PAC briefed by Defence Ministry on missing jet engines

Share
Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid, the chairman of the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) said that they have had a meeting with some senior officials from the Defence Ministry today where they briefed the PAC on the recent missing 2 F5E jet engines belonging to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). Those present at the meeting included Datuk Seri Abu Bakar, the secretary-general of the Ministry as well as Jeneral Datuk Seri Rodzali Daud, the RMAF Chief. Azmi said “The meeting commenced with the officials briefing PAC members on the procedures in handling RMAF inventory.

We were briefed on procedural matters or how they conduct matters, such as repair and rehabilitation works. The PAC will start the inquiry proper once we get a clearer picture of the procedures,” he told reporters after the meeting Wednesday. He added that “Don’t jump the gun (call other officials including the Defence Minister). We have to be careful because the case is still ongoing in court. We don’t want to reveal matters that will appear sub judice,”
