PAS threatens Bersih 3.0 if Najib reneges on polls reform promise

PAS Youth says it will spearhead a third rally for electoral reform if Putrajaya fails to fulfil the eight demands proposed by Bersih 2.0 earlier this year.

The Islamist party’s youth wing also said it would organise a street demonstration similar to the one which brought the capital to a standstill on July 9 if the prime minister calls elections before the reforms are implemented.

“As long as the government doesn’t fulfil the eight demands by Bersih 2.0, we will not hesitate to mobilise Bersih 3.0 with other NGOs,” PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan said at the party’s headquarters here today.

“PAS Youth ... hopes the government will ensure that elections will only be held after the parliamentary select committee on electoral reform has performed its duty and met all our demands.”

The polls reform panel, announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak following the Bersih rally, is currently holding a public hearing to hear views from ordinary Malaysians as well as lawmakers on the electoral system.

Barisan Nasional’s (BN) refusal to give a guarantee that elections will only be held after the select committee has completed its task showed that the ruling coalition was not confident of victory, Nasrudin said.

He also said PAS Youth would sponsor a national election convention in Shah Alam to prepare the wing’s machinery for snap polls, expected in the next few months.

Nasrudin added that PAS Youth has given the party leadership a list of candidates who are ready to be called upon to contest in the next general election.

“I’m not sure of the total number but the list has been handed to the central leadership,” he said.

“We have asked that 40 per cent of the candidates who will contest be chosen from among the youth, including the Wanita PAS wing.”

PAS is telling this to UMNO because UMNO knows very much how strong, how loyal, how brave and how many PAS supporters will fill up the streets, roads, and squares at KL if the leaders of BERSIH 3.0 asked them to come. IF PAS youths come with 100k, and non-partisan NGOs bring another 100k. What happened if the other silent supporters of BERSIH also come with another huge figure like maybe 100k?? Then that would bring 300k of supporters of BERSIH 3.0 (300K_3.0)

UMNO sure will feel the shivers, black-out and chicken out, and will need to consider Bersih 2.0 request seriously from now on. There is no doubt, if Bersih 3.0 is held due to Government filp "flom" over their decision and promises to clean up EC, then the people will march to the street and demand this for themselves.

This is just my prediction, but sometimes - looking at historical trends, this could become reality. If we look at how strong PAS's supporters spirit now as compared to UMNOs, no wonder government started operasi pemutihan to ask for Indons' help. Heh!!

Brother Nasrudin Hassan, You better get all the Pakatan NGOs preparing now for Bersih 3.0 otherwise will be too late. List out all the venues all, time it immediately, we will be there for a change of govt.
