MCA will continue to discuss social contract, but behind closed doors

Share
Loh Seng Kok, the deputy chairman of the MCA’s publicity bureau said that the social contract issue will still be discussed behind closed doors despite warnings not to do so. This came in the wake of reports where delegates in Umno called on Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, the chairman of MCA to stop questioning the 30 per cent bumiputera equity target by Datuk Badruddin Amirulddin, the permanent chairman of Umno.

Lee said “However, the party disagrees with the view that (the) social contract cannot be discussed at all. MCA is only voicing out the views of the ‘rakyat’. Dr Chua merely exercised his right to freedom of speech as enshrined in the Federal Constitution when he suggested that the social contract be discussed behind closed doors. (The) ‘rakyat’ can discuss on any issue as long as it is done through legal means in view that the Federal Constitution allows the ‘rakyat’ to have freedom of speech. Only through gradually reducing the Bumiputera quota and practising meritocracy, it will ensure the country’s economic transformation and growth to continue in achieving a high-income nation,”

If the social contract is enshrined in Article 153 of the Federal Constitution, the malays will be guranteed of their rights no matter which party rules the country and not only UMNO can protect the malays, infact, UMNO is robbing from the malays.

Present situation tells us that we are on the brink of bankruptcy because of 53 years of corrupt rule by UMNO and we cannot allow UMNO to ruin the country, further despite the so-called NEP, the majority of the malays do not benefit from it except a limited number of choosen ones and their cronies only benefitted.
