Umno’s doors for membership from defectors always open - DPM

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the deputy prime minister said that the door into Umno is never closed and that they do not need to invite any former Members of Parliament of the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) to join them. He said that Umno’s door “was always open to anyone wanting to become its member. I don’t think there is a need to invite them as they know that our door has never been closed,” This came in light after the recent resignations of several members of the PKR including Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri of Bagan Serai, Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim of Bayan Baru and Zulkifli Noordin of Kulim-Bandar Baharu, who was sacked. Muhyiddin added that “They might be more comfortable at this early stage to remain as independents. This is because they might want to avoid accusations that they had been persuaded by Umno leaders. They have their own stand and we respect that,”
