info none of the BN elected representatives serving the people. I have stat of these if you want.
BN politicians are million dollars award holders. So dun blame others.

Kit Siang hits back at Muhyiddin for slamming Zaid

DAP stalwart, Lim Kit Siang has hit out at Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the deputy prime minister for his remarks on Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) candidate who will be contesting in this month’s Hulu Selangor by-election. Muhyiddin had claimed that Zaid was chosen by the PKR because he had ‘deep pockets’ referring that he had the money and that he was not there to serve. “I was notified he was chosen because he has a lot of money. Not because he can serve,” Lim said

“BN, Umno is the personification of money politics, which have proven that (money) is no more than a sure win factor to try and win. But I hope we will not see that happen. Muhyiddin’s remarks came as no surprise, and that it was a classic case of “foot-in-the-mouth” disease. This is a frequent reoccurrence. The DPM did this with ‘I’m a Malay first’, then ‘small-fry’ incident, now this. This is unwarranted. The DPM should appraise his own conduct as the Deputy Prime Minister, and not resort to being a lowly-Umno thug,”

Mukhriz says Hulu Selangor is about Zaid vs Dr M

Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir urged Hulu Selangor voters today to vote Barisan Nasional (BN) if they supported his father Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The deputy minister was responding to PKR candidate Datuk Zaid Ibrahim's comments to The Malaysian Insider that a vote for the MIC candidate would be “like giving Mahathir another chance”.

The former law minister said the 64,500 voters should choose someone who understands their problems and also articulate their voice in Parliament.

“Enough is enough. How many times was that? It’s been 18 years. It’s like giving Mahathir another chance, for instance. You’ve had 22 years, that’s enough,” the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) ideologue told The Malaysian Insider in an interview yesterday.

Mukhriz rose to his father's defence today.

He said that Hulu Selangor voters should make Zaid eat his own words by voting for BN and his father's policies.

Mukhriz said that his father still had significant support in Hulu Selangor because of his contribution to the constituency.

“I have been to Hulu Selangor and the reception I received was very good and I feel that good reception was because of the sense of gratitude that was shown by the people of Selangor to what my father has contributed all this while,” he told reporters in Parliament.

He said that Hulu Selangor voters should show their gratitude to the former PM by voting for MIC’s candidate in the by-election.

“So if they feel grateful to Tun then I agree with Zaid that they show their gratitude by voting Barisan Nasional’s candidate. So let me show Zaid Ibrahim that his statement will hit him back on his face,” he added.

The Hulu Selangor by-election was called following the death of PKR MP Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad late last month.

In Election 2008, Zainal, the former Selangor deputy mentri besar, defeated MIC deputy president Datuk G.Palanivel by a slim majority of 198 votes.

Zainal who joined PKR in 2005 obtained 23,177 votes while Palanivel received 22,979 votes.

There are 64,500 voters in Hulu Selangor, with the Malays making up 52.7 per cent of the total while the Chinese constitute 26.3 per cent, Indians approximately 19 per cent and other races at 1.7 per cent.

Yesterday evening, PKR and PR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced Zaid as the PKR candidate.

Reason why PR got the states is because people are fed-up with BN

Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, the Member of Parliament of Gua Musang who is also a veteran member of Umno said that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has not captured the middle ground of the voters or even the hearts and votes of the people but it was because the people have grown to dislike the BN (Barisan Nasional) and hence voted for any other parties available. He was speaking to the Sunday Express, a Sabah newspaper where he said "If people don't like your face, they just don't like your face," He added that “It was extremely difficult for the BN to be liked by the people again, no matter what they do, because of its longevity in public office and a combination of various acts of commission and omission done overtly and covertly. Ominously, the dislike of BN, included young Malays, the most developed states in Malaysia, the least developed, and across all communities. They realised when the Malays were being used as an excuse or tool by the ruling elite, resulting in the benefits not flowing to them or flowing to a small group. That doesn't mean that they want PR in Selangor. It just means that they would vote for anyone standing against the BN."

Denying that he is leaving Umno, he added that “The oil issue as an example of how the country was being managed unwisely and run unfairly, and among the reasons why BN was unpopular with the people. The issue arose when Terengganu wanted an upwards revision in the five percent oil royalty. The federal government quickly abolished Terengganu's oil royalty, claiming that it was not entitled to such payments, and replaced it with wang ehsan (goodwill payments). Wang ehsan is just a deliberate attempt by the Federal Government to prevent the oil states from asking for an upwards review of the oil royalty. Such a thing should never happen because that is not what is in the law. I can speak with authority on this subject because I drafted the oil law myself. I am just explaining when people ask me. The issue is bigger than oil because our reserves may not last very long since Petronas has denied reports of the 'find of the century.”

People are beginning to feel the discrimination in this country with the current government running this country and it has made history how the opposition won 5 states.

More to come in the next GE, we will see a different light.

.If people don't like BN it means something wrong with their administration of sheer corruption and nothing else. This BN goons will never learned and never deny of their bloody weakness. They think whatever they do is right .All bumkum and Bullshit ! !

As long as UMNO is ruling, BN will never change. UMNO has become greedy, avaracious, lie, lie, lie and further Mahathir has become the Government's adviser. When Mahathir said that Badawi was a weak leader, giving the thumps up to Najis, what he meant is, the government must continue with Mahathirism, which is rob the coffers, destroy the judiciary, silence the critics using government machinery, cover-up all major scandals, cook up conspiracy against opposition members. Everyone heard loud and clear who destroyed the judiciary in the CORRECT, CORRECT, CORRECT ROYAL COMMISSION. Not one person has been taken to task including C,C,C. I pity Najis. He think by following Mahathir, he will prevail.

When the rakyat does not like your face, you are gone on polling day. The rakyat respects the statement made by Tengku Razaleigh who is a straight talking UMNO veteran. The rakyat welcomes all his constructive criticism of his fellowmen in UMNO. Tengku Razaleigh is the only UMNO veteran that no disciplinary actions are taken against him by the UMNO Disciplinary Board of UMNO. Great men tell no lies.

Soi Lek frustrated, says Guan Eng

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has dismissed Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek’s attempts in inviting three Chinese guilds to attend an MCA presidential council meeting as signs of “frustration.”

In a telephone interview with The Malaysian Insider, Lim (left), who is Penang Chief Minister claimed that the newly-elected MCA president’s move in courting Chinese groups to take part in MCA’s highest party proceedings was a method to increase his personal influence and presence.

“I can understand his frustration, you cannot blame his efforts to increase his strength. He is naturally frustrated, embarrassed since the Chinese organisations have backtracked from attending (the presidential council meeting),” said Lim.

Lim’s remarks come as a response to Dr Chua’s criticisms against Lim for speaking out at the inclusion of the Chinese guilds in MCA’s apex council.

Earlier today, Bernama had reported Dr Chua as “taking a swipe” at Lim for “purposely politicising” issues related to the Chinese community.

Instead, the MCA head had stated that the party would not politicise issues that need to be confronted by MCA and the Chinese community.

“We are not in the politics of politicising issues, we are in the politics of solving issues,” he had told reporters after chairing the party’s presidential council meeting at Wisma MCA.

Bernama had also reported that leaders of the three guilds, Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) president Tan Sri William Cheng, Hua Zhong president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah and Malaysian Seven Major Clans Association chairman Datuk Koong Heng Sze had attended part of the meeting.

However, Lim claimed that the guilds had only attended a discussion after the presidential council meeting had adjourned, and were not party to the council’s proceedings.

“He (Dr Chua) is the one that started all this... this has resulted in the Chinese organisations initially accepting, then rejecting (the invitation).”

“Any self-respecting organisation would not want to become an appendage, a vassal to MCA. They had realised this after I had pointed it out to them, had they attended they would end up a vassal... that is why they did not attend (the presidential council meeting),” added Lim.

Lim has been a vocal critic of Chinese organisations attending top party meetings, saying it could jeopardise the organisations’ independence in fighting for their respective causes.

Pornthip lied in the inquest, she is lying now!!! Nazri

Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department has called Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand a ‘liar’ after the Thai pathologist withdrew from the inquest on the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock stating that she has decided to stopped testifying due to ‘political pressure’ from the Malaysian government.

He told local news media Mkini "She is a liar! She lied in the inquest and she is lying now," Mohd Nazri added that "As you very well know, today with the Internet and everything, it would be suicidal for the Malaysian government to stop her from testifying. Her problems with investigations in southern Thailand have nothing to do with the Malaysian government. It has nothing to do with her fear of not getting our cooperation in investigating her forensic cases in southern Thailand. I think it is a personal problem, it is a problem in Thailand. If she is unable to perform her investigation there, it is problem with the Thai government, not us,"

SO WERE YOU NAZRI BORN TO BE A LIAR CHEATING CORRUPTED N GUILTY BUT NOT GUILTY EVEN IF PROVEN. WHAT A DAMN MINISTER YOU ARE. IF WE SEE U ON ROAD THE PACKET OF SHIT WILL BE THROWN AT THE FACE FOR GOOD.

why is this big botak b**i so defensive? nobody pointed the finger at him. If he is innocent, he would not need to kick up such a big fuss.
Anyway Pornthip should not come cos likely C4s are waiting. maybe she should get the red shirts to accompany her

This is pot calling kettle black. Why does a doctor need to lie? Funny how some people can come up with this excuse.

Kit Siang calls for ministerial statement of Pornthip’s withdrawal, Gobind slams Nazri

Lim Kit Siang, the DAP adviser has called on Datuk Seri Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department to issue a ministerial statement over the ‘scandalous and outrageous development’ of the inquest on the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock, where renowned Thai pathologies Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand had reportedly withdrew, citing ‘political pressure’ as the reason . Kit Siang said "The overwhelming majority of Malaysians do not believe that Teoh Beng Hock committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of the MACC headquarters in Shah Alam on July 16 last year. Nazri's ministerial statement should also be fully debated in Parliament.”

Gobind Singh Deo, another MP of the party who is also the lawyer representing Teoh’s family in the inquest said “Nazri should investigate the allegations made by Porntip before jumping to conclusions on the matter. To assert that Pornthip had lied at the inquest, furthermore, is not only contempuous but also "reflects his ignorance and arrogance." It is she who said there appeared to be marks of pressure applied to Teoh Beng Hock's neck. A second post-mortem proved her right. It further went to show that the theory advanced by the MACC that Teoh was not harmed whilst on the 14th floor of Plaza Masalam may well be open to question. Nazri shouldn't interfere with the court process. He is in no position to determine what weight ought to be given to Dr Pornthip's testimony. That would be a matter for the coroner to decide based on the evidence before him. I challenge Nazri to offer himself as a witness at the inquest to prove his allegation that Dr Porntip had lied in court,"

He added that "Instead of assisting the Teoh family and trying to solve the problem, Nazri Aziz has spoken volumes for the government to the contrary. Is there a real desire on part of the government to see justice done for Teoh Beng Hock? Or do they hope to discredit those who have helped establish a case against suicide on his behalf as seems to be the case here?"

NAZRI ABDUL AZIZ IS THE MINISTER OF ALL MOTHERS OF LIAR

Nazri does not know how to cover MACC, murder took place in the building, Pronthip is concern of her safety, what more is there that does not relate to a murder? MACC has ran out of ideas to convince.

The latest development in Teoh Beng Hock's case, must not be taken lightly. As an interim measure, Hulu Selangor voters must vent their anger and disgust through the ballot box. Please ensure that the bulk of the vote goes to PR in the by-election. We must stop the rot. This is best antidote under the present circumstances!

it has been said again and again that the Malaysian Government is in a denial syndrome where the Minister in the Prime Minister Department Datul Seri Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz gave an outrageous statement that The Thai Pathologist lied in the inquest on the death of Teoh Beng Hock in MACC building. It shows that he has insulted the Thai government without facts because she is working under the Thai Government. Nazri should issue out a statement confirming that the expert phatologist is lying so that further actions could go forward by the Thai Government due to irresponsible behaviour of her statement on TBH. Let her come to Malaysia on 20/4/10 to respond to Nazri statement in court. Guarantee for her safety if your permission is granted.

BN must have threatened her

Palanivel denied saying he did not need Chinese votes to win in 2004 GE

It was reported that some quarters in the Chinese community in Hulu Selangor would not vote for Datuk G Palanivel in the by-election if he is to contest after his claims in the 2004 General Election where he won with a 14,483 majority. The landslide victory then prompted Palanivel to say that he did not need the Chinese votes to win the election. This will hamper his chance of contesting in the by-election with the announcement by the BN (Barisan Nasional) expected on Thursday.

Palanivel lost the seat to the PKR in the next election in 2008 with 198 votes. This claim however was denied by Palanivel who said “No sensible person will utter those words especially during an election time. 2004 was tough election because I was challenged by Ustaz Ismail Kamus, a PAS stalwart. The Chinese community supported very well, so much so that I even won the peti undi box of Batang Kali Chinese New Village.

The first win for Parliament since 1959. That year Chinese voters strongly supported me. If that allegation was true they would not have supported me. Every time an election comes these are the allegations that will be hurled. After winning or before winning I am not the type to tell I don’t want votes from any community. They will always be someone to start these rumours. I cannot be the source of these rumours. In fact, after winning the vote box of Batang Kali New Village in 2004, I held a function to thank the Chinese votes for the historic win,”

According to the sentiments of some Chinese voters there, “When Palanivel retained the seat by 14,000 votes in 2004, he boasted that he didn’t have to depend on Chinese voters to win,” while another one said “I do not know when but he did mention something like that. Another reason the Chinese community was apparently unhappy with Palanivel was over a promise he did not keep. Palanivel had promised in 2007 to allocate funds to Sze Yah Kong Temple but did not keep to his word, and when he was asked about this in 2008 before the general elections, he allegedly said that he would give the temple the money if they voted for him.”

A member of his own party, MIC too said “Palanivel, speaking at Ampang Pecah in 2004 after successfully defending his seat, had told residents there he only needed Felda votes to win. The local community had called him there to survey damage done to their homes by repeated flooding.”

Ahmad Maslan: Opposition mere occupant of BN development

The development in states administered by the PKR-DAP-PAS coalition is a legacy of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Ahmad Maslan said on Saturday.

“The Pakatan is merely an occupant of the BN development, whether it is in Kedah, Kelantan, Penang or Selangor, and more so in (the parliamentary constituency of) Hulu Selangor.

“They had two years but they have done nothing. All the development was provided by the BN. We have 50 primary schools and 16 secondary schools (in Hulu Selangor), for example,” he told reporters after opening a motivational programme for parents and presentation of excellence awards at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kerling, near here.

As such, Ahmad, who is Umno Information Chief, called on voters in Hulu Selangor to reject “these occupants” to enable the BN federal government to continue providing development there.

He also refuted a claim that the 1 Malaysia concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was copied from the One Israel concept.

“As the prime minister had said, (the) 1 Malaysia (concept) was not copied from any other. I want to state that there are several of these One concepts, among them One China Policy, One America, One World Organisation, Russia One. We did not duplicate because the components are not the same,” he said.

Ahmad said 1 Malaysia emphasised the theme of “People First, Performance Now” and also unity in a multiracial population as well as the eight principles (a culture of excellence, perseverance, humility, acceptance, loyalty, meritocracy, education, and integrity).

He said that privatisation, for example, was implemented by many countries and it could not be said that Malaysia had also copied it.

Ahmad said the opposition political parties equated 1 Malaysia with One Israel because they feared that the 1 Malaysia concept was gaining greater acceptance by the people.

“This is merely an allegation by the opposition because they cannot bear the popularity 1 Malaysia was gaining. So, they charge that 1 Malaysia is similar to One Israel,” he said.

Voters in Hulu Selangor will go to the polls on April 25 to elect a new Member of Parliament following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), on March 25. The BN will field a candidate from the MIC in the by-election, nomination for which is on April 17.

"We have 50 primary schools and 16 secondary schools..."
C'mon Ahmad Maslan, the monies do not come from BN's coffer, it is malaysian govt's money. You are only entrusted by people to do what you should do. Sama juga kalau PR yang memerintah, they have to do what they should do as they are being elected by people to discharge their responsibilities and trust. Janganlah boasting sangat dan do not think that you can fool rakyat malaysia.

Pornthip stays away from Teoh’s inquest due to ‘political pressure’

Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, the Thai pathologist who was recently appointed to conduct the second autopsy on the late political aide Teoh Beng Hock will not be testifying at the inquest on his death and she will no longer be involved in the case. The inquest is expected to resume on April 20 and Dr Pornthip has reportedly said that she wants out of the case due to ‘political pressure’ from the Malaysian government. She told local news media Mkini that some high ranking officials from the Thai Justice Ministry had ‘advised’ her not to go to Malaysia for the inquest next week and if she does she might face some problems when entering the country. She is the director-general of the Central Institute of Forensic Science which is part of the Ministry.

She said “It was conveyed to me by certain senior Thai government officials that there has been political pressure from certain Malaysian government circles to block my presence in court, so much so that it might interfere with my current important forensic mission in southern Thailand. She was recently denied entry to Kelantan to investigate a case on the killing in Southern Thailand. She said “I was unable to do so after a 'signal' from the authorities forbidding me from crossing the Thai-Malaysian border. I have been committed to the forensic pathological science for a long time, and have always taken full responsibility for the missions that were assigned to me. It had been my intention to follow the inquest into the death of the late Teoh Beng Hock to the end. Given that our well-intended assistance in the Teoh case has now turned into a political issue, I have no choice but to choose my work in south Thailand. If I was not a civil servant, I might decide to see this through to the very end. But in reality, I have an obligation to follow the Thai government's instruction. From my experience, sometimes there is a limit as to how far we can go to bring about justice,”
