Umno is desperate by associating Anwar with CIA

Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the Youth chief of PKR (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) said that Umno is desperate to regain the Malay electorate’s trust which is why they have come up with all sorts of claims where their latest linking opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with the United States’ CIA. He said “The latest allegation against the party’s de facto leader was part of Umno’s strategy to defame with a possible general election next year. This is a strategy to kill the character of Datuk Seri Anwar is to create a negative perception towards Datuk Seri Anwar among the Malay community with the possibility of having a general election this year. The continued negative news on Datuk Seri Anwar is clearly not based on sound evidence. Furthermore, sodomy conspiracy case on Datuk Seri Anwar is also increasingly nearing its end. PKR Youth believes that everything is planned based on Umno’s failure to convince the people in several issues that has provoked the anger of the people including the renewal of APCO’s contract,”

He added that “The government-appointed public relations strategist APCO Worldwide was responsible for Anwar’s character assassination. PKR Youth does not reject that APCO has a part in Umno’s plan to kill Datuk Seri Anwar’s political career and how conflicts are created between Pakatan leaders with old issues. Also how Pakatan papers like Suara Keadilan, Harakah and Rocket are facing problems in renewing their permits. The answer given by the Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Rais that action will be taken if there are evidences show that Umno is desperate to kill Anwar’s character. That answer also shows that the police has lost its credibility after 12 years that the issue of CIA has been played but Anwar has yet to be convicted,”
