Former Sec-Gen of MOSTI charged with accepting bribes

Datuk Abdul Hanan Alang Endut, the former secretary-general of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has claimed trial at the Shah Alam Sessions Court where he is being charged on 10 counts of corruption. The 57 year old man was charged for accepting bribes amounting to RM59,390.60 in blank UOB bank cheques issued by Adam Omar for the approval for his company, Global Goodway (M) Sdn Bhd under the Technofund at No 25, Jalan 17/21 Section 17 Petaling Jaya, between Dec 1 and Dec 15, 2008. As the fund approval committee of MOSTI, he is alleged to have received the cheques from Adam and then cashed them for among many others, payments for house repair (RM15,024), tithe (RM25,000), credit cards (RM9,275), assessment and quit rent (RM15.00) and as deposit in his wife's account (RM8,000). Judge Syafeera Mohd Said allowed bail at RM10,000 at one surety and fixed December 2 for the mention of the case. Hanan is currently with the Public Service Department.

  1. He'll sure win this framed up case. Judging from the cheques used and his past experience doesn't tally his apparent naivity. And look at the paltry amounts. There must be something else fishy with the MACC method. This is another "botched up" MACC operation.
