Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today called Wee Choo Keong a “substandard MP” and described the PKR turned independent lawmaker as the Chinese version of Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali.
Khairy tweeted his remarks while Choo Keong was questioning Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong during the debate on the Subordinate Courts (Amendment) Bill 2010 in Parliament.
“Quality of Wee Chee Keong’s (sic) interventions are extremely poor. I think he’s a substandard MP,” said Khairy in his tweet to MCA Youth chief Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.
“I think he’s the Chinese version of Ib Ali (Ibrahim Ali),” he added.
Khairy was making an apparent reference to the similarities between Choo Keong and Ibrahim because both had been members of various political parties in their careers.
The fiery Perkasa chief was recently embroiled in bitter verbal spats with Khairy and Ka Siong recently over Malay rights.
Khairy also expressed hope that MCA would not take in Choo Keong as a member.
Ka Siong replied, also via Twitter, that Choo Keong could never “rejoin” the party.
Ka Siong claimed that Choo Keong was an MCA member in the 1980s and that he staged a “piket in front of MCA” and quit the party after that.
“He rejoins MCA? No way,” tweeted Ka Siong.
The former PKR MP turned independent lawmaker is well known as a former DAP man.
He was elected as Bukit Bintang MP on the party’s ticket in 1990.
Choo Keong was unceremoniously kicked out of DAP in 1998 after being accused of damaging the party’s image and later went on to form the insignificant Malaysian Democratic Party (MDP).
The DAP renegade then joined PKR before Election 2008 and went on to win the Wangsa Maju seat with a slim majority of 150.
In May this year, the Wangsa Maju MP left PKR to become an independent, citing disappointment with the party’s leadership’s handling of the Selangor sand-mining scandal and said that “little Napoleons and trendy leftists” were taking control of PKR.

Ibrahim Ali is the biggest loser here. Being used as a benchmark for all things ridiculous is possibly the worst legacy one can leave behind.
