Bakun dam is expected to be completed by end of the year

Share
The much-talked about Bakun dam project in central Sarawak that began its development in 1996 is scheduled to be completed by end of this year. It is reported that the dam would start generating power at its plant at the dam site located about 200 kilometres away from Bintulu by July next year.

The project developer Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd invited journalists to witness the progress of the project recently. The company is trying to provide more job opportunities in eco-tourism industry for natives who were affected with the project since 1996.

The construction of this mega project which is as big as the Republic of Singapore, delayed 18 months following 1997 Asian financial crisis. When the project was launched, about 15,000 people in the surrounding areas were forced to relocate.

Delay 18 months ????? It was delay more than 10 years my friend. China built the Three Gorge dam at the same year as our Boleh Damn China dam is about 9 times the size and cost of our Boleh Damn, yet China can complete its dam few years ahead of our BOLEH DAMN.

First pg, on the Star newpaper shows a BIG picture of Boleh Damn, in the picture we can see plenty 'green algae ' growing at the surface of the damn structure. Our Boleh Damn looks like a hundred years old structure ... what a Shame !.

We had lost multi billions on this Bakun DAMN another eye sore project by BN.
