Giving BR1M better than reducing petrol prices, says Najib

 

Giving the 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) is more beneficial than reducing petrol prices as promised by the opposition, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.

The prime minister said the needy would benefit more from the giving of BR1M.

“We reduce the petrol price, who profits? The rich also profit, the rich driving big cars also profit, tourists also profit, illegal immigrants also profit, petrol sellers also profit.

“If we give BR1M, who profits? The people... now we (the needy) get five pieces (of RM100 notes),” he said asking the people to compare whether reducing petrol prices was more beneficial than giving BR1M.

He said this at a gathering with the people of the Bagan Serai parliamentary constituency here.
