Mongolia eyes first nuclear power plant by 2020: MonAtom...and then blow up C4 nuclear weapon at najib and rosmah in Putrajaya...ha ha ha...!!!

Mongolia plans to have its first nuclear power plant by 2020 and build nuclear fuel production capacity by tapping the country’s rich uranium resources, undeterred by the recent nuclear crisis in Japan, a senior official at the state-owned MonAtom LLC said today

Japan’s nuclear crisis is not seen to have a lasting impact on the global nuclear industry, said Tsogtsaikhan Gombo, deputy chairman of MonAtom, which represents the government in mining and developing the country’s uranium resources.

“We don’t think it’s a big problem for the industry as a whole. It’s a little bit of set-back in time frame, but as a whole it will go on,” said.

“We want green development and nuclear is the number one choice.”

Mongolia has proven uranium reserves of about 80,000 tonnes, ranking it among the top ten in the world, and putting it on the map of mining giants, which have been attracted by world-class deposits such as the massive Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold project.

“We have the ambition to build the capability of nuclear energy in Mongolia, and the ambition to supply nuclear power plants in Northeast Asia with nuclear fuel,” Gombo told reporters on the sidelines of a mining conference in Singapore.

Gombo said the country is seeking investment from around the globe to develop its nuclear energy sector, adding that uranium reserves in the country could rise to above one million tonnes.

“Currently there is not much, but we expect there will be huge investment in Mongolia’s nuclear energy sector, because the super powers are interested,” said Gombo, adding that the United States, Russia and China are competing with each other to get into the country’s nuclear sector.

But for the country sandwiched between Russia and China, choosing business partners is a delicate task, Gombo said.

“The government is quite selective, and is opting to cooperate with the most developed countries in the industry, like the United States, Japan and France,” he said.

“I wouldn’t say we don’t want them (China and Russia), but we want a balance of interest.”

Last October, Mongolia and France’s governments signed an agreement to let France’s Areva to explore and mine uranium in Mongolia, Areva said on its website (www.areva.com). – Reuters

Sex tape RCI to verify if prostitution took place, says godfather of the porn thugs

nazri ....godfather of the porn thugs

Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz wants a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to be set up to determine whether an act of prostitution took place in the recently-released sex video that allegedly features Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said the RCI was also needed to determine whether or not the man in the video was the de facto opposition leader. Anwar has denied he is the man in the grainy 21-minute black-and-white video clip, first shown on March 21 to selected journalists.

“Prostitution is illegal in Malaysia. If you participate, or you are aiding and abetting in prostitution, if you patronise prostitutes for sex, this is a crime.

“The RCI would be to determine the identity of the man in the video and of the woman he was having sex with, whether she was a prostitute,” Nazri told The Malaysian Insider today.

But section 372 (1) of the Penal Code states that it is only a crime if a person “sells, lets for hire... procures, buys or hires or otherwise obtains possession of” any person with the intention of employing, or using that same person for the purpose of prostitution.

The section states that it is also a crime to utilise “deceitful means” to assist in bringing a person in Malaysia for the purpose of prostitution.

Sections 372a and 372b state that it is a crime to live off the earnings of the prostitution of another person and it is also against the law to solicit for the purpose of prostitution.

The Penal Code does not say that it is illegal for an individual to engage in sex with a prostitute in Malaysia.

“There is a moral issue here. Anwar aspires to be prime minister of Malaysia… we cannot have a tainted prime minister, that is why we need to identify the person in the video… if it is Anwar, what would you think of him?” said Nazri.

Elaborating further, the minister said today an RCI on the sex video was necessary to satisfy public interest.

“If the public is satisfied with the findings, then there would be no need for the RCI. But if there is an element of doubt, then RCI is needed.

“RCI is needed for anything of public interest, to clear up any issue of public interest,” Nazri said.

But the de facto law minister cautioned that the RCI would only be needed if the public was not satisfied with the findings of the ongoing police investigations.

“We have to first wait for the police to complete investigations, to identify the man in the video,” he said.

He said the Cabinet had decided to allow the police to complete the investigations first before pushing for an RCI.
Two weeks ago, a mysterious “Datuk T” had screened a video purportedly showing Anwar having sex with an unidentified woman.

Former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim then claimed responsibility for the video, saying they screened the video to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”

A 107-second snippet surfaced on the Internet on Sunday, just two days after police said the video was not doctored.

It made public part of the video that was only screened to select individuals and reporters prior to this but the clip has since been taken down from YouTube for violating the video site’s policy on nudity and sexual content.

PKR has claimed that the clip proved the man in the video was not their de facto leader and repeated their demand that the trio be arrested for pornography.

When asked whether the “Datuk T” trio should be the ones charged for committing a crime, Nazri quickly responded by saying that that was a “separate issue.”

“If the three people committed the offence, that will be up to the police to decide on after they wrap up their investigations,” said the veteran Umno MP.

DAP lawmaker and veteran lawyer Karpal Singh said recently that the “Datuk T” trio could be charged under section 292 of the Penal Code and section 5 of the Film Censorship Act for allegedly distributing obscene material as well as criminal defamation and criminal intimidation.

That is a 1st in the world! Having a RCI to determine if prostitution has taken place. If they ever find the lady in the video, I hope she sues them for defamation for calling her a prostitute where there's no proof!

It seems that to BN/UMNO, whether the prostitution take place or not is more important than the following:

1. whether the law had been broken by Datuk T
2. whether Najib involved in Altantunya case
3. whether there is a kick back in Military purchase and why did we pay a significant huge amount (which is few time higher) than other countries to get the same weapon
4. whether the current Sarawak chief (Taib) really involved in the allege corruption and amass a huge wealth for him and his family

else, why no RCI propsed for the above?

I am going to send all malaysian sex video to Nazri to allow him to determine whether each sexual act was done with a prostitute...i think the government can establish a Royal Commission Inquiry of Sexual Act in Malaysia, chaired by Nazri himself :)....ha ha ha ha ha.....

bowl level Expert: Some video cameras can cause image distortion

The image of people captured on CCTV or spycam may appear 15% to 20% larger if they are closer to the camera, said an audiovisual specialist.

Salleh Abdullah, who has technical experience in the film industry, said such distortion occurred because small cameras like CCTV or spycam were not equipped with that many components as a video camera to minimise the distortion.

“The degree of distortion depended on the lens type. If a wide-angle lens is used, the figure will appear large at close range,” he said, adding that telephoto lens would make the image captured look more normal.

He said the higher range CCTV or spycam might be equipped with zoom control devices which could reduce the distortion.

Salleh was commenting on the current debate on a sex video implicating Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the video was most probably recorded using a spycam as the image was captured from a low angle.

Universiti Sains Malaysia computer science lecturer Dr Aman Jantan said identity could also be ascertained using facial recognition system tools.

He noted that police in Tampa Bay, Florida, used the Identix facial recognition software to search for potential criminals and terrorists attending a Super Bowl match in January 2001.

Hahaha! It was just a matter of time when these so-called experts would appear.

Experts? Hahahahaha!

Ask that A*****e DPP in Teoh Beng Hock's case, he will show you how Teoh strangled himself. Ask him now, if that is Anwar in the video, he'll tell you he recognized Anwar's tetek and batang.

My advice to Anwar is to go get his penis tatooed or at least a tatoo on his bum.

If we don't see the tats, then its not Anwar.

Fcuk! The whole affair is so freaking ridiculous! Its a planned diversion from real issues!

DAP picks Baru Bian for CM if Sarawak captured

Sarawak DAP announced today that it will endorse state PKR chief Baru Bian for the post of chief minister should Pakatan Rakyat (PR) win the April 16 state election — even if the pact’s lynchpin fails to get the lion’s share of seats.

“We in the DAP have already stated our stand clear a while back, when the Sarawak PR council was first established, that Baru will be our next CM,” state DAP secretary Chong Chieng Jen said firmly during a press conference after PR launched its manifesto for Sarawak this afternoon.

This was because DAP leaders held Baru, a well-known church elder here, in high respect. Baru, who is a lawyer, is contesting the Ba’Kelalan state constituency.

“We have confidence in his leadership.

“It does not necessarily mean that PKR must win the majority number of seats for us to endorse a PKR representative for the post. Even if DAP secures the top number of seats, we will choose him,” he said.

When asked if the PKR central leadership was aware that Baru had already been selected to lead the state, party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that it was by convention that the party with the most number of seats would appoint a chief minister from among its representatives.

“In any state, the party with the most number of seats will lead the state government.

“Baru was chosen because he is the state PKR leader.

“But, we will still need to sit down and discuss.

“But for now, of course since Baru is the state leader, DAP has selected his name,” he said.

PKR is contesting a total of 49 seats in the current state polls. The DAP is contesting in 15 and PAS in five.

PKR will clash head-on with SNAP in 26 seats.

Chong said that only if Baru failed to wrest the Ba’Kelalan seat from Barisan Nasional would the DAP consider an alternative candidate for the highly-coveted post.

“We are not short of candidates,” he pointed out.

When met at the PKR city headquarters here, PAS central working committee member Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin claimed that the Islamist party was aware that Baru had already been selected as PR’s choice for the next Sarawak chief minister.

“In any case, it will not be a problem for us. This is not the main question that we are concerned about at the moment.

“We have with us three years of experience in our rule in Penang, Selangor, Kedah and Kelantan.

“And look at what happened in Perak when we won in Election 2008, someone had to rise from among us to be appointed the mentri besar,” he said.

Nizar was PR’s former Perak mentri besar until the state fell back to Barisan Nasional during the infamous 2009 power grab.

Just yesterday, PR leaders had admitted that the pact was yet to formulate a succession plan for Sarawak, should it come into power this April 16.

Its top leaders had said that they were yet to determine who among its leaders should sit in the state Cabinet and, most significantly, who would replace Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud as the Sarawak chief minister.

Taib, the country’s longest serving chief minister, has administered resource-rich Sarawak for a record 30 years and has been described as Malaysia’s most powerful state leader with a business empire that spans across at least eight nations.

In the state’s 2006 polls, BN won in 63 seats while DAP secured six and PKR and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) won one seat each.

“We never discussed this in 2008. But we sorted it out overnight. There will not be a scramble,” DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng had said when asked if the pact had decided on a candidate to replace Taib.

The PR electoral pact had denied BN its customary two-thirds of Dewan Rakyat and five state governments in Election 2008, and Lim’s DAP is now the largest opposition party in Parliament following several defections from PKR’s fold. Despite having lesser seat than DAP, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim remains the parliamentary opposition leader.

Due to the electoral losses, then prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was forced to announce a two-year transition plan in mid-2008 but even this was cut short when he handed over power to Datuk Seri Najib Razak in April 2009.

While PR is CLEAR in choosing the next CM, I can't even see the Taib government having who in mind to take over after!! And the current Taib government have been ruling for 30 years without even thinking a succession plan.

Sarawakians this the best opputunity for a real anak sarawak to be CM.Chose PAKATAN and it will be the riches state in MALAYSIA.Vote Pakatan and your troubles are over. The oil royalty of 20%and not chicken feed of 5% given now. This belongs to the people of Sarawak not UMNO and barisan national.

Wan Azizah wants Ng to withdraw

'Our advice to him is that he should actually withdraw. Let this be a fight between the BN and Pakatan.'

(Bernama) - PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today advised the independent candidate for Padungan, Dominque Ng, to withdraw from contesting in the April 16 state election.

She said this was because Ng had agreed to support and campaign for the opposition.

“Our advice to him is that he should actually withdraw. Let this be a fight between the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Rakyat,” she told reporters at the PKR Kuching headquarters, here today.

On Tuesday, Ng left the PKR to contest as an independent in Padungan after he was not picked by the leadership to defend the seat following a seat swap with the DAP.

He is locked in a three-cornered fight with BN’s Sim Kiang Chiok and DAP’s Wong King Wei.

The opposition was concerned that a three-cornered fight in Padungan would cause a split in the votes and give BN the advantage.

On whether Ng would be accepted back into PKR if he were to win, Azizah said: “We are a party, you cannot come and go as you like. There is a set of rules that you have to go by.”

Meanwhile, PKR state information chief and candidate for Batu Lintang, See Chee How, said the presence of more than 40 independent candidates in the 10th state election was not a matter of concern for the opposition.

Dominique should put some serious thought on this - there's no point winning your battle if Pakatan should lose out on the war.

At this critical phase, the long-term objectives mean making sacrifices. He knows the sentiments of the voters on the ground but his participation in the fray is ill-timed.

subsequent another killing by the MACC...'He was a sincere, honest man' said relative

(New Straits Times) - The late Selangor Customs Department assistant director Ahmad Sarbaini Mohamed, 56, was yesterday described by a relative as "a very honest man".

The relative, a retired police officer in his 60s, also said Ahmad Sarbaini was not a rich man.

"He lived a modest life. Family members believe he had done no wrong and had nothing to hide. We are, therefore, puzzled why the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) was investigating Ahmad Sarbaini.

"He was not the type who would accept a bribe. He even turned down gifts, which he deemed inappropriate. You can ask anyone who knows him. I can vouch for this."

The relative said Ahmad Sarbaini had said he was not worried about the MACC probe because he could account for his financial status.

He said Ahmad Sarbaini had been a sincere and hardworking man all his life.

"He had been working diligently after completing his Lower Certificate of Education (now known as Penilaian Menengah Rendah).

"He worked as an office boy before becoming a Kuala Lumpur Hospital assistant serving haemodialysis patients.

"He then took a diploma course and joined the Customs Department soon after. Based on his hospital experience, he had planned to open a haemodialysis centre with a friend when he retired," he said at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre mortuary yesterday.

The relative added that Ahmad Sarbaini had owned three houses, one of which had been sold. All the houses were bought on government loans.

"Ahmad Sarbaini was not even considered rich. He owned three cars -- a Perodua Kancil, a second-hand Honda CRV and a Proton Persona, which was bought three months ago.

"The Persona was bought by his wife, Maziah Manaf, as he could not take a loan because he had stood as a guarantor for another loan."

Ahmad Sarbaini was buried at the Kota Damansara Section 9 Muslim Cemetery.

Customs director-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Khalid Yusuf, Selangor Customs director Datuk Aziz Yacub, federal police counter-terrorism director Datuk Mohamad Fuzi Harun and about 100 colleagues, friends and family members were at the funeral which took place about 6pm.

UKMMC Forensic Department head Associate Professor Dr Shahrom Abd Wahid had earlier conducted the post-mortem. The death certificate listed cause of death as "pending lab analysis".

another BN project to disgrace PR...State PKR leader charged with graft for giving ‘Datuk’ title

A state PKR leader and a woman were separately charged at the Sessions Court here today with receiving a RM50,000 bribe to help secure a Kelantan state award carrying the title “Datuk” for a man.

Kelantan PKR Rantau Panjang division leader Datuk Mohammad Agos Mohd Noor was charged under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009 and Nor Azimah Jamaludin was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the same act.

Both pleaded not guilty.

If convicted, they each face imprisonment of not more than 20 years and a fine not less than five times the amount of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) charged the duo with receiving the RM50,000 bribe from a man to get him the Dato’ D’Raja award from Persatuan Kerabat D’Raja DYMM Long Yunus in Kelantan.

Mohammad Agos, 51, was accused of abetting Nor Azimah, 31, in receiving RM50,000 from Izuldin Hani Mohd Noor last December to secure for the latter the state award.

The PKR man also faced an alternative charge of abetting Nor Azimah in deceiving Izuldin into believing that he could get the Dato’ D’Raja award, which contravened the Kelantan state constitution.

Mohammad Agos, dressed in a black blazer and trousers, was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code in his alternative charge.

If convicted, he faces imprisonment of between one and 10 years, whipping, and a possible fine.

Nor Azimah, who is self-employed, also faces the same punishment in her alternative charge of deceiving Izuldin.

MACC prosecution head Datuk Abdul Razak Musa requested for bail to be set at RM30,000 bail for both the accused.

When pleading for a lower bail, Nor Azimah said: “I worked according to Agos’s instructions. He gave orders to me.”

The woman, who was wearing a floral-patterned blouse over a long purple skirt, said she was a single mother and could not afford the RM30,000 bail.

Abdul Razak, however, insisted on the bail amount, saying Mohammad Agos faced a serious charge.

“It involves an offence against the Kelantan constitution,” said the MACC prosecution head.

Judges Rosbiahanin Arifin and Rozilah Salleh later set bail at RM30,000 for each of the pair.

It was reported today that Persatuan Kerabat D’Raja DYMM Long Yunus conferred the “Datukship” on 28 people at Kota Baru in Kelantan last December.

The Kelantan Sultan was reportedly unhappy with the association for conferring the awards.

The cases are set for mention on May 9.

Sarbani injuries consistent with fall, says PDRM (PECACAI DUBUR ROSMAH MANSUR /pimps anal OF Rosmah Mansur )

Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed suffered injuries that were consistent with a fall from height, city police said today, eerily reminiscent of Teoh Beng Hock’s death nearly two years ago.

But Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah refused to say if the senior customs officer who was found dead at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office in Cheras on Wednesday, suffered any other injuries.

“His injuries were consistent with a fall from height. But we will only know the cause of death after the lab tests,” he told reporters this morning.

When asked if there were no other injuries, he said, “I didn’t say that and I didn’t say the injuries were the cause of death.”

Zulkifli had said on Wednesday that there were injuries to Ahmad Sarbani’s head.

The 56-year-old Selangor Customs assistant director was found dead on the first floor of the MACC office in Jalan Cochrane on Wednesday morning after falling from the third floor.

The incident has damaged MACC’s credibility as it continues to maintain its innocence in the death of former DAP aide Teoh.

A Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) is still ongoing into Teoh’s death, who plunged from the 14th floor of the then Selangor MACC office on July 16, 2009.

Zulkifli added today that six MACC officers have been called in to record their statements since the incident but refused to confirm if this included the two who were suspended by the anti-graft body yesterday for failing to accompany Ahmad Sarbani while he was in the MACC premises.

Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah, said several doctors and experts were present during the only post-mortem conducted. — Pic by Shannon Teoh
Two MACC officers were suspended yesterday for failing to accompany witnesses or customers at all times while they are in MACC premises.

MACC investigations director Datuk Mustafar Ali said on Wednesday that Ahmad Sarbani had returned to the MACC building at 8.26am that morning without an appointment and requested to meet with the investigating officer.

Ahmad Sarbani had already given his statement to the MACC related to a sting on a Customs syndicate said to be responsible for RM3 billion in unpaid taxes and was released from custody at on Saturday.

Mustafar said an officer then accompanied the senior Customs officer to a room in the office before leaving to collect the case file but found him missing when he returned.

Ahmad Sarbani’s body was later found sprawled on the badminton court on the first floor.

Zulkifli also rectified reports that two post-mortems were conducted on Ahmad Sarbani’s body, stating that only one had been conducted in the presence of several doctors and experts.

HUKM head of forensic unit, Associate Professor Dr Shahrom Abdul Wahid, was reported to have been called in to conduct a review of the autopsy but only flew in to Sepang at 10am yesterday.

Ahmad Sarbani’s body was held in Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM) for over 24 hours before being released to his family at around 5pm yesterday.

Zulkifli also explained that the incident has been classified as sudden death to allow the police “to investigate all aspects in detail.”

“If our investigations move in a certain direction, we can reclassify later,” he said.

He also did not say when the lab report would be finalised but confirmed that closed-circuit television recordings from the MACC office had been seized.

Ahmad Sarbani had been remanded on March 29 following an MACC-led swoop on Customs staff, resulting in the arrest of 62 officers.

The MACC raided over 100 premises including 25 Customs offices in a nationwide dragnet for alleged tax evasion, money laundering and illegal funds outflows worth billions of ringgit.

omments

Just close the MACC and put all of them under remand. They are not efficient and transparent enough. They have a long way to go and maybe need some classes from Singapore or other developed nations. I wish we know the academic qualifications of these MACC people and if half boils, why are they employed as staff???

One after another fell down dead from MACC buildings and so many cases of death in PRDM detention, Malaysians can justify to draw conclusion that these 2 government enforcement units are evil organizations.

zulkifli is not lying when stating injuries were consistent with fall, he is only stating the obvious signs but this is only half truth, the whole truth might tell a different story, hope the post morten was done in a professional manner i.e. detail observations and examinations - physical signs of body, any needle prick bruises and unrelated skin bruises, blood and stomach contents for toxicology, tissue samples from various organs for analysis, full x-ray for the whole skeleton system, check for any unrelated DNA on his body, these are some of the basic examinations required to establish the whole truth of how he really died. the rakyat expects nothing less!

Kajang councillor unsure why MACC not sued for torture

A Kajang municipal councillor admitted today he can’t explain why he did not sue the country’s graft busters for allegedly torturing him despite doing so over an after-hours interrogation but said he has lodged a police report on the matter.

Tan Boon Wah told the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) investigating Teoh Beng Hock’s death that he had only sued the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for questioning him outside office hours on the night of July 15, 2009.

“I only can say I left it out only; I don’t know why,” said Tan at the inquiry today, when asked why he did not include his torture allegations in his suit.

“Torture, I made a police report,” he added.

Tan claimed that MACC officers had tortured him by forcing him to stand for four hours and threatening him when he was held overnight at the then Selangor MACC headquarters on July 15, 2009.

Teoh’s body was found on the fifth floor corridor of Plaza Masalam in Shah Alam hours later after he was also questioned overnight by MACC officers at their then Selangor office on the 14th floor.

The anti-graft officers were investigating a claim that Teoh’s boss, Ean Yong Hian Wah, was abusing state funds.

Ean Yong is a Selangor state executive councillor and Seri Kembangan assemblyman from the DAP.

Tan said today that he had engaged Karpal Singh as his lawyer in his suit against the national anti-graft authority in 2009.

“I’m putting it to you the only reason why you and your capable lawyers did not put (your torture allegations) in the affidavit is because it never happened. (The) threat never happened,” said MACC lawyer Datuk Seri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah.

“Your Honour, it happened. Four hours on 15 July 2009, 10pm to the 16th, 2am,” said Tan, who joined the DAP after Teoh’s death.

“All the torture I mentioned yesterday, it happened ... all I said in court it’s true,” he added, heatedly.

Tan told the RCI yesterday that MACC officers had forced him to stand for four hours, mimicked actions that gave the impression he would be hit, and called him “Cina bodoh” (stupid Chinese).

He said, however, that the anti-graft officers did not physically hurt him.

Shafee pointed out that Tan did not sue the police despite questioning taking place outside office hours.

“They didn’t torture me,” said Tan.

“That’s an important point ... you did not sue the police for outside office hours because they didn’t torture you,” replied Shafee.

Shafee said the police had recorded Tan’s statement from 9pm to 11pm on July 20, 2009.

Tan said he lodged a police report against the MACC on July 18, 2009 after he was detained for almost 17 hours at the Selangor MACC office.

The DAP man said he was questioned by the graft busters as a witness in their investigations against Ean Yong.

Tan added that the MACC officers had asked him if he had pocketed the payment for selling 1,500 Malaysian flags to Ean Yong without actually supplying them.

“They only asked me if I took (the) RM2,400 (payment),” said Tan, stressing that he had delivered the flags.

The Kajang municipal councillor won his suit against the MACC at the Kuala Lumpur High Court in 2009, but the Court of Appeal overturned the High Court decision.

The Federal Court also dismissed Tan’s appeal and ruled last year that the MACC could continue to interrogate witnesses after office hours.

Impossible for Sarbani to commit suicide, say friends

Ahmad Sarbani’s widow (in black) is surrounded by family and friends in the mortuary waiting room.

Deep in the basement carpark of Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), shocked relatives and friends grieved silently as the body of Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed lay in the mortuary awaiting an autopsy.

They had come to one conclusion upon hearing of his death plunge earlier — that it was impossible for the 56-year-old Customs assistant director to commit suicide over investigations into over a billion ringgit in unpaid taxes across five ports in the country.

In Customs Department uniforms or clad with headscarves, men and women lined the hallway leading to the mortuary, murmuring prayers and talking in hushed tones about the man who was found sprawled on the first floor after falling from the third floor of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building on Jalan Cochrane this morning.

Some were unable to control their grief, with tears seen trickling down their faces.

Sarbani’s family was protective of his wife and five children who were escorted to the mortuary waiting room with their faces covered to avoid photographers from capturing their images. His siblings refused to give any comments to reporters crowding the mortuary.

His childhood friend, Ridzuan Mohamad, told The Malaysian Insider of his disbelief when he received the news of Sarbani’s death today.

“I was close to him and he was very humble. I think the charge against him by MACC is nonsense. If it is true then show the proof. The way they interrogated him was not fair.

“He was just a scapegoat for someone else,” said the 46-year-old former reporter.

Ridzuan also said that it was illogical for him to commit suicide because he had always maintained his innocence.

“Last night he called and told me that he was being investigated by MACC. He told me that he was not scared as he has not done anything wrong.

“He also told me that he was going to send a document tomorrow (today). That was it, to send a document,” he added.

Another close friend, Ashaari Isa, added that Sarbani was very pious and that a man of God would not commit suicide.

“That is what MACC has to say but for those that knew him personally then it was impossible (that he committed suicide).

“His personality and conduct was that of a very religious person,” said the 57-year-old businessman.

He also dared MACC to explain why the senior Customs officer would commit suicide and requested for the closed-circuit-television footage (CCTV) to be made public.

Ashaari, who drove from Sarbani’s village in Perak, angrily denied that suicide was the cause of death.

“Men from our village don’t kill themselves but we kill others,” he said in an emotional outburst.

MACC investigations director Datuk Mustafar Ali earlier told reporters that Sarbani had returned to the MACC building at 8.26am today without an appointment and had requested to meet with the investigation officer.

Sarbani had already given his statement to MACC and was released from custody at 12.30pm on Saturday.

He had been remanded on March 29 following an MACC-led swoop on Customs staff, resulting in the arrests of 62 officers.

“The deceased had asked to meet with the investigation officer but did not say why,” Mustafar said.

The chief investigator said an officer then accompanied the Customs officer to a room in the office before leaving to collect the case file but found him missing when he returned.

Sarbani’s body was later found on the badminton court on the first floor.

Pandamaran assemblyman Ronnie Liu arrived later and was seen consoling the dead man’s relatives.

He told reporters that DAP has offered to represent the family but has yet to receive an answer.

Hospital authorities said the autopsy will be conducted at 9pm tonight. Police have yet to say when the body will be released for burial by the family.

its really so sad....look at the greaving family reminds you of scenes of TBH 's family...a man with 5 children and judging from the number of friends ,why would he commit suicide...i would say almost impossible

My deepest sympathy and condolence to Sarbani's family and colleagues. Before MACC attempts to irradicate corruption, it is better that the government clean up MACC. It looks like we need another special agency to police MACC.

More interesting news will be coming out after this. There is no way he committed suicide like that. Hope the police will get to the bottom of this. This country is getting from bad to worse.

Another BOo BOo by MACC.. time to disband this agency before more people are found on the ground floor of their office building.

Customs officer falls to death during MACC probe

A Customs officer died today after falling from the third floor of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building on Jalan Cochrane where he was being investigated with others for over a billion ringgit in unpaid taxes.

MACC investigations director Datuk Mustafar Ali said the Customs officer's body was found sprawled on the first floor at 10.15am.

The death comes even as a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) is being conducted into the anti-graft body’s operating procedures following the death of former DAP aide Teoh Beng Hock, who also fell to his death from an MACC building.

Teoh was found dead on July 16, 2009 on the fifth floor of Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam, where the Selangor MACC office had then been located.

During a hastily-convened press conference, Mustafar revealed that the deceased was Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed (picture), a 56-year-old assistant director from Customs Department in Selangor.

He explained that Ahmad had returned to the MACC building at 8.26am today unannounced and requested to meet with the investigation officer.

Ahmad had already given his statement to MACC and released from custody at 12.30PM on Saturday.

He had been remanded on March 29 following an MACC-led swoop on Customs staff, resulting in the arrests of 62 officers.

“The deceased had asked to meet with the investigation officer but did not say why,” Mustafar said.

The chief investigator said an officer then accompanied Ahmad to an office room before leaving to collect the case file but found him missing when he returned.

Ahmad’s body was later found sprawled on the badminton court at the first floor.

“[The] MACC has informed what happened to the deceased’s family and management from his department.

“We have also submitted the matter to the police for further action,” he said.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah confirmed that the case has been classified as sudden death and initial investigation has found injuries to the head.

The MACC last week busted a Customs syndicate responsible for billions of ringgit in tax evasion, money laundering and illegal funds outflows after raiding over 100 different premises nationwide.

Mustafar said the operation included the arrest of a husband-and-wife duo working for the Royal Malaysian Customs Department in an east coast state, who were caught with hundreds of thousands of ringgit in cash “scattered around their house.”

He added that the operation was ongoing and the full value of tax evasion was not yet known

Ayoyo macc? God want show to us about your selected probe
Looks like people going to MACC have a habit of "jumping" out the window.
Are they going to find another suicide note months later?

A customs officer being investigated over a billion ringgit in unpaid taxes? Unbelievable! Didn't know people working in customs are so well paid.

and / or .....this is MACC's standard operating procedures right? Put someone on the ledge of the window during investigation.

Releasing sex video is haram, say Muslim scholars

Muslim scholars have condemned the distribution of the alleged Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sex video as haram, against Malay culture and “illegal and unethical anywhere around the world.”

The Malaysian Ulama Association (PUM) also said that those calling for the 21-minute video to be screened in Parliament are “suffering from a cancer of rubbish politics that is rotten.”

“This trend of trying to degrade and spread slander is not the norm for Malay Muslim culture. Moreover, it is illegal and unethical anywhere around the world. Recording, possessing and distributing the video is clearly haram in Islam,” said its secretary general Mohd Roslan Md Nor in a statement today.

Calls for the mysterious “Datuk T” trio to be arrested have grown louder, especially from Anwar’s PKR, since the 21-minute video emerged two weeks ago.

A 107-second snippet surfaced on the Internet on Sunday, just two days after police said the video was not doctored.

It made public part of the video that was only screened to select individuals and reporters prior to this but the clip has since been taken down from YouTube for violating its policy on nudity and sexual content.

Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, one of the Datuk T men, said yesterday that he did not know where the snippet came from and that the only copy of the video was with the police.

However, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar denied today that the clip came from the police.

PKR has claimed that the clip proved the man in the video was not their de facto leader and repeated their demand that the trio be arrested for pornography.

Former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Shazryl and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim have claimed responsibility for the video, saying they screened the video to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”

Opposition Leader Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and accused Umno of a politically-motivated “scurrilous attack” on him.

The involvement of former Umno Youth chief Abdul Rahim has lent credence to the claim as Umno sought to distance itself from the video.

Mohd Raslan also lashed out at those calling for the video to be screened in Dewan Rakyat as it insulted the august house.

“Dewan Rakyat, which is supposed to be a forum for debating motions and national issues, is now being turned into a pornography theatre. Those using the immunity of MPs as an excuse to watch the sex video are suffering from a cancer of rubbish politics that is rotten,” he said.

The scholar accused these politicians of doing anything for power.

Lawmakers from both sides of the divide, including DAP chairman Karpal Singh and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, had supported the screening of the video in Parliament should Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia see it fit.

However, Pandikar rejected the idea today, stating that rules and regulations of the house had to be adhered to.

PUM also called for the home ministry to take necessary action against those who have spread the video as it has clearly run afoul of the law.

It also asked for the Council of Rulers to intervene in the matter.

“This trend of trying to degrade and spread slander is not the norm for Malay Muslim culture. "

Correct...it's just Umno's culture making a bad name to right thinking Muslims.

UMNO has proven through their corruption, racism, sex-fixation, denial of justice, fabrications and slander that they really couldn't care less about Islam. It's just a slogan for them. Just like 1Malaysia.

After watching video, Wan Azizah declares Anwar innocent

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said today that she and family members are convinced after watching a two-minute clip of a sex video that the man in the recording is not her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

A portion of the video purportedly showing Anwar having sex was uploaded on YouTube on Sunday.

Wan Azizah said today the clip was clear evidence that Anwar was innocent as the man featured did not resemble her husband.

“It is clear that the body and physique of the actor is different than the body and physique of Anwar,” she told reporters at her residence while surrounded by her family members.

“When he was in jail, what else could he do but exercise,” she said, referring to Anwar’s previous statement that “the stomach of the man was much bigger than” his.

However, Anwar was not present during the press conference. He is currently on the Sarawak election campaign trail.

Yesterday, a two-minute clip was uploaded on YouTube and shared on several pro-Umno blogs. The 1-minute-47-second clip shows two men and a woman before the alleged sex act. It was later taken off for violating YouTube’s policy on nudity or sexual content.

The uploaded video had a white strip at the bottom with Thai script written on it.

The strip was not on the version that first surfaced and originally shown to reporters two weeks ago at Carcosa Seri Negara here.

Last month, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik admitted that businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah, Perkasa’s Datuk Shuib Lazim and himself were collectively the mysterious “Datuk T” behind the sex video screening.

The former Malacca chief minister also admitted that both he and Shazryl were behind the video.

A former deputy prime minister from 1993 to 1998, Anwar filed a police report denying he was the man recorded.

The father of six, who is standing trial for sodomy with a former male aide, has accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein of being involved in the video recording, which Anwar said was an attack on him and Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Wan Azizah said the sex video was another example of what she called the gutter politics of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).

“We reject wholeheartedly this form of politics and call on Malaysians to be together with us in upholding justice and in rejection of such politics. Let us together bring back the agenda for holistic reforms in the political, economic and social systems in our beloved nation,” she said.

Anwar has been repeatedly accused of having affairs, culminating in two criminal charges of sodomy in the past 13 years, one of which he is still on trial for.

Wan Azizah also said it was irrational to conceive that Anwar could have committed all that he has been accused of committing.

“Our family has been tested with many challenges since 1998. So many false accusations and aspersions have been cast onto the person of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Each accusation was no doubt a heavy burden, yet Datuk Seri Anwar had no choice but to wade through and overcome each and every disgusting, disturbing and demeaning accusation.

“Yet if we were to recall all these accusations, it is truly mind-boggling to imagine that Datuk Seri Anwar was guilty of committing each and every one of them, in which some accusations contradicted others, she said.

She also stressed that the issue was not whether the video was doctored or not but that actor in the clip was Anwar.

In his recently-released memoirs, former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had alleged that his then-deputy had propositioned four girls for sex in the 1990s.

Anwar immediately denied the claims, calling the long-serving former PM a “blatant liar with selective amnesia.”

Most recently, current MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was forced to resign as health minister after admitting to being caught on a sex tape that surfaced at the end of 2007.

In 1989, former MIC secretary-general D.P. Vijandran was forced to resign as Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker after a sex video controversy.

Anwar is stronger day by day. Thank you for those who shot the film and certainly BN will lose a lot of votes this 13th GE. I cannot imagine how they stoop so low in bringing down innocent people. Let us be reminded how Lim Guan Eng went to prison to protect a innocent Malay girl. Where is Malaysia heading to with the present government? What transformation are we taking about? GOD bless Malaysia.

We the ordinary people will sympathise you and your family for being put into such disgusting and demeaning situation by the corrupted BN gorvenment. We will vote and kick out this corrupted and sinful gorvenment once and for all.

All Malaysians except for the UMNO rascals apologize for putting Anwar and his family through such an ordeal.

What more can UMNO say now that the video has been leaked and the truth is now clear for all to see!

We hope that UMNO members will still retain sufficient human decency to refrain from any more unscrupulous acts. UMNO has brought more shame upon Malaysia!

Let me decide on sex video arrests, say IGP of PECACAI DUBUR ROSMAH MANSUR ( PDRM ) / pimps anal of rosmah mansur....

Tan Sri Ismail Omar lashed out today at calls for the police to arrest the mysterious trio known as “Datuk T”, stating that it is up to him to decide on arrests in connection with the alleged sex video of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Why should I arrest anyone based on what you say? Let us carry out the investigation and then I will decide on the right time and who to arrest,” the Inspector General of Police said to reporters today when asked why the men who claimed responsibility for the video have not been booked.

Demands for Datuk T — former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim — to be arrested have grown louder, especially from Anwar’s PKR, since the 21-minute video emerged two weeks ago.

A 107-second snippet surfaced on the Internet on Sunday, just two days after police said the video was not doctored, but has since been taken down from YouTube for violating its policy on nudity and sexual content.

PKR immediately claimed that the clip proved the man in the video was not their de facto leader and repeated their demand that the trio be arrested for pornography.

Ismail also called for the public to trust the police to do their job and promised that the investigation into the video that was shown would cover all aspects.

“We cannot be expected to explain every step and detail of the investigations,” said the police chief.

Ismail had said last week that the police had begun its probe into the video based on Opposition Leader Anwar’s police report on March 22, the day after the video had surfaced.

He confirmed today that the investigation was for pornography under section 292 of the Penal Code and possibly the Film Censorship Act.

He said the police have no plans to take action against any individual as of now.

Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and accused Umno of a politically-motivated “scurrilous attack” on him.

The involvement of former Umno Youth chief Abdul Rahim has lent credence to the claim as Umno sought to distance itself from the video.

During a March 24 press conference, Abdul Rahim said the video was exposed to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”

A recent opinion poll found that 51 per cent of those surveyed did not believe Anwar was the man in the video, with 39 per cent saying Barisan Nasional had masterminded the video — more than twice as many as those who said the ruling coalition was not involved.

You don't arrest criminals just because the public say so. You should be duty-bound to arrest them especially when they have declared to the whole world that they have committed a crime. How come it takes you such a short time to even come to the conclusion that the tape was genuine and not doctored? Surely you don't have to investigate if the trio had admitted they were responsible for the sex tape when they have already confessed to it. You mean to say you doubt their claim that they were responsible? What a dweeb you are! I wonder how you even got to where you are! Mind-boggling, really!

The track records of former Inspector Generals of Police in Malaysia, for the past 12 years are rife with numerous cases of collusion with those in power against Anwar Ibrahim and family that the public just could not believe that this latest episode will be handled differently.

Needless to say, history will repeat itself and Anwar Ibrahim will be incarcerated again for sodomy and this video created by his enemies.

The people must work together and vote UMNO/BN out of Putrajaya before any action can be taken against the three Datuk Tong Taik!

Keep sex vid out of Parliament, says foaming mouth shabery

Karpal Singh’s call for Parliament to be shown the sex video implicating Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has met with opposition today from Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

The youth and sports minister rubbished the DAP chairman’s suggestion, saying that the video was a criminal matter that should be handled by the police — not parliamentarians. He added that screening the clip in the august House would sully its standing.

According to Karpal, the video should be screened for MPs so that the identity of the man in the video could be determined.

Karpal’s call did, however, find a supporter in Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz. The minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said earlier today that he backed the proposal for the video to be shown to lawmakers at Parliament but advised caution as doing so would likely contravene existing pornography laws.

“If we want to screen it in Parliament, where? It’s difficult to get immunity around Parliament. We have to ask the Speaker first as he decides. No need to bring a motion, just ask the Speaker,” the de facto law minister told reporters here today.

The video first came to light in a secretive screening at the prestigious Carcosa Seri Negara hotel on March 21, where those behind its showing had alluded that the man recorded was “prominent Malay opposition leader”.

Anwar has denied being the man featured in the video and has accused BN of orchestrating the video in an attempt at character assassination.

Three men — former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Datuk Sharzyl Eskay Abdullah and Umno stalwart Datuk Shuib Lazim — have already come forward to claim credit to being the mysterious “Datuk T” behind the screening.

The men subsequently surrendered the recording to the police, ahead of their self-imposed deadline for Anwar and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to quit all political posts or risk having the video released.

Today, a snippet of the video was discovered to have been posted online to video sharing site, YouTube, and traded among pro-Umno blogs.

Shazryl told The Malaysian Insider they had not released the video to anyone and that the only copy remained with the police.

A recent opinion poll found that 51 per cent of those surveyed did not believe Anwar was the man in the video, with 39 per cent saying Barisan Nasional had masterminded the video — more than twice as many as those who said the ruling coalition was not involved.

Firstly, we need to charge the persons who have shown the video to the selected journalists. I don't think we need MPs to determine whether he is DSAI in the video. There are many more important issues need to be addressed in the parliament. Come on, please don't waste tax payer's money. The police, please do your job for the rakyat, especially the tax payers not for your political masters.

UMNO's dirty politics have gone so far, why i implicate UMNO as no action taken against trio by police. If it were to be others, imagine what action police would have taken. Therefore, conclusion UMNO is deeply involved in this video

Clip proves man in sex video not Anwar, says PKR

PKR said today that the emergence of a two-minute snippet of the sex video exposed by “Datuk T” proves that its de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is not the man in the recording.

Communications director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said that the man alleged to be Anwar clearly had a different body shape to the opposition leader and that the 107 second clip contradicted claims made by the Datuk T trio that had exposed the video two weeks ago.

“Umno supporters had asked me how I could be certain it was not Anwar when I had not watched the video. Today I watched the clip and I have been proven right seeing the shape of the main character and his prominent stomach do not match Anwar,” said Nik Nazmi, who was Anwar’s private secretary for two years.

This claim was also made by PKR’s Sungai Petani MP Datuk Johari Abdul, who had said that he was invited to watch the video two weeks ago by the trio.

The clip of the video purportedly showing Anwar having sex was uploaded to YouTube yesterday and shared on several pro-Umno blogs.

Former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and Perkasa treasurer-general had collectively claimed responsibility as “Datuk T,” stating that they exposed the 21-minute video to show “a man who wants to be prime minister is not qualified.”

Opposition Leader Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and accused Umno of a politically motivated “scurrilous attack” on him.

The clip has surfaced on the Internet just two days after police said the video they received was not doctored but Shazryl told The Malaysian Insider today that he had no idea how the clip was leaked and insisted the police had the only copy of the video.

Nik Nazmi said in a statement today that the clip raised questions including who the second man in the video was, as “he behaved like the video’s director, giving the impression that this was not a secret CCTV recording as claimed by Datuk T.”

“Datuk T claimed the video was recorded in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. But the Thai writing in the video says ‘Phaholyothin Road Bangkok, Thailand 10400, Copyright 2011.’ Is this video simply a Thai pornographic video that has nothing to do with Malaysia?” the Seri Setia assemblyman.

Nik Nazmi added today that it was clear that the video was a political attack.

A recent opinion poll found that 51 per cent of those surveyed did not believe Anwar was the man in the video, with 39 per cent saying Barisan Nasional had masterminded the video — more than twice as many as those who said the ruling coalition was not involved.

Haha, thanks to the umno troopers for letting us to see the video (non x-rated part). Now I'm more convinced that it's not Anwar in the sex video. Why I say so?

i) compare Anwar look-alike (let's call it A) and China girl (let's call it B) face. A's face blur from time to time while B's face clear, both was seen moving around.
ii) Anwar's look-alike belly is big and the breast as of a fat man's breast.
iii) Eskay said the sex tape was recorded in a hotel in KL but now looks like it's taped in Thailand.
iv) Using black and white camera instead of colored camera (easier for a person to disguise as someone under black and white than colored)
v) Datuk Trio hid identity when exposing the tape and blackmailed Anwar and his wife to quit politics.

Judge it yourself.

Sex video teaser posted on YouTube, blogs

A two-minute clip of the video purportedly showing Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim having sex was uploaded to YouTube yesterday and shared on several pro-Umno blogs.

“I don’t know anything about this,” he said, before stating that he would need to see the clip before commenting further.

Opposition Leader Anwar has denied he is the man in the video and accused Umno of a politically motivated “scurrilous attack” on him.

Public blames Umno, BN for sex video, poll shows

A majority of Malaysians agreed that Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik’s self-admitted responsibility over the sex video allegedly featuring Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim meant that Barisan Nasional (BN) had likely masterminded the scandal, a recent poll found.

The survey, conducted by independent pollster Merdeka Centre last week, discovered that 39 per cent of the 504 respondents interviewed blame BN and Umno for the video.

But many also doubted the possibility, with 38 per cent saying they did not know.

Only 18 per cent said that the ruling coalition was not involved in the controversial video which shows a man with striking resemblance to Anwar engaged in sex acts with a woman, believed to be a foreign prostitute.

The telephone survey between March 24 and 27, obtained by The Malaysian Insider yesterday, has an estimated margin of error at ± 4.40 per cent.

A total of 504 respondents were selected via random stratified sampling method along the lines of state, ethnicity, gender and age.

The respondents comprised 59 per cent Malays, 32 per cent Chinese and nine per cent Indians.

Of the 504 respondents polled, 85 per cent were aware of the existence of the video while 15 per cent were not.

The clip first surfaced last week when a private media screening was held at the prestigious Carcosa Seri Negara by a mysterious man who identified himself only as “Datuk T”.

Following the screening, Anwar denied that he was the man, and called the emergence of the video recording a “scurrilous attack” against him, his family and Pakatan Rakyat.

A PKR MP, Datuk Johari Abdul then unmasked “Datuk T” as Abdul Rahim and businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay.

Following the MP’s revelation, both Abdul Rahim, the former Malacca chief minister, and Shazryl organised a press conference to confirm their involvement but claimed they had no personal vendetta to topple Anwar or PR.

Instead, Abdul Rahim told reporters that they had chosen to step forward on their own accord because they wanted to show that “a person with high ambitions of wanting to be national leader and prime minister of Malaysia ... was not qualified.”

“This matter is important, especially to Muslims because they will not accept a person without ... honour, integrity ... to represent them,” he had said, adding that they would fully cooperate with the police on the matter.

Abdul Rahim also repeatedly denied he was doing this out of vengeance against Anwar, whom he said had lied and forced him to quit his chief minister post years ago over the alleged statutory rape of a minor.

“It’s a coincidence. He had asked me to resign last time, so now I just want Anwar to follow in my footsteps,” he told reporters when questioned about the strategic timing of the sex expose.

Abdul Rahim and Shazryl also said that “Datuk T” referred to “trio” and included Perkasa treasurer and former Umno senator Datuk Shuib Lazim in their team.

All three men have since recorded statements with the police on the matter and have surrendered the original footing of the video, along with an Omega watch said to be Anwar’s.

While Anwar and PR leaders have vehemently denied the authenticity of the video and have blamed their foes in BN for it, analysts believe that the scandal would likely add further damage to the opposition’s voter support.

Based on the findings of the entire survey, Merdeka Centre director Ibrahim Suffian observed that the results reflected a significant level of uncertainty among the public over the video’s authenticity

“A lot of grey areas with the public, denoting possibly uncertainty, some hesitation or simply the lack of information when talking about Anwar, given that most publicly available news about him tends to be one-sided and negative,” he said

A majority of respondents said they did not believe in the authenticity of the video but a large number also admitted to being unsure.

In total, 51 per cent said did not believe that Anwar was the man in the 21-minute recording but 29 per cent were unsure.

A total of 17 per cent believed in the video while three per cent strongly believed in it.

As such, while 48 per cent said the scandal would not affect their confidence in the opposition pact, 41 per cent claimed that it would.

A total of 45 per cent also predicted that it would not destroy PR but 38 per cent said otherwise.

so Rahim, how much honour and integrity do you have? You are the best person to answer this question, aint it? I better not say much but dont forget why Lim Guan Eng had to go to jail.

Malaysians should realise that there is an urgent need to change to be an advanced country.

We need to have a two party system. BN is too corrupt and full of abuse of power. They are getting very dirty and should be voted out !!!

Anwar rides on anti-Taib sentiment in rural Sarawak

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appears to have kicked off Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) Sarawak campaign early and has gone on the offensive by riding on the anti-Taib sentiment.

The opposition leader wrote in his blog today that his message during ongoing visits in rural Sarawak was the “ruling elite” in government is raping the state of its precious resources for personal gain.

Barisan Nasional (BN) Sarawak’s Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, Malaysia’s longest-serving chief minister, and his family, has been the target of numerous allegations of corruption and cronyism in the state.

“This is my fifth day here in Sarawak. Over the past three days I managed to explore the inner recesses, where the Ibans, Bidayuh and also the Malays live.

“The response from villagers of Riit Mawang, Tabuan Melayu and Kampung Tarat Rayang was very encouraging.

“I told them that while they live hand to mouth, their elite leaders continue to reap the state’s riches through seizing their customary land rights, distributing timber treasures and dividing up contracts among themselves,” Anwar said in his posting.

The PR de facto leader also expressed confidence that from the response he had received from the Sarawak folk since he touched down on March 29, it was clear that the electorate was ready and “brave” enough to make a change.

“The people of Sarawak can now see that Barisan Nasional is starting to become desperate.

“Their leaders had to use the law enforcement authorities to block me and my other PR leaders from giving our ceramahs and spreading the truth,” he said.

Anwar then pointed to several incidents when the police had blocked him from delivering his speech, namely Kampung Sinjan and Kampung Petingan.

“But Alhamdulilah, this will not stop the Sarawakians from listening to PR’s agenda for change,” he said.

The PR parties have agreed to split the 71 seats among themselves and local partner SNAP, which however said it contest 27 seats after talks broke down with Anwar’s PKR.

BN is confident of keeping Sarawak but PR hopes to repeat the Election 2008 political tsunami by at least denying the psychological two-thirds majority in the state legislature.

But analysts say PR will have a tough to even double its seven seats won in the 2006 state elections.
