Share
There was a big surprise at the MCA party elections after delegates voted Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, the former deputy president of the party was declared the new president beating the other 2 ‘favourites’ Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat and former president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting.

Dr Chua won the post with 901 votes against closest rival Tan Sri Ong who polled 833 votes while Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat only managed 578 votes. The deputy president position was won by Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai who won with a majority of 65 votes where he polled 1,171 votes over Minister of Housing and Local Government Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha who polled 1,106 votes which means Kong’s ministerial career in parliament might be over.

The vice-president positions went to Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen with 1528 votes, Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai with 1469 votes, Datuk Chor Chee Heung with 1202 and Gan Ping Sieu with 1202 votes.
