Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of Penang has come under fire after the recent demolition of stalls belonging to Malays in the state. This has caused more criticism which have been hurled at him of late, particularly from those within the Pakatan Rakyat. Defending on this issue, he said that there has been more Malay stalls being demolished during the BN (Barisan Nasional) administration.

In fact, during the BN’s government, there were at least 100 per cent more demolition cases (2006-2007)than there has been from 2008 to 2010. He said "I wish to clarify that the number of Malay stalls demolished under the BN administration from 2006 to 2007 was 100 per cent more compared to the number demolished by the opposition coalition from 2008 to 2010. What was being done to the government under his leadership now was the result of slanders being spread by the state Umno. The state government is now making efforts to convey correct information to the people in the state so that they were not deceived by the wrong information that was being spread.”
