Teoh’s family, friends told to undergo psychiatric tests

Share
Seven family members and friends of Teoh Beng Hock received notices today to go for psychiatric evaluations at the Selayang Hospital on October 19.

Family lawyer Gobind Singh Deo said he received the notices from a police investigating officer today.

He said among those who have to go for the evaluation is Teoh’s wife Soh Cher Wei, 28, his parents, siblings and best friend.

The Coroner’s Court holding an inquest into the death of the political aide, whose body was found on the fifth floor landing of Plaza Masalam on July 16, ordered the evaluation to be done, to determine his state of mind before he died.

The 30-year-old political secretary to Selangor state lawmaker Ean Yong Hian Wah had been questioned by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers at their Selangor Headquarters located on the 14th floor of the building the night before he died.

Gobind said the witnesses had been told to go to hospital between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Magistrate Azmil Muntapha Abas, who is acting as coroner in the inquest, had ordered the tests to be carried out by two government experts in forensic psychiatry.

Dr Noor Hayati Ali from the Health Ministry and Dr Badi’ah Yahya, a consultant forensic psychiatrist with Hospital Permai in Johor Baru, have been appointed to interview the witnesses.

WHAT!!!!!! Those who love TBH need to go for psychiatric tests. Can somebody please tell me why. The ones that need to be tested immediately are the Deputy director and those investigating officers involved in TBH' case. Future successful applicants of MACC should also go for the psychiatric tests
