An undercurrent in Umno grows against Shahrizat over cattle scandal

When Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil closed the Wanita Umno general assembly on Wednesday, it appeared as if she had successfully deflected blame from herself over the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) controversy.

But it is believed that the cheers from the standing ovation that greeted her were mixed with silent jeers of disgust from the senior minister’s detractors, many of whom are rallying for her resignation.

Several senior Wanita leaders said Shahrizat (picture) had become a “liability” to Umno and should exit the limelight before the NFC scandal “destroys us all”.

But they said most delegates were “too afraid” to speak against their chief for fear of losing their posts in the party.

“She (Shahrizat) is using Wanita Umno to protect her but the issue (NFC) is not a Wanita (Umno) issue but a personal one involving her and her family.

“As a Wanita Umno member, I am very disappointed. A lot of us are disappointed... why drag Umno into this issue?” said one Wanita Umno delegate from Perak.

She added that she had remained seated when the sea of red-clad delegates rose to applaud Shahrizat during her winding-up speech.

She said Shahrizat should have explained the issue to delegates instead of fishing for support by claiming the scandal was merely a ploy by the opposition to weaken Wanita Umno.

“Do not forget, the first person to expose the issue about NFC’s weaknesses was the Auditor-General, not the opposition. So why attack the opposition to hide your own weakness?” she pointed out.

Shahrizat has been making headlines in recent weeks over the NFC controversy after its operations, run by a company owned by her husband, were described in the Auditor-General’s Report for 2010 as being “in a mess”.

But instead of explaining the issue, the minister chose instead to deflect blame from her by saying it had nothing to do with her. She also countered the opposition’s calls for her resignation by calling on PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to quit.

Shahrizat reportedly earned wild support from members during her speech, with one Kelantan Umno leader even calling the opposition “cattle” for raising the NFC scandal.

“But a lot of Wanita Umno members do not know the issue of the NFC... that is why they rose to support her. They do not know the issue.

“Wanita Umno, they are all like that,” the Perak delegate said with a sigh.

A senior Wanita Umno leader even advised The Malaysian Insider to “speak in private” to party delegates, many of whom she said would agree that Shahrizat should face the music for her alleged involvement in the NFC.

“Come on, they understand. It is your husband, so what do you mean it has nothing to do with you? If you were not a minister do you think your husband would have gotten the project?

“Who knows him from Adam?” she said.

Asked if Shahrizat was now viewed as a “liability” to Umno, both leaders agreed.

“Of course she is. Some are saying to PM — please do not have the election after the Chinese New Year because this NFC issue will not die… it will not be forgotten within this one or two months.

Shahrizat have not answered or tackle the issue. She don't know what to say. It was not the opposition who brought up this issue , it was the AG . However she must explain. How come she is saying , I have nothing to do with case. Don't tell me she does't know a soft loan was given to her family. Is she staying some way else or with her family? The wanita ummo delegates are giving a big plause for her speech not knowing what she is talking. Hand up for the perak delegate who brought this issue. You must be brave women. You must be in opposition camp for the rights of malaysia. Vote shahrizat out.

No one in the leadership including the component spineless parties have the guts or moral fibre to actively support calls for the pirate's resignation and take criminal proceedings against her. Why? Is there not a danger that she would then turn the tables against them for their own wrongdoings? Even the self proclaimed holiest of them will have to account for the C4 unleashed upon a pregnant woman. Welcome to the land ruled by pirates, thiefs and murderers and their families. They will win again for sure through any despicable means including use of force and deciet only to rape the nation over and over until the nation is dead. The criminals will never be brought to justice.

cows sitting in the condo...NFC case still open ...said the liar minister squid

Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today that Putrajaya has not closed the cattle scandal case linked to Cabinet minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s family although police investigations have not yet revealed any element of criminal breach of trust (CBT).

“Yes, just because the CBT element is not there doesn’t mean the case is over,” he told reporters when asked to comment on the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) controversy.

The home minister declined to comment further on the case but confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said yesterday that police had interviewed over 74 people in connection with the probe, including family members of the women, family and community development minister, but had discovered no element of CBT in the case.

“However, we are still continuing our investigations into the issue and will call the minister to record her statement if the need arises,” he had said.

PKR has repeatedly attacked the project with various allegations including the “loans” of over RM84 million given by the NFC to companies owned by Shahrizat’s family and the purchase of two luxury condominiums in Bangsar for RM13.8 million.

Shahrizat has since deflected blame from herself several times, telling delegates during the ongoing assembly that the scandal has nothing to do with her.

The senior minister also reportedly received wild support from delegates when she countered the opposition’s calls for her resignation by urging PKR president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to do the same over her husband, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s criminal charges.

But some delegates are uncomfortable that the women’s wing leader had chosen to use the allegations to attack the opposition instead of explaining herself.

When asked today if Shahrizat was now considered a “liability” to Umno because of the scandal, Hishammuddin deflected the question, saying the public would decide the minister’s fate.

“I think at the end of the day the public is going to decide the fate of Umno, not the people who talk … whether (she is) a liability or not, we will know in the next GE (general election,” he said.

The NFC has been dogged by allegations of corruption and fund misappropriation after the company made it onto the pages of the Auditor-General’s Report for 2010, which described the project “as a mess”.

Among others, PKR has alleged that NFC funds were used for Shahrizat’s personal expenses and that of her family, as well as to buy multimillion ringgit condominium units at the luxurious One Menerung in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.

Shahrizat’s husband and NFC boss Datuk Seri Mohamad Salleh Ismail has defended the purchase of the condo as well as denied the alleged failure of the project.

PKR scoffed at Mohamad Salleh’s remarks, saying he had failed to deny a single allegation and had merely offered explanations for the many discrepancies involving the NFC

I wonder if she still sleep with her accomplice and what foreplay and cheat chat they have prior to orgasm. U don gimme cow, I don't give you orgasm.

There is no CBT between her and hubby but there's definitely CBT between her and the rakyat

NFC = NFA
as usual done by this corrupted government and cronies..

With that kind of money, soon the family will be going to Oxford to do a PhD permanently. Wait, didn't someone else do the same after some very serious allegations?

They drily dally concluding with the case, hoping that Malaysians suffer from senile disease cause if they convict Lingam or MAS, many unseen hands would be implicated in the process.. Looking at PKFZ and NFC, these cases would also follow the same trend. Only way to bring those involved is to give the Opposition your undivided support.

This Cowgate case is really the joker of the year.

The cops must be extremely blind or uneducated to says that there is no CBT.

The term CBT can only applied to anyone except the corrupt UMNO!

What a joke? No wonder our neighbor countries are have a good laugh at us! They must be thinking that we are the Zimbabwe

Shahrizat is ‘cow minister of the year’

Wanita PKR said today it was shameful for Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil to equate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy trial with allegations of the abuse of over RM250 million in public funds in the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) scandal.

Shahrizat had said this morning that PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail should also resign after the opposition party had called for the Wanita Umno chief to quit politics as the national cattle farming project was awarded to her husband.

“It is shameful and reflects the typical Wanita Umno mentality. This is the wrong analogy — sodomy and the abuse of public funds.

“She really deserves the title of cow minister of the year,” women’s wing chief Zuraida Kamaruddin told a press conference today.

The Ampang MP has repeatedly called for women, family and community development minister Shahrizat to resign as the NFC is being investigated for cheating and criminal breach of trust over its purchase of two luxury condominium units here with government funds.

NFC executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail is Shahrizat’s husband.

But Shahrizat said today, “I have nothing to do with it (the fiasco), why ask me to resign?”

“Today, I challenge all (PKR Wanita members) to call for Wan Azizah’s resignation because of her husband (PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), who has been punished and charged for offences that cannot even leave my lips,” she said.

The Cabinet minister has been under pressure from both opposition and Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to quit the Cabinet after a host of allegations emerged in recent weeks about improprieties involving the NFC, a national cattle project managed by her family.

Among the issues that have been raised by PKR are the use of public funds to acquire luxury condominiums worth RM13.8 million and the possible use of company money as personal expenditure by the minister’s family.

Zuraida also added today that although Wanita Umno delegates had defended their leader, “the real judge is the public who will vote soon.”

“Now they will judge not just the Wanita Umno chief but all parties in Barisan Nasional,” she said.

It is hoped that the Cow Minister is not sacked by UMNO and use her as an election candidate. So that the Rakyat will have a chance to sack her and at the same time sack those who have blindly supported her. Please , please , please , keep her there and other brainless supporters for the RAYKAT to sack them. Let the RAYKAT deliver the KOs right into their face.

it's the rakyat's money, so you have to be responsible. Don't compare with Kak Azizah, she didn't cheat the rakyat's money and whatever Anwar did(if it is true, which I doubt), he is ultimately answerable to Azizah. Anyways, we want to see you in jail but we do not wish to be in hell to meet you. Cheers!

Do you think all wanita UMNO members think that you are innocent?? MY FOOT!! I am sure many are talking behind your back and please, leave Kak Wan alone. Be a woman and RESIGN!! Shameless Shahrizat @#%&

What is your response to all the BN MP's,Bung Mokhtar &Co who also wanted you to resign immediately .I want your response.Show us you are a real woman leader you claim to be or else just shut up.

That is the reason why after more than 30 years, NEP which is suppose to help poor bumiputra and malay still can not be achieved.

There are 2 different things between Sharizat and Wan Azizzah.No. 1 Sharizat does not practise the true teaching in Islam. She did a wrong and she claim it is right. 2. Her hair can be seen like Rosmah where the Quran instruct Muslims women to cover their aurat like Zuraida and Azizah.
Whilst Azizah stand by her man is because it took UMNO 13 years to bring anwar down by framing him in sodomy 1 and 2 and video sex. Azizah is a true muslim and abide by quran and the islamic teaching. She fight because she knew something is wrong with UMNO.

Muhyiddin uses race card, urges Malays to reject Pakatan

Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin exploited the race card tonight when he urged Umno to defend the Malay race, culture and institutions from the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Hitting out at the DAP in particular, he accused the PR party of being an anti-Islam and anti-Malay force.

Muhyiddin (picture) also dismissed PKR as a spent force interested only in championing the cause of one man, and PAS as a party that had shed its Islamic ideology to please the DAP.

“(The DAP) do not respect royal institutions, insult government officers who are mostly Malay, slander our armed forces with insults, dispute our enforcement institutes, dismiss the credibility of our justice system and make a fool out of the Malays to gain power for themselves,” he said when opening Umno’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings’ annual general assemblies here.

“DAP’s agenda to form a republic by dismissing values, history and identity of Malaysia as a nation based on sovereignty and Islam as the official religion is evident,” he added.

“If not, do they dare suggest the prime minister’s position be selected based solely on elections and without being chosen by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong? What is the meaning of this?”

Speaking to about 4,000 delegates from the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings, Muhyiddin called PKR an ultraliberal party lacking moral values for electing a leader with a credibility crisis to head the party.

“They preach values that are against our culture in the name of freedom,” he said.

“Although one facet in PKR preaches religion and another preaches ultraliberalism, they have only one goal — to defend their leader.”

He pointed out that PAS has lost its way by placing both PKR and the DAP’s agendas before its own.

“It is clear the political tsunami during the last general election has drowned out the Islamic state ideology from PAS’s political lexicon,” he said, prompting laughter.

Assuring the crowd that Umno has risen from the political tsunami of 2008, Muhyiddin urged delegates to unite and strive to defend religion, race and country.

“Umno has shown its commitment by uniting people of all races... We shall not stir hatred with other races. We shall not insult other races. We shall not be prejudiced towards other cultures. We are not racist like DAP’,” he said.

Here he goes again! Championing race and religion.....undoing all the damage control undertaken by Najib. After being warned by the PM several times, not to use the race and religious card!!! Watch out Najib, I see a new UMNO President and a new PM in the making

Its confirmed that umno is a racist party and plague with disease and distinct to die. Why should we the malay not vote for pkr and pas?

you can see where Najib stands in UMNO now! It only confirms our suspicions that UMNO is so divided to the core! So rotten to the core! UMNO is just a party of racists! Just like MCA, which UMNO is allegedly subservient too.

This ungrateful DPM is conspiring with Ahmad Mazlan to unseat Najib. He know BN is not going to hv a 2/3 majority. SO to ensure the results status quo, he is taking away the Chinese votes from MCA last strong hold in Johor to under mind a 2/3 BN victory. Smart move. Najib will be force to play into his race card during his Presidential speech....

Pakatan sees rural vote gain from NFC cattle scandal

Faced with Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s moves to woo the urban vote by restoring civil liberties, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) lawmakers believe the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) cattle scandal comes at an “opportune time” for them to win over Barisan Nasional’s (BN) traditional vote bank of farmers and rural folk.

The issue has cast a spotlight on the cavalier spending of public funds by minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s family who runs the RM250 million project, at a time when Malaysians are forced to tighten their belts in a souring economy.

File photo of cows grazing in the National Feedlot Centre in Gemas. Pakatan MPs believe the NFC scandal, which is about cows, resonates heavily with kampung folk.
Among others, the scandal involves allegations that millions of ringgit meant to help Malaysia meet her demand for beef have gone to purchase luxurious condominium units, fund umrah trips to Mecca and set up Shahrizat’s family’s Singapore-based companies.

Since the scandal broke, the senior Cabinet minister appears to have shied away from the public eye, skipping two Cabinet meetings and a host of events.

“The NFC could not have come at a more opportune time when the economy is clearly slowing, commodity prices are falling and the prices of basic goods and services are rising,” the DAP’s Tony Pua told The Malaysian Insider.

PAS’s Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, noting that economic issues still remain a key factor in the tussle for votes, described the scandal as “a real gift” to PR.

He said such issues, if packaged well, would touch Malaysians of all socio-economic backgrounds, rural and urban alike.

“Corruption in government procurement, how much these wastages have hurt our pockets, made our lives more miserable... the kampung folk can relate to this,” the Kuala Selangor MP said.

He said that “middle Malaysia issues”, such as the push for greater democracy, individual freedom and electoral reforms, while important, largely impact the urbanites and middle- to upper-income groups, many of whom are already opposition sympathisers.

As such, he stressed that PR could not bank its hopes entirely on championing these issues if it wants to wrest the rural vote from BN.

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar agreed that “middle Malaysia issues” are PR’s “forte” and said that “if done right”, Najib’s latest round of reforms could spell a five to 10 per cent vote shift for BN.

But, she said, the “quarter-baked BN-approved Bills”, like the Peaceful Assembly Bill tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, had lost Najib any votes gained earlier in his favour.

“This hurts him tremendously as the original intent from his Malaysia Day pledges was to win over middle Malaysia,” she told ..

Najib appeared to enter damage control mode after his administration suffered international condemnation over its handling of the Bersih 2.0 July 9 rally and embarked on a campaign aimed at shining his reformist image.

After forming the parliamentary select committee for electoral reforms, the prime minister raised eyebrows during his Malaysia Day message on September 15 when he promised to repeal the Internal Security Act (ISA) and amend security and press laws to allow greater civil liberties.

He then moved on Tuesday to table the Peaceful Assembly Bill and two days later, promised to lift the ban on student politics, a move the opposition claims was designed to woo young voters.

But PR believes the prime minister’s silence since the NFC scandal hit the headlines would still ring louder than his promises for reform.

“The scandal isn’t just your routine financial scandal that tends to have little traction among the rural community.

“It is a scandal about cows which resonates heavily with the kampung folk who are more familiar with the bovine industry,” said Pua.

“The association of a top Umno leader and family to the project will also cause Umno to lose further trust from their core supporters, he added.

Why put so much faith on govt. scandal after scandal never ending story self serving corrupted minister are the main cause of misery to the people.

Sharizat is always there to see Najib & Rosmah off on overseas trips, and to welcome them back.

Like Rosmah, she also makes it a point to have her pictures frequently in the papers ...pretending to kiss and hug less privileged children.

Now she has disappeared from view. Is she holed up in a luxury apartment in London, New York or Paris, bought with public money?

Yes, highlight the NFC issue. The rakyat is suffering and these cronies are enjoying our money like no tomorrow ... what the hell is this ??? This family and all related parties should be investigated and jailed !!

‘political reality’ to have Malay PM...but may be one day the day will come when the PM of Malaysia is a "true" Mongolian...ha ha ha...!!!

Lim Guan Eng rubbished talk today of amending the Constitution to guarantee a Malay prime minister, claiming Malaysians have accepted the “political reality” that the post “must” be given to the country’s largest ethnic community.

He said suggesting such amendments was “racist and superfluous” as it treated non-Malays as if they were second-class citizens.

“No non-Malay political leader has even talked about wanting to be prime minister because Malaysians accept the political reality that the prime minister of Malaysia must come from the Malay community,” he said in a statement here.

On Friday, PKR Youth challenged Umno to amend the Constitution to guarantee a Malay prime minister but Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim later clarified that this was neither his party’s stand nor that of Pakatan Rakyat (PR).

Lim (picture) pointed out that the highest political posts now available to non-Malays were ministers and the Penang chief minister’s position, which he now holds.

But the DAP secretary-general said that although the Malays dominated top leadership posts, including positions in the civil service, police and army, his party and the Penang government had never threatened to usurp power from the community.

“DAP has never carried out such a campaign because DAP considers all Malays as Malaysians who have an equal right as any other Malaysian to be in these sectors,” he said.

“This is evident in the open tender system where 70 per cent of Penang government contracts are won by Malays, proving the Malay contractors are competitive; only Umno crony contractors are useless,” he said.

Lim also recalled Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s controversial “Malay first and Malaysian second” declaration last year, saying it showed that “1 Malaysia” was an empty slogan designed to win votes.

Lim claimed the slogan would be rapidly discarded after the next general elections.

“What is surprising is that Muhyiddin does not consider illogical or inconsistent with pursuing a strictly racial Malay agenda with the agenda of other non-Malay Malaysians,” Lim said, adding that the deputy prime minister “even pursues DAP leaders are Chinese chauvinists even though DAP has fought for all Malaysians”.

“DAP is no threat to Malays. Only Umno is a threat to Malays and Malaysians with its open acceptance and defence of repressive violation of basic human rights, corruption and abuse of power.”

Lim accused Umno of using such threats to justify and cover up its numerous financial and corruption scandals.

He cited the latest exposes of excessive expenditure of RM3.7 billion by government departments in the 2010 Auditor-General’s report and the National Feedlot Centre scandal, where a company related to a minister was accused of misusing public funds to buy luxury condominiums.

“Umno has consistently undertaken a remorseless campaign of lies and fear against the DAP to scare the Malays that their rights and interests are being threatened,” Lim said, adding Malaysians did not “need a corrupt and racialist party like Umno to protect them”.

Umno has repeatedly accused PR of selling out the Malays to Chinese and foreign interests, insisting that the Malays can only be protected if Barisan Nasional (BN) remains in power.

Since the landmark Election 2008 where PR denied BN its customary two-thirds majority in parliament and five state governments, the Malays have swung back towards the ruling coalition even as Chinese support for the federal opposition has increased.

Racial tension has also heightened over the past few years especially with repeated allegations that Muslims are being proselytised.

Yes, the day will come when the PM of Malaysia is a Mongolian, let alone a Chinese or Indian. If we keep on strengthening our racial and religious stance , we would never go far but remain a second rated nation on this small earth. How long are we going to be before we matured and live as one family ? Or should we refuse to grow but remain children?

We should be prepared by now to accept a central government for the whole earth. Is not the United Nations mean to govern the earth? But remain a small player till today. Be prepared . For the day is coming when a king will rule the earth.
