Muhyiddin says Umno will not repeat Permatang Pasir mistake in Bagan Pinang

Share
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today admitted that the Barisan Nasional (BN) had made a mistake in the choice of candidate for the recent Permatang Pasir by-election, but he promised the party would not repeat the same mistake in the Bagan Pinang vote.

“We have always been careful, except the last one in Permatang Pasir. There were some glitches but whatever it is, as we have mentioned, the candidate is very important, not just for us. It is important for voters to accept the candidate,” the deputy prime minister told a press conference here when asked if Umno will be very careful in selecting candidates for the Batang Pinang by-election.

Umno fielded a disbarred lawyer, Rohaizat Othman, for the Permatang Pasir by-election last month, which contributed to BN’s embarrassing defeat to PAS.

For Bagan Pinang, Umno warlords in Negeri Sembilan are now demanding that former Mentri Besar Tan Sri Isa Samad, who was suspended in 2004 for alleged involvement in vote buying be fielded, due to his popularity.

Muhyiddin however refused to comment on whether the former federal territory minister is the best candidate.

He said that he would wait for the Teluk Kemang Umno division, headed by Isa, and the state Umno, to make the recommendations.

“It depends on the names of the potential candidates to be submitted by the division and state Umno, I still don’t know who are the names, we will discuss with the party president before we decide,” said the BN election chief when asked about the possibility of Isa contesting the seat.

“The constituency is ours, we won it the last time and we will retain it,” he added.

The Bagan Pinang by-election was made necessary following the death of BN’s Azman Mohammad Noor last week.

In March last year, Azman defeated Ramli Ismail of PAS, by some 2,000 votes.

BN is currently ruling the state with simple majority after winning only 21 out of the 36 state constituencies.

Now that Muhyiddin had admitted that Umno had made a mistake in Permatang Pasir, shows that Umno cannot be trusted. All the while they were defending their candidates. Now that they have lost the election, he is admiting the facts. Most untrustworthy fella.

And now are they going to field a tainted candidate again? Either they are the most foolish men or there is no one better then this tainted fellow name Isa Samad. Something good is happening . Thanks God

You screwed up big time with the last (by) election. You are an embarrasment to us Malaysians. (and let's not even go near the Hisham guy. sheesh.). Really ,you really think you guys can pull it off there? Don't forget the KJ factor he is very very angry with you clowns. He might make a difference there. ISA, the former MB?. you gotta to be kidding me. Where are the technocrats, great orators, the thinkers, philosophers?. Sad part we do not have one. Sigh.. what we have are the cow heads, dickheads, cowdungs and of course I have to put up with this fat fat blob every day in the papers
