Malaysian F1 team will boost tourism, says Yen Yen

The 1Malaysia F1 Team, which will debut in the World Formula One Championship next year, will further boost sports tourism in the country, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said today.

Even the locals and Malaysians all over the world wanted to turn up to see for themselves the Malaysian team in action, she said.

“Any development of any sport will definitely be a plus point and as far as tourism is concerned, it will attract tourists and Malaysians to personally come and see the event," she told a news conference on the inaugural Malaysian Open tennis tournament here.

She said world-class events like the Malaysian Open tennis tournament and the Malaysian Grand Prix F1 race were major tourism products.

The government was helping to promote the Malaysian Open tennis tournament from Sept 26 to Oct 4, she said, adding that publicity on the event, including “live” coverage, would reach out to 200 million viewers globally.

ng yen yen is sleeping....why need malaysia f1 to improve tourism??? malaysia already is well known e.g. perak power rape, cow head demo, perak jungle assembly, pressuring freedom of internet media, etc.

lets make tun mah & najib as lead drivers while ng yen yen is reserve driver , then malaysia will be VERY VERY VERY FAMOUS!!! if not, this is another scam to leech away whatever money has in hand in the reserves.

its very very funny and weird that when the rakyat begs for subsidies of fuel or for food, the government will say ... no enough money. then how come suddenly there's enough money for 1malaysia f1?? this is something which the government makes me feel like a fool knowing nothing.

from evaluation, tun was a big spender but some of his projects which can be SEEN were very beneficiary to the rakyat. as for badawi, how can he spend when he's always sleeping on the job. as for najib, this pm is really a BIG TIME SPENDER saying billions has been spent but to where ???? at least, he should itemize for us ... we the rakyat deserves to know.

Spend billions on F1- Got money.
