Muhyiddin announces RM5m for mosque and new school for Batu Sapi

The deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that the federal government is allocating an RM5 million fund to build a new mosque near the Batu Sapi area and with that, the Muslims in around the constituency would be able to enjoy the convenience and comfort in fulfilling their relisiougs obligations. He said “We (government) are approving this allocation because there are thousands of Muslims here (Batu Sapi). We are able to do so because we have the authority and capability,”

Batu Sapi is currently abuzz with campaign trails which is set to hold its by-election next week. Muhyddin was speaking after launching the People’s Housing Project in Lupak Meluas which will build 500 houses that cost RM80,000 and RM100,000. He said that “Only the Barisan Nasional (BN) government could deliver the goods unlike Opposition parties like Parti Keadilan Rakyat and the Sabah Progressive Party which he said were only good at “promising the moon and the stars”. As such, the people should continue backing the BN so as to ensure a bright future for themselves and their children.”

In a later function, he also announced that “The federal government had agreed to approve a request from the Sabah government for an allocation to build another secondary school in Batu Sapi. Cost of building the school, Sekolah Menengah Batu Sapi 2, is estimated to be between RM30 million and RM40 million had been included in the 10th Malaysia Plan and that the project was in line with Sandakan becoming an education hub in Sabah. Besides this, RM2.5 million has also been allocated to assist schools in Batu Sapi to purchase needed equipment and upgrade their facilities,”
