Be careful with your ‘large donation’

Share

The allegation by Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing that he gave a RM10 million “loan” to MCA chief Ong Tee Keat raised many eyebrows. And Tee Keat has denied the huge ‘loan’ was ever made.

Yesterday, Ong Tee Keat filed a police report against Tiong. He also demanded an apology from Tiong within seven days for his public statement that he (Ong) took a RM10 million “loan” from him.

ong-tee-keat-tiong-king-sing.jpgTee Keat described the allegations made by Tiong, as "smear tactics and character assassination" against him. According to him, MCA is not in dire need of such monetary assistance from any party.

Meanwhile, Tiong has stated that he will not apologise, and according to China Press which interviewed Tiong, he has also refused to retract his statement on Ong.

Tiong, who is also the Barisan Nasional (BN) Backbenchers’ Club chairperson, said the RM10 million was paid in cash in three instalments.

Malaysian Mirror in an attempt to get some reactions to the unfolding drama, talked to three well-known NGO presidents on the matter.

Any donation must be recorded

Transparency International’s president Paul Low said tragunath kesavan.jpghat “there was no restriction if an individual wants to contribute to a party’s cause. In this matter, technically the contribution does not have anything to do with the PKFZ issues.

“The RM10 million issue is between Tiong and Ong. However, the PKFZ scandal must be solved,” Low said.

Bar Council president, Ragunath Kesavan, an ardent reader of Malaysian Mirror said: “The practice of giving gift or donation amounting to millions must be investigated, since there might be a tendency to corruption.

“Any donation must be recorded and acknowledged, especially if the amount is large like RM10 million,” he added.

Zaid Kamaruddin, the president of Jamaah Islah Malaysia (JIM) said: “It is technically correct for Ong to receive the donation, but then why must Tiong be contributing to MCA’s coffer if he does not have any reason?”

Since Ong has denied receiving the 'donation', the onus is on Tiong to prove that he had indeed 'donated' the RM10 million.

To sum it up, all of them seems to agree that even though such things can be done legally, the timing of the event can be such that to the public, all is not well.

That Tiong came up with the scathing allegation on the transport minister a day after the startling revelations were revealed on the PKFZ scandal seemed to indicate an act of vengeance.

Some political animals carry with them this theory in their political guidebook, i.e. "If I were to go down, I will make sure you go down with me".

Some political animals carry with them this theory in their political guidebook, i.e. "If I were to go down, I will make sure you go down with me".

I hope and pray that both of them will go down together.

The Bintulu Foochow BN Backbencher Chairman is trying to cover his ground over the PKFZ scandal by throwing the spanner - just typical of political animals who are prepare to bring everybody down when the state of affairs is running against them.

It is a dangerous and risky move that will capture the full glare of publicity.

DPM has already chipped in by telling them to resolve this matter within the 4 walls of BN.

But DPM's future is also not so bright now that he will earn the wrath of Muslim brethens who chastise personal attacks to this extreme level of calling DSAI a traitor to the Malays.

MACC and PDRM, the lap dogs of AMENO / BN would not be conducting any investigation on this allegation of massive corruption, because just like the case of Khir Toyol and other AMENO / BN warlords, it is considered as AMENO / BN warlords sanctioned corruption. Any other corruption be it minor or even alleged corrutption by the rakyat, by lesser or petty officials, or by the oppostion party will be thoroughly investigated becuase in Malaysia only AMENO / BN warlords sanctioned and mutually agreed corruption and abuse of power is allowed.

Malaysia can be used a fine example by the western countries on how to conduct selective persecution. In fact USA learnt from Malaysia on how to conduct selective persecution of the so called alleged but not proven in court muslim terrorists in Guantanomo Bay. This fact was infact verified and confirmed by the KDN webstite. Malaysia Boleh !Malaysia Gilang ! Malaysia Temberang !

No matter how one looks at it, it's corruption of the highest order. And we're not talking about ikan bilis here. If Ong did indeed take the money and it had not been reported to is party as a donation, angpow or whatever they he wants to call it, it's corruption pure and simple. And it's wrong. And both Tiong and Ong must face the consequences. The whole thing now surface because Tiong knows that he's caught with his pants down. I say, serve them right. One way for Najib to lessen the impact of this is to ask Tiong and Ong to make a trip to Taiwan and sort out their problem there before they are allowed to come back. They can use the excuse thay they are going there to study adavance agriculture; like how money can grow on trees. Sort of a follow-up to Tiong's previous trip. I'm sure the rakyat will fall for it.
