New site for Hindu temple found ... in Section 23

Share
An alternative site for the 150-year-old Sri Maha Mariamman temple has been found. The catch is, it is also in Section 23.

The new location is just 100 metres from the hotly disputed site proposed earlier, and 400 metres from any houses in the area.

The issue of relocating the temple had sparked off unhappiness that eventually led to the controversial cow head protest by a group of residents on Aug 30. The same group also successfully disrupted a town hall meeting, called to resolve the issue, on Saturday.

Aware the issue is a powder keg, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim today was quick to point out that all parties concerned would be consulted before any final decision on the relocation is made.

“The state is aware the issue is sensitive and will get consensus from all parties involved in order to resolve the matter.”

The mentri besar said the Sri Maha Mariamman temple committee will be informed about the new site and the matter will be discussed during a meeting.

The temple is now in Section 19 which was once part of the Sungai Renggam Estate. In 1994, the Selangor Development Corporation (PKNS) was allowed to develop the area into a housing estate.

However, no consideration was made for the temple which is now in the middle of a predominantly Muslim area.

Efforts by the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) administration to find a suitable location for the temple had also failed.

Khalid today toured Section 18, 19, 20 and 23 in Shah Alam in order to find an appropriate site to move the temple.

With him were Batu Tiga assemblyman and state executive councillor Rodziah Ismail, Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Samad, Shah Alam Mayor Mazalan Noor and PKNS General Manager Othman Omar.

Khalid Ibrahim is a great leader. Be patient. Do not succumb to all those noises coming from a few selfish people. The support for Pakatan government in Selangor has surpasses 70 percent. Good. The Malays, Chinese and Indians are united and want Pakatan to continue ruling the state. Bravo Khalid. Look for a suitable location for the temple. Let the Hindus have a proper place for worship. Believe in God is a fundamental tenet of the Rukun Negara. Hindus, Moslems, Christians, Budhists we are brothers. Let's help each other and stay united. Never ever be influenced by those who want to see you all divided. The sin committed by them will be punished by God.

for finding a quick new solutions to the temple relocation problem., I hope people of sect 23 can help the MB and the Hindu to find a new solutions, not keep barking on the problems. And do not let the politikus people like Ameno to influence your decision. Remember, we all are Malaysian, living in a multicultural country. We should be fair to each other and tolerate on our differences. Remember what other Muslim said, do not insult other religion as it is not part of your Islam teaching. Those are the teachings of the devil that wanted to create disharmony among us. Remember the value of being citizen of Malaysia, Truly Asia
