Khairy and Kit Siang calls on PM to ‘not ignore’ anti-Warisan calls

Share
Since the announcement of the 100 storey Warisan Merdeka project by the prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Budget 2011, there has been constant protests and objections from the opposition bench while a Facebook page has received more than 200,000 comments calling for the project to be revoked. The lawmakers from the Pakatan Rakyat has called on Najib not to ignore these protests because they represent the voice of people. Joining in this chorus is Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang said “Najib could not ignore the online campaign as doing so would cost him support among the youth in the next general election. I think it’s a phenomenon that Najib cannot disregard. (If he ignores), young people will be very turned off by Najib’s arrogance and indifference to their views. Definitely, there will be a heavy price (to pay) in the next election. The prime minister’s dismissal of the protest would undermine his credibility as he has stressed the importance of reaching out to young Malaysians. If he ignores this phenomenal response among ordinary Malaysians...it’s just making a mockery of his statement and undermining his own credibility. His premiership will take a major knock among Malaysians, particularly among the young Malaysians who make use of the social media whom he’s trying to reach,”

Khairy shared a similar sentiment saying that “Clearly, it’s something we cannot ignore. Anything that manages to get 200,000 followers in the space of less than two weeks is clearly something quite significant. It’s an indication of how Malaysians, especially young Malaysians, feel. So the government has to take these sentiments seriously. The government and PNB needed to engage the protestors although the project may not be cancelled due to the campaign. I’m not saying that this should result in the project being cancelled, but it does acknowledge for the government, for PNB, to engage with some of the arguments that has been made and come up with a strategy that addresses some of the concerns. Some of the comments are easily addressed, like it’s a waste of government funds. You can explain that it’s not government funds. If you ignore it, you’re not even explaining it. People will say they ignored us for the 100-storey building, then another issue...another issue. So it’s best to address things. The whole point of us being on social media...is for us to make sure we can engage with people,”

Name 'warisan' but behind this name is ' CON-risan '. Whether this project proceed or not it does not matter to PNB & Umno.

PNB bought the land for a dirt cheap price rm310 million @ rm220.00 per sq. ft. and the land price appreciated to more than RM800 per sq ft today. By doing nothing, they can made hundreds of millions.

If the high rise is build, then another fat bonus ro PNB/Umno, they can rent this tower for an 'exorbitant price' to our federal government ( just in the PutraJaya's case). In the end, the rakyat will be a 'double sucker' in this project.
