PKR Kedah lawmaker quits party, likely to lose exco post

Share

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Razak (left) now faces another crisis, with a PKR lawmaker declaring himself “independent”

Lunas assemblyman Mohd Radzhi Salleh today quit as PKR member to become an independent lawmaker in Kedah, a move which could cost him his state executive councillor position.

“We are only unhappy with the PKR state and central leadership, but we maintain a good relationship with the state government,” said Radzhi’s political aide Jamaruddin Abu Hassan.

Jamaruddin, the Padang Serai PKR acting division chief, also announced the dissolution of the division today.

“The decision today has nothing to do with Ustaz Azizan,” he told The Malaysian Insider referring to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Razak.

Meanwhile, Azizan said Radzhi was appointed to the executive council based on his membership in PKR.

“Leaving PKR means leaving Pakatan Rakyat, I cannot say anything now but I am waiting for an official letter from PKR regarding his status, whether they can accept it if he continues as exco,” Azizan told The Malaysian Insider adding that he only found out about Radzhi’s resignation from reporters.

In an immediate reaction Kedah PKR chief Ahmad Kassim said he would meet Azizan to discuss Radzhi’s status in the government, but refused to elaborate.

“We will decide when I meet the mentri besar,” Ahmad said when asked if he would advise Azizan to replace Radzhi with another PKR lawmaker in the government.

“I have only read the story of his resignation from the Internet,” he added.

He told The Malaysian Insider he would arrange for a meeting with Azizan as soon as possible.

Apart from Radzhi, PKR is represented by two other councillors: Bukit Selambau’s Manikumar Subramaniam and Bakar Arang assemblyman Tan Wei Shu.

Prior to Radzhi’s resignation PKR was in control of five seats in the 36-member Kedah legislative assembly while PAS has 16 and DAP one. Radzhi won the state seat by more than 10,000 votes in the last general election.

His resignation today marks the second time the Kedah Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has been hit by internal crisis.

In July, DAP’s sole assemblyman, Lee Guan Aik threatened to withdraw from the state PR after disagreements with the PAS-led government.

Bad... if anyone wants to quit, then they've to relinquish all posts. Remember that you're there on PKR ticket and not as an individual.

This is just not fair! I voted for him because I wanted to vote opposition! Opposition parties need to be able to settle creditable candidates to avoid these kind of issues in future. Election Laws should be amended to make it compulsory for a elected representative to resign his seat if he switches parties.

please lah if u want quit please quit all plus state assemblyman because u seat ticket under PKR lah. Maybe this man going jump ship like PERAK state and also some people try play dirty trick to take over KEDAH , like PERAK , also SELANGOR , these people still not enought to play. if Barang Naik Club people still want play some dirty trick and these GE13 they will lose all the way HERO 2 ZERO
and they will regret so lah.

Be a gentleman. Quit and see if the people still support you. Anyway, Kedah is strong under Azizan's leadership. Since he has quit, he should not be given the exco post. The CM can decide on this matter. PKR would definitely want him replaced. Comes the next GE, make sure that candidates chosen are more trustworthy. A person of Manikumar's calibre should be the candidate. He was not in the limelight and many disagreed that he stood in Bukit Selambau. But, he made it BIG. PAS has credible candidates and we respect PAS for that.

The 'gaming' bosses are working hard.
When everyone is busy focused on Permatang Pasir, Kg Buah Pala and Selangor - these guys' hunters have already started to invest in frogs from the proceeds of special draws.

This is the pay-back to BN for approving special draws - which the BN considers 'halal'?

As it is, another PKR guy in Selangor too has gone missing.
His wife has declared that he will not leave PKR...yet.
The gaming company bosses are actively pumping more money in the investment to snare frogs.
This Selangor PKR guy is one easy target.

Looks like the BN of the previous years, is no more in existence.
The new devil BN is one that inistigates non-Mulsims to have special draws, use the proceeds to trap frogs in Pakatan Rakyat held states so that the state governments can return to BN rule.

And UMNO/BN will claim that it did not use money to entice the frogs.
That is true, as the BN/UMNO did not use its own cash to catch frogs.
It made the gaming company guys to use haram money to catch frogs and put in place 'halal' BN state governments.

BN/UMNO of today is not investing in gaining the rakyat's acceptance.
Instead it is specialising in making others catch 'frogs' for its benefit.

In return the gaming companies will get more business approvals, employ Malays and showcase themselves as dedicated Malaysian companies having majority staff strength comprising Malays/Bumiputras.
