Najib asks Perak to accept ‘legal’ BN government

Share

Najib says BN will follow the rules.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak told Perak folk today to accept that Barisan Nasional’s (BN) takeover of the state government earlier this year was done according to the law.

His statement, as well as his presence in the state for the inaugural launch of his “1 Malaysia” concept, comes at a most appropriate time, just ahead of the impending Oct 28 state assembly sitting.

The sitting is expected to be just as chaotic, if not more, than on May 7, where Pakatan Rakyat's (PR) Speaker V. Sivakumar was forcibly removed from his position by plainclothes policemen.

The Tronoh assemblyman was subsequently replaced by BN's Datuk R. Ganesan, generating the series of arguments over the legality of his appointment, which was raised by the state's ousted PR administration.

Najib, however, remains convinced that the entire process was legal and assured the Perak people that the BN government would continue acting within the ambit of the law.

“I hope the people will accept that the due process of law has taken place in Perak; from the formation of the government and then back to the process in court.

“We will not do anything against the provisions of the law. We will follow the rules.

“We have a legal government in place so there is no reason why there should be any disturbances (in the assembly) that could create an inaccurate impression of the political situation in Perak,” he told a press conference after meeting state Umno leaders here this evening.

The BN chairman also threw some blame on the opposition for initiating the prolonged constitutional crisis in Perak when “they stole one of our ADUNs (state assemblymen)”.

“The starting point was when they stole one of our ADUNs. So, they played the game actually, it was not us,” he said.

Najib was referring to the defection of Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasarudin Hashim from Umno to PKR, a move which subsequently kicked off BN's takeover of Perak from the PR.

we all know what happened in perak, it was a sleazy and unethical as well as hostile take over by the present government. i'm sure the perak citizens will vote this government out in the next elections.

This is depressing indeed - this Prime Minister is once again pleading with Perakians to accept BN as its 'legal state govt' when the people's elected PR Government and State Speaker V Sivakumar had been forcibly removed by plainclothes policemen entering the Perak State Assembly which legally should be out of bounds to them, and this Prime Minister calls it a "legal" BN govt?

Whoever supports it must be the biggest idiot of all times!

is this 1Malaysia?

using the police to drag the sitting Speaker out of the august house is 1MALAYSIA? Never in the history has this happen in a well developed commonwealt country and you have the temerity to say its legitimate. enough of your spin, Najib. Until and unless you walk the talk, go preach to the kampung folks. to me, until you do so, you are no different to a snakeoil salesman.

Legal in your courts not the people's court. The people's court is through the ballot boxes. Give back the power to the people. Shameless to claim everything is legal.

Rakyat want a government choose by the rakyat, NOT by the court, nor by the Sultan!!!

Hello, Mr Prime Minister, do you want your position to be just determine by the Court, or the Agong?? You even liberate your party so that more members can choose their leaders and party president. But how you want all the Perakian accept a government just determine by a few persons in a court or by the Sultan???? Please make some sense…

What happened is Perak was wrong and it is sad to hear the Prime Minister trying to justify this wrong.

If he is honourable, he should direct his BN leaders in Perak to support dissolving the state assembly and allow the people to decide who they want to be their government in Perak. In this way, it is not only legal but the only acceptable democratic process.

So don't bullshit Malaysians, we are not fool. Najib should focus on winning the war (next GE) than trying to win this battle undemocratically.
