A police report containing allegations made in a letter against Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has been referred to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
MACC deputy commissioner Datuk Abu Kassim Mohammed, who confirmed this, said the commission had received information on the case from the police, which had referred the matter to anti-graft agency.
“We are the body that conducts investigations into corrupt cases. We will study and will look into the report before deciding on appropriate action,” he told reporters at the commission’s Hari Raya open house on Monday.
When asked for further elaboration, Abu Kassim refused to divulge details, including when the report was handed over to them, adding he could not furnish reporters with information on the case as confidentiality needed to be protected,
“We are looking into the case and as usual, we need to protect its confidentiality. Please be patient and do not speculate anything (about the case). Let us do our job,” he said.
The allegations against Liow, who is also MCA deputy president, were made in an unsigned letter which is being widely circulated on the Internet and published in the news portal Malaysia Today.
The report was lodged by DAP’s Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng and PKR’s Kelana Jaya MP Loh Gwo Burne at the Sentul police station on Sunday.
The letter alleged that a company often awarded projects by the ministry had bought a multi-purpose vehicle for Liow’s wife for RM574,884.10.
It also said payments had been made into her account.

Willing to bet that the investigations will either end up with NFA (no further action) or be delayed until everyone has forgotten about it. Also there will be no associated suicides.
