Anwar dismisses polygraph test demand as ‘non issue’

Share

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dismissed Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah’s challenge to take a polygraph test to prove he is not the man in a sex video leaked on the Internet.

Anwar refused to entertain any questions today on Shazryl’s latest proposition, leaving other Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders to answer questions from reporters.

“It’s a non-issue,” Anwar (picture) said curtly.

PKR said earlier today it will not bow to the demands of “Datuk T” who has called for Anwar to take the lie detector test.

Deputy president Azmin Ali dismissed the proposal, saying the Datuk T trio should instead be tried in the syariah court under qazaf for accusation of fornication without witnesses.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang reinforced that view and said today the “sumpah laknat” (religious oath) undertaken by Shazryl last Friday was invalid.

“They have performed the oath wrongly... they swear on the Al-Quran but they don’t follow the basic tenets.

“They don’t follow the laws and simply swear on the Quran... this is not right,” Hadi told reporters.

The 21-minute video showing a man resembling the former deputy prime minister having sex with a woman with Far Eastern features was first aired to reporters at the prestigious Carcosa Seri Negara hotel here last month by a man who identified himself as Datuk T.

A few days after the viewing, it was revealed that Datuk T was a moniker that collectively referred to businessman Shazryl, former Malacca Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik and Perkasa treasurer-general Datuk Shuib Lazim.

PKR filed a qazaf report with the Religious Department (Jawi) against the Datuk T trio for their role in the emergence of the 21-minute video shortly after their identities were revealed.

Shazryl said yesterday that he was willing to take a polygraph test to prove that Opposition Leader Anwar is the man in the video.

He said the former deputy prime minister must also undergo the test which should be screened live on national television.

Shazryl said the two conditions were to avoid any deception or conspiracy in taking the lie detector tests.

He also swore last Friday in Masjid Amru al-As in Sentul here that he was telling the truth in the sex video saga despite being obstructed by PKR supporters.

Several parts of the video was posted on the YouTube video-sharing site from April 3 while a 16,23 minute version was uploaded to a pornographic site which is blocked in Malaysia.

Well done. Do not succumb to presure. They should take it openly on TV with someone from outside the country doing it. They lied and we cannot believe them at all Najib and his administration lied and that is we we cannot trust them that we want PR be give a chance and then see whether they do lie

The Trios who are definitely UMNO lap dogs could try to make a mockery of Opposition leaders in whatever ways they could think of but really they should have asked all UMNO leaders and lawmakers to take a polygraph test each and every time the Opposition exposed their misdeeds and for abusing their power in government procurements, awarding of contracts and projects without tenders and in money laundering.

The gang of Datuk T seem so very desperate to get this issue to move forward and get more attention from DS Anwar in particular and the public in general. Sudah-lah sumpah, now nak suruh orang pi buat lie detector test pulak. Tak habis-habis........
Any non partisan bystander would also wonder why the insistance by Eskay.
My take is that his role is to get this whole issue blown up and then he gets his part of the deal, whatever has been promised to him by the powers that be. Of course, he'll deny this and say that it's for the love of this country that he's doing this-lah !!
