Zulkilfli and Zahrain selected to travel with PM to United States

2 independent Members of Parliament, Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim of Bayan Baru and Zulkifli Noordin of Kulim-Bandar Baharu will be travelling to the United States next week with the prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. They have been selected by Najib instead of his BN (Barisan Nasional) parliamentarians to ensure that the bills tabled in the parliament can be passed when the sitting takes place next week. Zahrain and Zulkifli were both from the PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) and had turned independent only in recent months. They will be travelling to Washington with Najib where he is expected to launch the Malaysia-United States Caucus then. According to local news portal, a BN MP said “Some of us were initially on the Washington trip but Najib wants us to stay back and come to Parliament everyday,

According to Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, apart from the 2 independents, Najib will also be accompanied by Datuk Seri Rais Yatim, the Information Minister and Malaysian’s ambassador to the US, Datuk Seri Jamaluddin Jarjis.

Expelled PKR member Zulkifli denied that he is part of Najib’s entourage. He said “I will be in Washington for about a week. I am going to Washington, the Prime Minister will be in New York. I am going earlier, it has no connection with the Prime Minister’s visit.... no ... no,”
