Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers raided the office of Selangor executive councillor Yaakob Sapari at the state secretariat building here this afternoon.

The five-member MACC team led by Superintendent Prem Raj Victor confiscated documents related to sand mining and the sale of sand by the state government.

Yaakob is the state Agriculture, Natural Resources and Entrepreneurial Development committee chairman.

The officers wanted to summon Yaakob’s executive secretary, Hussein Ahmad, to their headquarters for further questioning.

However, the state government will only allow him to be questioned during office hours as the High Court ruling that interrogations can only take place during office hours is still valid.

Officers confiscated documents related to sand mining only and not the sale of sand by the state government.

Yaakob later told reporters that the MACC officers are acting based on a report lodged against Hussein.

The report claimed that Hussein had illegaly approved a sand mining project and that the sand mining bosses had sponsored his trips to China.

“I have told them that my office does not have the power to approve any sand mining proposals and only the Semesta group can process the applications which will be presented to the Exco.

“His trip to Hangzhou, China was paid by the State government and approved by the exco.

“His trip to Beijing was also paid by a club under the state secretariat,” he said.

He added that MACC has no case against Hussein because they have documents proving he is innocent.

“This is straight forward. They are purposely doing this to bring shame to my office,” he said.

Yaakob also confirmed that three documents have been taken by the MACC — profile of the sand mining company and documents related to the China trips.

The MACC officers came with a warrant at 3.30pm and arrested Hussein.

Hussein was brought to MACC Putrajaya headquarters followed by state government lawyer Salim Bashir and Yaakob in seperate vehicles.

Whatever happened to all the police and MACC reports on Khir Toyo. So many police reports and proofs, are all of them classified as "N.F.A." because he is part of the 1Malaysia gang? How the hell can he afford a multi-million Balinese castle on his MB's salary. Or perhaps, the rot is so deep that MACC cannot afford to stir the dirt. Well, MACC! After all your deeds and actions thus far, all right-minded rakyat can see clearly that you are just another tool of UMNO, nothing more and nothing less.

how come we never heard of MACC raiding other state councilors of other BN states? It seems like MACC is only at work in Selangor and dead in other places.

If you want check and balance, if you want to minimize corruption, if you want the support of the MACC, vote PKR, PAS or DAP. This is the only way to ensure a clean, accountable and transparent Government! The excellent example from Penang plus the cooperation of the MACC to conduct checks very frequently on the PR reps ensure that they are on their toes always. Surprisingly, the MACC seem to condone corruption by BN rep. Something fishy? Working together? So the real deal Rakyat, is to vote PR, not only do we get a good and caring Government, the MACC also helps to ensure that corruption is minimized. PR is definitely the better deal!

This continuous raids program by MACC is part of the bigger plan to bring the PR Selangor State Government down but its not working because the current state government is fully aware of their enemy's strategy. More raids to come!

What happened to the Port Klang Free Zone scandal? MACC is too busy to defense their case of Teoh Beng Hock's and hooked small revolting fishes until no time to look into it?!

Come on, do something to deserve your salaries and befit the duties or prepared to be booted out!
