Selangor Umno backs Hasan Ali in Selcat spat

Share
Selangor Umno supported the call by Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Ali who urged the state’s Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency’s (Selcat) to carry out investigations behind closed doors.

Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Noh Omar said if the process was carried out openly, it could tarnish the image and dignity of government officers who were called in for questioning.

He said that Selcat should not carry out “open trial” as the committee was not a court.

“It’s as though Selcat is trying to take over the role of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). Open hearing will only embarrass the officers,” he told reporters at a Hari Raya open house hosted by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah here today.

He said that it was not fair for Selcat to call in officers to testify when it was the job of the MACC to do so.

“This is like doing the job twice. The MACC should be the one taking action if there is an abuse of power or corruption,” he said. — Bernama

But the MACC is just a political tool for Umno, like the police.. how to trust the MACC? pls tell me, Noh Omar.. We need Selcat badly.. why is Umno so afraid of Selcat?

MACC will never take again action. Look at the past reports done by the opposition. MACC will only investigate for RM2400.00 and not RM12.6Billion. This is MACC style.

Selangor UMNO sure wants to support the brainless Hasan Ali bcoz selcat is all out to disclose the corrupt practice of BN assembly men.

Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Noh Omar said if the process was carried out openly, it could tarnish the image and dignity of government officers who were called in for questioning. How about MACC suspected of murdering Teoh during the interviews and how about the MACC treated YB Ronnie's assistant in an inhuman way????

Are all these OK??? UMNO which is notorious in its ways should mend their ways and watch their own backside instead of campur tangan in SELCAT business...UMNO has no moral authority whatsoever to interfere SELCAT approach in dealing with corrupt officials.....UMNO should look into the PKFZ mess and their internal widespread corruptions among its members before meddling into SELCAT.....UMNO sholud be mindful of their own corrupt ways...PAS Hassan is afraid of SELCAT probably he could also be a corrupt member of UMNO....Hassan is nothing more than a wolf hiding in sheep's skin....WATCHOUT CALLING ALL PR MEMBERS...

Needless to say much. UMNO and its lapdogs (MACC, police, Utusan etc) attack from the outside, Hassan Ali as a Trojan horse, attack from the inside.

This bunch of politicians (should I call them politician?) even can’t understand the essence of parliament democracy. Legislative & judiciary should function as a check-and-balance to the administrative. It is an important practise in a democratic country to have open inquiry by the legislative. Inquiry to be done in open is to ensure that justice be done, and seen to be done in the eyes of the people. If inquiry had done behind closed door, how the people will know that if that inquiry being carries out properly and justly? Can it be another sweep under the carpet gimmick?

Investigations behind closed doors, that has been BN's way of covering up things for umpteen years. Needless to say this is unfair, unprofessional and cannot be accepted any more.

PR govt's bold initiative to hold open inquiry is the best way for the public to know whether state funds are well managed or mismanaged by district officers. It is incomprehensible why certain quarters are so opposed to the good practice of transparency and accountability.
