May Allah Bless Her ....Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo’ Lo’ dies

Share

Titiwangsa MP Dr Lo’ Lo’ Mohd Ghazali passed away from cancer at Selayang Hospital tonight. She was 53.

A text message from her mobile phone number was sent to The Malaysian Insider stating that she died at 10.13pm.

“The body is being prepared to be sent to Masjid Al-Akram, Dato Keramat,” said the message.

PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub confirmed the death when contacted by The Malaysian Insider.

It is understood that the first-term MP (picture) will be buried at 8am tomorrow.

A few PKR politicians had posted news of the PAS MP’s death on micro-blogging site Twitter earlier this afternoon but the family had denied it then.

The trained medical doctor was being treated at Selayang Hospital when she died.

In Election 2008, Dr Lo’ Lo’ beat BN’s Datuk Aziz Jamaludin Tahir with a majority of 1.972 votes.

Her Titiwangsa federal seat also includes Kuala Lumpur’s famed Kampung Baru Malay village which is now fighting Putrajaya’s efforts to enact a law that will allow redevelopment with other parties.

She is the fifth PAS lawmaker to die after the March 8, 2008 general elections. The others were from the Bukit Gantang federal seat and the state seats of Permatang Pasir, Manek Urai and Galas.

However, Dr Lo' Lo's death will not trigger a by-election as election laws only allow by-elections within three years of the first sitting of parliament after a general election.
