Teoh’s sister hits out at BN politicians for never attended inquest

Teoh Lee Lan, the 30 year old sister of the late political aide Teoh Beng Hock has hit out at the politicians from the BN (Barisan Nasional) saying that they did not bother to offer any sort of support in the inquest of Teoh’s death and for suggesting that her family was irrational and emotional throughout the process. She said that some BN politicians had tried to convince her against calling for a RCI (Royal Commission of Inquiry) and that justice will prevail in the end but none of them showed up at the inquest. The inquest is nearing its conclusion where the oral submissions will be heard at on Friday.

She said “They are saying that we’re not rational, that we’re being politicised. If you’re sincere in getting us justice, to give an answer to us, you should be there. During Beng Hock’s funeral at the end of July last year, MCA leaders such as former president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn, as well as Gerakan President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, had personally promised to push for a RCI to investigate her brother’s mysterious death. I urge political leaders to attend the inquest — just for one day. Let themselves judge why we are asking for the RCI. I don’t understand why they can’t keep their promises. It’s just [a] RCI to get us the truth. The prime minister had said that if we are not satisfied with the outcome of the inquest, then he will make due consideration to extend the RCI scope to investigate my brother’s death,”
