S’wak CM slams those ‘planting’ anti-govt sentiments

Share
Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Chief Minister of Sarawak has hit out at those responsible for ‘planting’ anti-government sentiments among the people. He said this in his speech at the General Assembly of the SPDP (Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party) which was read out by Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, his deputy. In his speech he said "We are in politics to champion our struggle and not to sideline the main objective of helping the people. Of late, a group that is hungry for power, has emerged and has been spreading anti-government sentiments. If they want to champion the cause of the people, they must first learn to serve the people and the country before going into a political battle,"

Obviously refereeing to the opposition politicians, Taib Mahmud added that “Opposition politicians were making all sorts of empty promises to please the people and voters, including assuring them that they would be able to get more money out of development from their native land. For the people with the realization, it will be better for them to support BN rather than listening to loud-mouthed opposition politicians who do not have any evidence of their ability to help the people. The state would do its utmost best in providing efficient services to the people in line with the Prime Minister's 1Malaysia concept of ‘People First, Performance Now’. We appreciate the fact that the people want to see results. However, they must also be guided to realize that the alternatives to BN are not those from the opposition, otherwise they will make the same mistakes as those who voted for the opposition in some states during the last general election,"
