A police report has been made against the Penang Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMMPP) for allegedly making a false statement against the Penang state government.
Datuk Keramat State Asemblyman Jagdeep Singh Deo for the Penang government said DPMMPP claimed that the state government had discriminated against Malay traders.
“The statement by DPMMPP is a lie aimed at fanning racial sentiments. Local Government and Traffic Management Committee Chairman Chow Kon Yeow had explained that it was based on statistics from local authorities,” he said here today.
He asked police to investigate the statement by DPMMPP to ascertain whether it was slanderous towards the Penang government and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Yesterday, 30 Malay non-governmental organisations (NGO) called Gabungan Sedaq held a rally to send a memorandum to Lim to register dissatisfaction for his treatment of Malay traders.
The rally of 3,000 people led by Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali failed to deliver the memorandum personally when Lim refused to meet them

An amno outfit can do anything and they are above the law. Now they're hungry because the cow they used to milk is in good hands.
The rally of 3000 people?? Come on... there were less than 200 of them. And many of them are not even locals!
Dpmmpp used to be the godfather of many small traders and bumi contractors and a center to share apples and goodies, in particular, the small and medium projects monopolized and allocated amongst the class F contractors! Since 308, and it's a political plot that most of the small projects allocations from the federal government had been siphoned to the Northern BN control state, Perlis, just to name one, the goons here in Penang had suffered few or zero project and are left to starve!
With due instigation, they are now turning their fury on the PR government which has no say over the federal allocations. Hence all the pot shots!
They should instead blame their Minister of letting them to rot, and torched their effigies...stupid!!!!
