Minister wants royal commission to study Penang government

Penang Umno today suggested the setting up of a royal commission to study the feasibility of a Penang state Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government helmed by the DAP.

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said the commission was suitable as the opposition coalition was always calling for a commission to investigate the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s weaknesses.

“The opposition DAP very easily hurls accusations on the (federal) government, calling for a commission, and to produce a white paper.

“Now we call for a white paper or a royal commission to study their weaknesses,” he told reporters after being asked to comment on the crisis between DAP and the Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) now.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Umno vice-president, was met after a working visit to the Rimba Taqwa Camp of the National Service Training Centre here today.

He said when PKR revealed the attitude of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, it clearly showed the problems within the opposition coalition but Lim refused to admit to it.

“BN will not interfere but leave it to the people to make a change. For two years of DAP rule, there has been no progress, no new investment, rather the rights of one race are sidelined although not in the name of race but their action shows the DAP’s prejudice.

“While championing a Malaysian Malaysia the DAP does not practice their slogan. The actions of demolishing stalls of traders who are not their supporters is the real attitiude of the dictatorial DAP,” said Ahmad Zahid.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also Defence Minister, said the people of Penang should review their stand from now of whether to support the PR or return support to the BN.

He admitted that the BN had made mistakes and paid a heavy price when the state was wrested by the DAP in the 12th general election.

“If people want change, development and the fulfilment of the needs of all races, it would be better to change from now as the 13th general election is not far away. Also BN is not like PR that oppresses a race,” he added

What rubbish is this Ahmad Zahid talking about? Did he not hear that Penang is the most well managed state in Malaysia, even recognised internationally? Which hole did he crawl out from. I am worried of Malaysia's Defence.

what a joke. just based on accusations from UMNO and UMNO related NGOs. This guy should spend more time in his ministry!!!

We have a PM who cannot run the country and whose most recent failure is the loss and theft of two jet engines while he was Defence Minister. Now he seeks to deflect attention by focusing attention elsewhere.

All that can be confirmed is that the only commodity that this PM has in abundance and excess is DECEIT!

Why not a Royal Commission to study whether the UMNO led BN can lead Malaysia? After 50 over years of "leadership", the country is only just, just ahead of Zimbabwe ..

Then we will know how well the government is run. You have HINDRAF making complaints to Britain but their activists were detained under ISA. How you have Malay NGO making issues, but instead of detaining them for disturbing the peace, some idiot of minister asks for Royal Commission.

another way to waste our tax money. Use our hard earn $$ to study how they can regain control of Penang gov. Does PR ever use that $$ to do the same on you?


Zahid Hamidi, you are one sick person because you have grown in weight and waistline. What investment has the BN government brought in for Malaysia for the past two years except only think of getting back the states that Bn has lost to PR.

Always using dirty tactics to gain control thinking that the rakyat is stupid and blind.
Furthermore, you,UMNO, have not only sideline the non-malay but also your own people, the malay, by enriching the umnoputras through NEP instead of really helping the poor. We the non-malay really do not mind if the government really help the poor but the way you help yourself through corrupted means and sidelined the poor is what make us angry.

So all Malaysian do wake up before it is too late to help the nation of Malaysia, UMNO is sucking us dry through evil schemes and empty promises after promises. They are evil.
