Two police reports over ‘slipper’ issue

Two police reports were made here today on MIC delegates relating to the issue of a suggestion that a garland of slippers be placed on former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s potrait.

The reports were made by Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM) and the Federal Territory Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) at the Brickfields police station at 11.26am and 11.56am resepectively.

Federal Territory Kimma chairman Mohd Fazil William Abdullah said his organisation was unhappy with the statement, which it deemed very rude and an insult to an elder statesman who had contributed a lot to the country.

“We feel the statement hurt the feelings of Malaysians who love peace and harmony. “So we want appropriate action to be taken on those who raised this issue (of the garland of slippers) so that the matter will not be repeated,” he told reporters outside the Brickfields police district headquarters compound.

Meanwhile, IRIMM president Amir Amsaa Allapitchay said the MIC should make an open apology to Dr Mahathir. In that regard, he also suggested that guidelines be drawn for delegates of parties to prevent them from making statements that hurt the others’ feelings.

“If things like this happen, Barisan Nasional needs to have a disciplinary committee for delegates,” he said.

It is so a noble thought to uphold the principle of living in peace and harmony.On contrary, we have always hear from their side penkhianat, bloodshed, pendatang, kris wielding awaiting to be used and many other name calling just because they are huddled in a big group. It is good to learn that there are those out there who are just as bad and we need to learn to train them to the big picture rather than joining them.

years back, some UMNO delegates has made some sedition speeches in perhimpunan UMNO, and it was coverred live by media, anyone watched it and heard. Police reports has been made, but no one has been charged for the sedition so far, wonder why .....
