Penang Chief Minister official blog police report.

GEORGE TOWN : A police report has been lodged by the Penang Government over the use of a internet profile purportedly of chief minister Lim Guan Eng to make racially-sensitive postings on the internet.

Lim’s polical secretary, Ng Wei Aik, who lodged the report, urged police to investigate and track down the person or persons using the profile “LimGuanEngBlog” who has been spreading lies about Lim and the Penang state government.

“We first noticed this ‘fake’ profile in the middle of last year but we did not pay much attention to it at that time, as it did not post much,” he told reporters outside the George Town police headquarters in Jalan Patani here, after lodging the report.

However, from early this year, the people behind the “LimGuanEngBlog” profile started posting mischievious statements, such as alleging that Lim and the Penang state government has banned silat in Penang and also banned National Civics Bureau to remove Malay special rights for the sake of unity, Ng claimed.

Ng said the lies were spread in various other blogs including blogs owned by Umno members and these had touched on racial sentiments which could cause social disturbances and racial tension.
