Teoh family rejects RCI verdict

Share

The family of Teoh Beng Hock may request a judicial review of the suicide verdict delivered by the royal commission of inquiry (RCI) into the former DAP aide’s death.

“The verdict of suicide is unacceptable to the family,” Teoh family lawyer Karpal Singh told reporters at his office here.

“The RCI is an inferior tribunal in law and any decision made by an inferior tribunal is reviewable by the High Court.”

Karpal, who is also DAP chairman, said he is studying the RCI report “line by line” to decide on the next course of action, which will be made known early next week.

He added that there was no question of regret on the part of Teoh’s family, who pulled out of the RCI, as they felt the commission should not have been set up in the face of the ongoing High Court revision of the coroner’s inquest.

The royal commission ruled today that Teoh committed suicide as a result of pressure from continuous and aggressive questioning by MACC officers.

The officers had wanted to pressure Teoh to be a witness in their case against his boss, Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah, for alleged abuse of public funds.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz disclosed the finding today which he said was unanimous.

The royal commission also found three MACC officers to have breached standard operating procedures and recommended that action be taken specifically against them.

Nazri told reporters the government would leave it to the police to take the necessary action against the three MACC officers.

But Karpal said today he could not think of any action that could be taken against the three other than disciplinary action.

Fellow Teoh family lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, however, added that they were working to find a section of law that could be extended to cover the actions of the officers in question.

Be strong TBH family. The truth can only be uncovered when BN is fully ousted. Im not saying that MACC are murderers but when their SOPs clearly induced the 2 victims to commit "suicide", then there must be something wrong.

How do you know they commit suicide and not thrown out? with these animals in the MACC, its more likely that TBH and the late custom officer was "cooked" and thrown out to hide their crime...With a tainted Chief Justice can we expect justice for TBH???

To ALL RCI members, a person when still alive, felt from a height of approximately 100 feet, NO BLOOD came out from the body. Something is not right. Just do a simple test, throw a live animal (without wings, i.e, do not use duck or chicken) from the same window where the late TBH said to be felt from to the same place where his body was found. You will find blood from the death animal all over the place.

The late TBH should have been death more than half an hour before he was throw out of the window.

Even the hawkers in the market place will tell you that a person or animal died more than half an hour, the blood in the body will be harder. Check with the live chicken sellers, they can confirm this.

Any medical officer can help to clarify this?

The MACC officers simply bullied TBH into submission.... that's what the RCI says.... and ultimately, the bullies must be made accountable. The RCI only reveals how incompetent and obsolete interrogation tactics. They only know how to bully.... no need to use their brains.... just beat the heck out of the suspects... and get confessions any way they can. Murderers at MACC still walk.
