Perkasa Youth chief quits

Share

Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha Abu Hanifah confirmed today he is quitting his post with immediate effect, in a development suggesting a split in the Malay rights group.

His announcement confirmed a report in The Malaysian Insider this morning that he was resigning amid speculation about serious infighting because of disagreement among the top leaders over the way the group is being managed.

He said, however, that he would remain a member of Perkasa.

Perkasa could face a serious split with Arman’s (picture) resignation.

Perkasa was formed by Datuk Ibrahim Ali after 2008 to address and champion what the Pasir Mas MP claimed was a gradual erosion of Malay rights after the last general election.

“I am announcing my resignation today as Perkasa Youth chief to give a chance to the younger generation to lead.

“I hope the new leadership will bring Perkasa to greater heights,” Arman said.

He said his resignation was not a result of pressure or problems within Perkasa.

The Perkasa man said, however, that it was now clear that an NGO like Perkasa could not achieve its aims without political power.

Besides Arman, the women’s wing chief Raihan Sulaiman Palestine had also announced her decision to quit her post last month.

why arman, why you quit? Why, why, why? You were doing just great shouting yourself hoarse on ketuanan this and ketuanan that? Were you offered a political position in the PM's office or cabinet thereby paving your way to instant fame and riches???

Perkasa are just trouble-makers for the country. Because of their instigations, the Malay community is divided. It's fine if they fight for equal rights : Perkasa is just fighting for inequal rights (in their favour) - that is not in the true spirit of Malaysia.
