Datuk Seri Rais Yatim has won his defamation suit against a blogger who posted an article alleging the minister had sexually assaulted a former maid.
In making her decision here today, High Court Judge Datin Zabariah Mohd Yusof said the evidence presented compelled her to deem the defendant, 42-year-old Amizudin Ahmat, liable.
Information minister Raid had initiated the lawsuit on January 1, over a posting on Amizudin’s blog at sharpshooterblogger.blogspot.com.
On March 21, the High Court here granted an inter-parte injunction to restrain Amizudin from continuing to publish the article on his blog until the disposal of Rais’s suit against him.
In his statement of claim, Rais said the article contained false words that were malicious and implied he was of unchaste behaviour and loose morals.
The Jelebu MP denied the rape allegations in February after being named on the Internet.
Speaking after the ruling, Rais said he has always maintained his confidence in the justice system, adding that he was forced to sue in order to protect his reputation, as well as that of his family and the government.
Zabariah later set for submissions for damages to be made tomorrow.

Yes, of course since are the minister. What if you were in semangat 46? You would have lost the case and shamed by Utusan.
Which UMNO minister can ever lose a case in a Malaysian court? Which Opposition leader can ever win a case in a Malaysian court?
IF umno morons cannot win in their own kangaroo courts,,,what is the use of the Kangaroo judges ?
