Zul challenges Ngeh to surrender datukship

Share
A heated debate broke out in Parliament today with independent MP Zulkifli Noordin challenging DAP MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham to surrender his state award back to the Perak Sultan.

The dogged Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP who was recently sacked from PKR for indiscipline, accused Ngeh of being two-faced when he allegedly criticised Sultan Azlan Shah but at the same time, accepted the award that carries a "Datuk" title from the Ruler.

“I challenge you now to surrender your Datukship to the Perak Sultan. Do not play this two-faced politics. First you curse and swear at the Sultan but yet, this latukship (Datukship) you mau (want),” Zulkifli said, mocking Ngeh.

In his own defence, Ngeh stood up to retaliate and denied to the House that he had even cursed at the Perak Sultan.

“This is a blatant lie. You are lying. You are lying. I never spoke out against the Sultan. And since when I was the one who asked for this award? It was given to me,” he said.

Zulkifli, refusing to listen, insisted that Ngeh, who is from Perak, had often insulted the Sultan.

“You call yourself a Muslim. I never lied. I respect Islam but I condemn Muslims like you,” the usually calm Ngeh shouted in response, losing his cool.

An irritated-looking Zulkifli then stood up to continue his tirade against Ngeh, accusing the latter of being a follower of PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Go and meet your boss. But who is your boss? I do not know. Is it Permatang Pauh (Anwar) or Ipoh Timor (DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang)?.

“Whenever the courts rule against your people, you start to curse the Sultan, you curse the system. But when it rules in your favour, you are very happy and you say – manyak bagus ini mahkamah (this court is very good). Stop talking this two-faced politics. I think you should respect your own self,” he countered.

Ngeh had earlier stood up to speak in defence of PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim when Zulkifli, in debating the Subordinate Courts (Amendment) Bill 2010, had accused his former boss of deliberately delaying his sodomy trial.

Zulkifli had yelled at Ngeh to sit down, even as the latter scolded him for speaking against a person who was not physically present to defend himself.

“I did not give you the right of way,” Zulkifli argued.

Ngeh spat back, “If you do not want to give me the right of way to speak, then say so. Do it right.”

Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar lambasted Zulkifli for failing to inform Ngeh that he was not allowed to cut in and speak.

At the Parliament lobby later in the evening, Ngeh said there was no reason for him to return his Datukship to the Perak Sultan.

“Like I mentioned in the first place, I have never insulted the Sultan. I was also given the award, I did not ask for it.

“Furthermore, the Sultan has never said he would revoke my Datukship,” he said.

He further slammed Zulkifli for accusing him of being a subordinate to Anwar just because he had stood up to defend his fellow colleague in the opposition.

“Whe he had said about Anwar was all lies. When he spoke of integrity... he claimed that Anwar was deliberately trying to prolong his trial when he attempted to get key documents from the prosecution in his sodomy trial.

“He said it was deliberate procrastination but Anwar only wanted information. He was exercising his right,” said Ngeh.

Zulkifli's accusation that Ngeh had insulted the Sultan stemmed from the Perak crisis last year when the Perak Pakatan Rakyat government fell to the hands of the Barisan Nasional.

At the time, the Perak PR had urged the Sultan to approve the dissolution of the state assembly to pave the way for snap elections in the state.

Despite their call, the Sultan had refused to do so and the PR government fell when three of its assemblymen defected to become BN-friendly independents.

Zul. You are trying to get some cheap publicity, it seems? Hey, you are elected to bring and debate national issues, bodoh.

Another thing, I understand that there is a special room in Tanjung Rambutan reserved for a Zulkifli Nordin, is it for you? Your eyes does not look good, you really do not look normal. Just look at your picture when you claimed you are a PAS member yesterday.

Please go to Tanjong Rambutan, perhaps your mental strength is being severely tested?
