when a heifers is still talking...Prioritise cases involving violent crimes against women, Shahrizat tells cops....but what about misusing govt fund for cows and condos?

Speed up investigations into cases involving violence against women, including foreign nationals, to give the “correct signal”, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said today.

The Wanita Barisan Nasional (BN) chief added that such a move by the police would give a clear signal to the world that Malaysia was serious in tackling the issue.

“As Wanita BN, we view the issue of violence against women very seriously, and we would like the police to expedite investigations (regarding violence against women) and leave no stone unturned.

“All forms of violence against women are totally unacceptable in this country, and we must give the correct signal,” she told reporters after attending Wanita BN’s Deepavali event opened by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan here today.

Shahrizat , who is also Wanita Umno chief, said this in response to two rape cases involving Indonesian women in Penang and Negeri Sembilan, which were reported recently.

She said all women, local or foreigners, who fell victims to violence, should be given equal justice in court.

On another development, Shahrizat said women were expected to become the biggest determining factor in the 13th general election.

She said this was because BN’s election machinery and the voters in the country comprised mostly women.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said the cooperation given by the party machinery, including Wanita BN, was vital for BN to win back the seats which the coalition had lost in the last general election.

“It is our aspiration, and Wanita BN’s aspiration, to work harder to win back the Teluk Kemang, Lukut, Chuah and Port Dickson seats,” he added.

An ex Minister for Women Affairs and Wanita chief has to tell the police how to do their work effectively while the Home minister and male minister in charge of Women's Affairs are silent and clueless on what to say or do .Who is in charge of what in Malaysia now ?

Why is the PM always avoiding major issues and never acted personally? He only know to launch new projects or agendas but when trouble appear, he hides in his rat hole.

Coming from a former minister of women and family, calling people to do their job when she fails as a mother...Everything is rotting, when the heads stink

I also do agree that we should speed up investigation on all the crimes but just wondering why the police moo(ve) like a cow when comes to cases involving VIP especially your family.

monkey business...it seems...Malaysia’s economy expected to surpass forecast after strong Q3 growth but where is The DEBT RATIO against it ....poppycock....!!!!

Malaysia’s full year growth could surpass the government’s earlier forecast of 4-5 per cent after the economy expanded by 5.2 per cent in the third quarter, said Bank Negara today.

“We expect it (the full year growth) to be at least five per cent or better given that the first three quarters were better than expected,” Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz (picture) said at a press conference here.

Zeti also said that the economy was expected to grow at a similar rate in the fourth quarter.

“The fourth quarter (growth performance) is likely to continue very much as the third quarter,” she said.

The economy grew by 5.6 per cent in the second quarter and by 4.7 per cent in the first quarter.

Growth in the second quarter was revised upwards from 5.4 per cent to 5.6 per cent due to new data, said Zeti.

The Malaysian economy was affected by weaker external demand, which led to a 50.5 per cent decline in net exports of goods and services but the drop was partially offset by sustained growth in domestic demand.

Domestic demand continued to drive the country’s economic growth with private sector demand growing 11.6 per cent in the third quarter and public sector demand expanding 10.9 per cent.

“We are not insulated from external uncertainties but the anchor to the economy is domestic demand,” said Zeti.

Private consumption grew by a slower pace of 0.8 per cent in the third quarter as compared with 2.8 per cent the previous quarter, helped by government aid policies, such as the RM500 handouts to low-income households, bonuses and readjusted pensions to civil servants.

Inflation moderated to 1.4 per cent in the third quarter from 1.7 per cent in the second quarter.

“However, we can’t rule out upside risks to inflation...” Zeti said.

Net financing grew by 12.8 per cent while loan growth increased 11.9 per cent.

Zeti said based on stress testing, Malaysian banks remain well capitalised and the risk of deleveraging by European banks to Malaysia remained low.

“Stress tests affirm the resilience of financial institutions under severe contraction and extreme volatility and under the worst case scenario, capitalisation of Malaysian banks remain satisfactory,” she said.

Zeti said that while external sector weakness will affect overall growth, factors underpinning domestic demand are expected to remain firm.

She said that private consumption will be supported by stable employment conditions, income growth and cash transfers while investment activity will be led by business spending in domestic oriented sectors, infrastructure projects and the oil and gas sector.

Zeti , When you announced GDP PLease also announce The DEBT RATIO against it .You can say what ever you like , but when you ask the retail business people ,The answer will be VERY BAD. Zeti please only the truth, we are literate malaysians..

How can our GDP expand when everybody else is shrinking? This growth is no growth but artificial number generated by excessive borrowing and spending by the government. This funny growth is going to translate into financial pain down the road for all of us.

Malaysia is a small country and "artificial growth" in economy could easily be done (manipulated) by injecting several billions of ringgits into the stock markets. The real economy will withstand several Quarters (not just by one Quarter). Last Quarter, there was an "artificial growth" in certain counters at KLSE due to manipulation of funds and speculations. But now, every counters seems to come back to normal. So, this is what I call, "artificial economic growth".

I reached a point that I cannot trust any articles from the Govt, Public service, Bank Negara etc. UMNO may call it a perception but remember, perceptions are build by UMNO policy and corruptions + abuse of power. PR, cyber news and bloggers merely investigate and bring thenews to rakyat. It would be positive if UMNO rectify it but..... ( noticed I only mentioned UMNO and not the BN component parties since they are toothless).

Pls note that the world economy are going down hill and Msia is export oriented, how can we see growth? Another election brainwashing strategy? Do you know how many factories are retrenching and having 4 days week working day (esp electronics?

I am sorry, I dont buy what you said

exactly most government employees especially doctors in government hospital are pest monkeys to the rakyat...

Ali Hamsa: Termination of council chief’s tenure at Selangor’s request

The termination of secondment of Datuk Zainal Abidin A’ala as the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) president, which took effect yesterday, was made at the request of the Selangor government, said Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ali Hamsa.

He said he was informed by the Selangor State Secretary, through a letter dated October 15, 2012, that Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had decided another officer would replace Zainal Abidin.

“Taking into account the decision made by the Selangor Mentri Besar and the local authority, the Public Service Department (PSD) had on November 6 issued a letter of approval for the proposed termination of secondment of Zainal Abidin as MPS president effective November 15, 2012.

“The transfer letter for Zainal Abidin was issued on November 9, stating that he will be transferred to the National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) effective November 15, 2012 is in line with the request from the Selangor government,” Ali told reporters here today.

Zainal Abidin’s sudden transfer to Intan had sparked controversy as it was said to be connected with a 29-storey condominium project next to Batu Caves, Selangor.

Ali said in order to fill the vacant top post at the council, the PSD had submitted the names of 14 suitable candidates for the Selangor government’s consideration, but it was learnt that the Selangor government already had their preferred candidate.

When asked on the position of Health Director-General Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman, who had pleaded guilty to committing ‘khalwat’ (close proximity) with Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita Wan Hassan, also an officer with the Health Ministry, Ali said the couple would face disciplinary action according to the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

He said the ministry’s secretary-general had also notified the Public Service Commission (PSC), which would decide the type of punishment to be imposed on the duo, including whether to issue a warning letter, fines, curtailment of emoluments and a demotion.

The couple were also ordered to take leave pending a decision by the PSC, he said.

Ali, however, did not dismiss the possibility that a new health director-general would be appointed.

Meanwhile, in response to Petaling Jaya City Council member Derek Fernandez’s remarks branding civil servants as ‘monkeys’, Ali said it was indeed an insult to civil servants.

He said people should be careful and learn their facts before making any statements.

“I’m leaving it to the civil servants to make a decision with regard to this.

“We are human beings. None of us are monkeys. I do not think we should be labelled as monkeys,” he said.

In his response to PSD’s candidates for the post of Petaling Jaya Mayor, Fernandez was reported by an English daily last Monday as saying: “Let’s see who the candidates are. If they are going to nominate some monkeys, we will reject.”

"We are human beings. None of us are monkeys. I do not think we should be labelled as monkeys,” he said. - then you should remind all civil servants, regardless of their rank, to treat and serve the public as human beings, not to behave like they owe the public a favour. Remind them also that their wages come from the public, not the ruling party.

It would be terrible for anyone to wish for UMNO-BN held Putrajaya's brand of "best democracy" to be inflicted on anyone.

But truth is, what's happening in Sarawak under Taib is not exactly Uutopia, no?

Hard to tell who are suffering more - the folks under the thumb of Taib directly, or trapped in one way or another by the tenacles of UMNO/BN.

The rot started at the heads, now it has lost control....

Cops face rape charges amid rising anti-Malaysia sentiment in Indonesia

two types of jungle law in malaysia..???.....whether the accused is in the picture on the right is also a black sheep..????

Three policemen were charged in a Penang court today with raping an Indonesian restaurant worker in a police station there, in a case that has reignited anti-Malaysia feelings in Indonesia.

Constables Sin Mat Lazim, 33, Syahiran Ramli, 21, and Remy Anak Pana, 21, pleaded not guilty when the charges under Section 376 of the Penal Code were read out to them at the Sessions Court in Butterworth this afternoon.

They were also charged with forcing the 25-year-old Indonesian woman to perform oral sex on them — a crime under Section 377C of the Penal Code — at Room 4 of the Prai police station barracks between 6.40am and 7.30am on November 9.

The trio could be jailed up to 20 years and whipped if convicted.

Last Friday, a 25-year-old Indonesian woman had sought the help of Bukit Mertajam Barisan Nasional coordinator Lau Chiek Tuan to lodge a police report alleging that she was gang-raped by three policemen at the Prai police station.

The restaurant worker claimed that she was taken to the police station after she was stopped by a police patrol car near Megamall Pinang shopping complex at around 6.30am while travelling in a taxi.

She alleged that she was taken to the Prai police station after she showed a photocopy of her passport and the police refused to accept it.

She claimed that she was taken to a room at the police station where she was raped by three policemen.

Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has condemned the alleged rapes as despicable and inhuman acts and pledged full government cooperation in a bid to placate rising dissatisfaction from the Southeast Asian giant over ill treatment of its citizens here.

Anti-Malaysian emotions that had been simmering in Indonesia flared up again this week after a second Indonesian, a 15-year-old maid was reported raped by her male employer on Sunday three months after being hired.

A group of Indonesians were reported to have protested outside the Jakarta home of the Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia three days ago to demonstrate their unhappiness with Southeast Asia’s third biggest economy.

The group, said to represent Indonesian nationalist movement, Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat (Bendera), were reported to have carried placards that read, “Evict the Malaysian ambassador, Crush and Fight Malaysia” and burnt the Malaysian flag.

Bendera had threatened to attack and invade Malaysia in 2009, as part of its “Ganyang Malaysia (Crush Malaysia)” agenda, over territorial ownership of culture, oil, islands and treatment of its migrant workers.

The term “Ganyang” was first used in 1963 when then Indonesian President Sukarno opposed the merger of Malaya with Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore, resulting in the undeclared armed conflict known as the Confrontation or “Konfrontasi”.

This Indonesian lady have the right to sue for her Civil Right and the first defendence should be Home Minister which oversee the police force.

Can we trust the force anymore? It proves again....never follow them back to the Balai.

Its a disgusting, unforgivable and inhumane act, worst still committed by Uniformed Royal Police Force personnel. What ashame...the whole Department has to be accounted for such dispicable act. Its a Total Abuse of Authority and Uncivilization!! Its time to revamp the selection of Personnel.

Irene Fernandez has been the voice for foreigners and refugees mis-treated by our authorities yet PERKOSA wants to exile her. It is clear that these empty heads do not respect human values or any law. It is time we award her a "Tan Sri" for her unselfish and bold service to Malaysians and our guest workers.

The ones guilty must be sentenced accordingly..but i think the indonesian media should also highlight those indonesian who always do crime like robbery and so on..how many malaysian have been robbed by them!

Even the PM is hiding when there's trouble...

Our home minister is doing nothing and busy spying opposition parties, providing doubtful crime statistic some more.

We need to UBAH the whole govt. Revamp it...!!!! We need to clean up Malaysia's good name. Rakyat had enough of 55 years of poor ruling.

that's right...BN will win 13th General Election but with guile and voter rolls are not clean

BN will win 13th General Election, says Tengku Razaleigh

Gua Musang member of parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is confident Barisan Nasional (BN) will win the 13th general election and continue to administer the country.

He said the people had experienced a wave of transformations implemented by the BN government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“BN will not have a problem achieving victory at the 13th general election as the people have enjoyed the various developments implemented by the government.

“Initially, there might have been pockets of residents who did not accept the transformation introduced by the prime minister but lately, they have begun to understand the real objective of the matter,” he told reporters after presenting ‘Touch Point’ assistance to the Orang Asli community at Pos Hendrop here today.

Also present were Galas state assemblyman Ab Aziz Yusof, Gua Musang Orang Asli Development officer Azman Ngadiron and Gua Musang federal development department officer Muhammad Shukri Abdul Aziz. – Bernama

We don't mind if BN wins the election on fair and clean election. But apparently no sign shown coming GE13 is a fair and clean election!

Najib demanded his people to win the election "by hook or by crook" without caring for fair and clean election. This can be deduced by he dragging his feet on meeting conditions suggested by Bersih 2.0

Unhealthy Ministry....Follow Chua Soi Lek Footprint...Health DG fined RM3,000 for committing khalwat

both from same unhealthy  ministry...shameless

Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Hasan Abdul Rahman was fined RM3,000 or three months jail in default by the Syariah High Court here after pleading guilty to committing “khalwat” (close proximity) early today.

Dr Hasan, 56, admitted to committing khalwat with Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita Wan Hassan, 36, also an officer with the Health Ministry, at the Pullman Putrajaya hotel here at 2.18 am.

Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita also admitted guilt and was fined RM2,900 or 30 days jail in default.

Syarie judge Mohd Amran Mat Zain in handing down the punishment, said he took into consideration that it was their first offence and they had shown remorse, besides the fact that they planned to tie the knot.

The duo could were liable to be fined up to RM3,000 or jailed not more than two years for the offence.

According to the facts, it took Dr Hasan five minutes to open the door of their hotel room after an enforcement team from the Federal Territory Islamic Department went to check on them following complaints from the public.

On entry, the team found both of them fully dressed and investigations showed Dr Hasan was a widower while Wan Syarifah Nooraazmanita was in the process of getting a divorce.

They paid the fine. – Bernama

Working very hard at 2am......time for more bonus for civil servants by Jibby...anything to get the civil servant to vote for him...maybe Health DG may get a promotion....it is the way of the BN....

He is a top civil servant so he represents the govt Both are muslims and Malaysia is an islamic country as claimed. What he did may be during his private moments but he is still a public servant. Even American CIA director voluntarily resigned after he divulged that he was engaged in adultery. He was not even caught. That is what we call an honest, responsible person with integrity.Any person holding high office in govt has to live with certain restrictions and obligations even in his private life.

Did he resign? Will he resign? Will he be pressured to resign? I think we know the answer already. No accountability and integrity.

This "running dog" thinks she is going to be rewarded with an MCA candidacy for GE13...

MCA distances itself from Hee, says she will lose without BN blessing

Datuk Hee Yit Foong will likely lose her Jelapang seat if she insists on contesting in the polls without Barisan Nasional's (BN) blessing, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said today, distancing his party from the former DAP leader who was instrumental in Pakatan Rakyat's (PR) fall in Perak.
Dr Chua clarified that despite Hee's claim to the media on Tuesday, MCA had neither discussed giving up contesting the Jelapang seat in Perak to an outsider nor agreed to field Hee as its candidate for the coming 13th general election.

He reminded Hee, who was once described as the “most hated woman in Perak”, that any decision on seat distribution in BN was made collectively as it is crucial for the candidate to receive support from both the voters and component parties.

“While Hee can announce that she is the candidate for Jelapang in the coming general election, without the support from the MCA division and especially the grassroots members, it is unlikely that she will win in the election,” he warned her.

Hee is known for her role in the 2009 Perak constitutional crisis which saw the state in turmoil for nearly a year after her defection, and that of two other former PKR representatives, caused the former Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government's fall from power.
At the time, the former Perak assembly deputy was said to have left the DAP in a huff, after repeatedly complaining to have been sidelined in the state administration and left out of positions of power.

She turned into a BN-friendly independent following her defection, a decision that earned her harsh criticism from Jelapang voters, most of whom are said to be hardcore DAP supporters.

Media reports in the months after she left DAP said Hee turned into an outcast in her own constituency, having to move around in a delegation complete with bodyguards to keep her safe from angry voters.

But in an interview with Oriental Daily published on Tuesday, Hee said she will recontest Jelapang “under the BN flag”, even adding that she would let Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announce the details later.

She boasted that anger against her had dissipated over the years following the Perak crisis, even adding that those who once took out newspaper advertisements to declare they no longer supported her have now returned to apologise.

According to Malaysiakini's report on the Oriental Daily interview, Hee also claimed that some voters have even told her, “Datuk, your service is no worse than theirs (DAP). If you contest again, they might not win!”

Hahahahahah!! or should that be Heeheeheeheehh!!! :)

This "running dog" thinks she is going to be rewarded with an MCA candidacy for GE13.

She, actually, thinks she has a chance to represent the constituents in Jelapang again!!

She seems to believe that the people of Jelapang have forgotten her treachery.

Hee Yit Foong, I am not a gambling man but I am willing to bet "London to a brick" that neither you nor any MCA candidate will win Jelapang in GE13 :) Don't waste your money contesting!!

BTW, Yit Foong, you really need to consult your doctor about changing the medication you are currently on - whatever it is, it ain't working!!!!

Have the people of Jelapang really forgotten the whole episode and forgiven her? This is seriously in doubt. If she has not been forgiven, than it makes no difference whether MCA or BN gives her their blessing to contest. She will probably still lose. As to her claim that DAP is not doing a good job in Jelapang, what then has she done? Let the people of Jelapang decide in the next GE.

The decision by BN to over throw PR in such a way will haunt BN in the next election. Now they know the problem having all these kataks is not an assets but liabilities.

With or without BN or MCA support she is a gonna. The voters in Jelapang voted for the party she represents, not on her own merits. Is it any wonder with the tag of "the most hated woman in Perak" will she ever get voted in again? Her betrayal has left an indelible mark of her traitorous acts in the heart and mind of not only the voters in Jelapang but on all right thinking people.

one malaysia gangnam style police scoundrel....Cops likely to be charged with rape of Indonesian

Will their faces be covered by hoods like this while being led to the court house?....gangnam style....gangnam style....!!!!

Three policemen are expected to face rape charges soon, following the completion of investigations into the alleged sexual assault of an Indonesian woman at a police station here.
The police have handed over its investigation papers on the case to the Attorney-General’s chamber for further instructions.

But Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi told a press conference today that the three suspects will be charged in court with rape once the police received final instructions from the AG.

“The three suspects are now still under remand until Nov 16 and have been interdicted from work,” he said.

The police had formed a special team to speed up investigations into the case, he said.

A total of 10 statements were recorded and the 25-year-old victim has been placed under the care of the Indonesian consulate.

Abdul Rahim said even though the suspects are low-ranking police personnel, he had ensured investigations into the case were thorough and not compromised.

“We hope the public will not speculate further on this case and let us do our job in resolving this case,” he said.

He also urged the public not to over-react as this could dampen the good relationship between Malaysia and Indonesia.

Acting Indonesian Consul-General Sofiana Mufidah, who was also present at the press conference, said they trust the Malaysian police will do the right thing in solving this case and bringing the perpetrators to book.

“I also want to urge Indonesians living in Penang, Malaysia and even those in Indonesia to stay calm,” she said.

She said many are probably upset that something like this had happened to an Indonesian citizen but hoped that they will let the Malaysian law takes its course to punish those responsible for the crime.

She alleged that she was taken to the police station after she showed a photocopy of her passport and the police refused to accept it.

She claimed that she was taken to a room at the police station and was raped by three policemen.

Abdul Rahim said they received the police report at 3.06pm on the same day and had arrested the three suspects at 5.45pm.

The suspects were brought to the magistrate’s court on Saturday, where a seven-day remand order was issued.

What is it with our policemen..they are poorly trained and probably poorly paid..some like in this case have zero morals and ethics...mana itu IGP. Stop wasting your time listening to UMNO and start doing your job. A competent police force is vital for the nation. Next time UMNO asks you fellas to blow up people and bash up citizens, know this....you are one of us...and if you dont do your job properly...we as a country go down.

So dissapointing the Police Force. We so depend to them for reduce crime rate...they become the criminal. Increase their salary, give them bonuses, better benefit, all that is Rakyat's money for the govt criminal.

They think the have rights to have guns...and above the law.....Embarassing the nation...

How can we trust in the authority of law enforcement with behaviour like this? They seem to be political lackeys mostly and gangsters the rest of the time. Disgusting abuse of power. They are low down scum.

We vote PR to clean up this mess ...

Singapore university terminates sex blogger’s scholarship...but in malaysia he may follow porn star father chua soi lek immune from the law...!!!

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has terminated the scholarship of sex blogger Alvin Tan, the republic’s Straits Times newspaper reported today.

But the Malaysian student was not expelled from NUS.

Instead, he will have to pay full, unsubsidised fees as a foreign student if he wants to complete his final year of law school.

The newspaper said that the punishment meted out to the 24-year-old had been a subject of much speculation since NUS announced last week that it would not be revealing the details of the penalty because disciplinary proceedings were private.

Yesterday, Singapore Education Minister Heng Swee Keat described the behaviour of Tan, who is a scholarship student in the republic, as “reprehensible and unbecoming of a scholar”.

Heng was responding in Singapore’s Parliament to MPs who demanded to know what punishment had been meted out by the National University of Singapore (NUS) to Tan.

Alvin was not expelled from NUS.

NUS had drawn public ire for its refusal to disclose how it is punishing the sex-blogging Malaysian scholar whom it found guilty of damaging its reputation.

Tan, the 24-year-old Asean scholar studying law at NUS, is at the centre of a controversy after he and his girlfriend posted in a joint blog photographs and videos of themselves having sex. He had been hauled up for disciplinary action last month.

Tan, a final-year law student, had apologised to NUS for “bringing disrepute” to the school but has insisted that what he did was done in his “own personal time as a private individual and not an NUS student”.

He also maintained that his action was a “victimless crime” and did not harm anyone.

The NUS student had said explicit photos and videos of himself and his girlfriend, Vivian Lee, going viral were “exciting”, according to Yahoo! Singapore.

On the site “Sumptuous Erotica”, Tan and Lee said they loved posting details of their sex life on the web “for everyone to enjoy” and that they uploaded only self-made content.

The blog has since been taken down.

Tan went to Singapore under an ASEAN scholarship in 2004 and attended Xinmin Secondary School and Raffles Junior College before he went to NUS.

He is based in Kuala Lumpur, where he has an online business. His mother helps to run a family business, while his father works in sales.

The couple also faces the possibility of criminal prosecution and jail time if convicted for exhibiting obscene material after they posted photographs and videos of themselves having sex on their blog.

Malaysian Police Commercial Crimes chief Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said recently that the authorities were considering taking action against the duo for violation of obscenity laws.

Under Section 292 of the Penal Code, the couple could be prosecuted for exhibiting obscene material.

The punishment under the law is imprisonment for a term of up to three years or a fine

No Problem. Alvin Tan should just put up his blog again and charge viewers/voyeurs to finance his studies.

or...If he still thinks that what he did was right he should move to America or Europe or wherever that embraces his online "performances".

Our society owes the person nothing. We do not have to put up with this kind of attitude.

There are still many other youngsters who do not get to enjoy university education. NUS would do the society better by giving another more deserving young adult a scholarship.

As long as chua soi lek does not have a problem,Alvin Tan will not have a problem. It is simple as that !

gabby najib altantuya to deceive indian people...you help me 1 help u syndrome against...Promise to cancel Batu Caves project is political bribery

It was “political bribery” for Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s to promise cancelling the controversial Batu Caves condominium project if Barisan Nasional (BN) recaptures Selangor, and accused the prime minister of abusing an emotive issue to woo Indian support.

It is bribery... very unbecoming of the Prime Minister,Particularly to speak to people from the lower income category in this manner... it is very unbecoming.

They don’t even have a safety net as far as health, education and housing is concerned and you dangle these sorts of rewards in front of them.

It is as good as telling them - you will be worst off if you don’t do this (vote for BN), and I (PM) won’t care for you if you don’t.

At the MIC’s national Deepavali open house at Batu Caves this morning, Najib promised to cancel the controversial luxury condominium being built near the venue but provided that the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition wins back Selangor from PR.

Despite holding state power, the Selangor PR government had not seen it fit to turn the issue into a political one, and chose instead to resolve it via consultation and discussion with the relevant parties.

It was unfair issue such ultimatums on voters, particularly since the issue was clearly a sensitive one to the Indian community.

Otherwise the Selangor government do not say ― if the Indians vote for them, they will definitely cancel the project.

What they have done is, they have issued a stop work order and their task force is now working on looking at different angles to solve this. In the end, they  will ensure that it is resolved amicably.

Najib’s words were similar to his “you help me, I help you” promise to Sibu voters during the 2010 by-election, which had earned the prime minister widespread criticism.

Najib should make an effort to resolve the issue, not issue a conditional promise. In his last-minute pitch at a DAP stronghold during the Sibu polls in May 2010, Najib had announced a RM5 million flood mitigation allocation for Rejang Park, provided that voters choose BN’s candidate for the seat, Robert Lau Hui Yew.

“I want to make a deal with you. Can we have an understanding or not? The understanding is quite simple.“I help you, you help me,” Najib had said in his announcement that was made just three hours before campaigning closed.

Lau later went on to lose the contest to DAP’s Sarawak DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng.

Selangor has ordered a temporary halt to the construction of the 29-storey condominium near Batu Caves pending the findings of an independent state-level task force to be set up soon, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said on Octber 30.

He, however, offered the state’s assurance that the matter would be resolved as soon as possible, admitting that the stop-work order would cost the developers financial losses.

The 29-storey Dolomite Park Avenue condominium project has turned into a political crisis as Batu Caves is the religious focal point of Hindu Indians, who form the majority of the 1.7 million Indians and are a key voting group in many urban seats in Selangor.

About 300 Hindu and non-governmental activists joined a “Save Batu Caves” rally in the Batu Caves temple complex to protest against the condominium construction on October 26, saying it was an environmental risk that would jeopardise the temple grounds but did not furnish proof to substantiate their allegations.

The project was given the nod by state authorities in 2007, but MIC and Barisan Nasional (BN) have in recent weeks pressured the current Pakatan Rakyat administration into calling a halt to the project amid a battle for Indian votes.

Aiya , this is a just a promise! Even if he wins he is going to ensure that Condo will be up! After all they are the ones who give the green light to proceed in the first place! The Indians as usual will be hoodwink with more fantastic promises!

so unbecoming of a PM status, childish and very very hard-up for votes. I really hope the Indians will realise what kind of government we have here,...

Najib's logics seems to be asking the robbery victims to be grateful and to pay a reward to the robbers for returning the victims' money!
