Azmin probed for sedition, illegal assembly
PKR deputy president Azmin Ali confirmed today he’s under investigation for sedition and holding an illegal assembly.
The police are looking into the talk he held at his service centre last week, under Section 27(5) of the Police Act and Section 1 of the Sedition Act.
Azmin said he was “surprised” to find out that the officer who recorded his statement had not read the police report made against the Gombak MP.
He said the 18 questions put to him had instead been written up by the Selangor police contingent headquarters (IPK).
His lawyer, N. Surendran, said he was “shocked” by the questions asked, which suggested that Malaysia was a “police state” or “dictatorship”.
Surendran said Azmin was asked if the content of his ceramah could incite the people to fight the government and if the popular revolts in Egypt and Tunisia were brought up during the event.
“The questioning today was nothing more than harassment, intimidation of the representative who was carrying out his duties,” Surendran said.
“The questioning was simply in order to prevent the opposition from questioning government policies.”
The March 25 PR function in Taman Melawati, Gombak turned ugly when policemen attempted to stop Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from speaking, resulting in an angry mob attacking the police.
Anwar, who was the last speaker for the night, had spoken for 13 minutes when the police intervened, as the PKR de facto leader was only given 15 minutes to speak.
Azmin questioned today why similar action was not taken against deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for openly holding a political function at Kampung Pandan last night.
Azmin said his lawyers will take legal action against the government, Home Minister, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ampang Jaya OCPD and senior police officers who ordered the raid for disrupting the ceramah, trespass, assault and unlawful arrests.
“We will take them to court. It is to ensure that the police act according to the law and do not oppress the people,” Surendran added.

Police never have any issue with Perkasa on sedition???That's why we should vote for the end of UMNO/BN
UMNO police will be blind and deaf to Pekasa's inflammatory provocations or illegal demonstrations and Utusan's racist / seditious articles because they are Umno-sanctioned. Others will be charged without any hesitation ??
Malaysia police is good for nothing. When talk about PR, they start arrest. But when talk about BN, no action due to lack of evidence. Who dont know the police? Malaysia poilice is good of begging Malaysian for money.
Our police do not have many real talents except for 'ball-carriers'. Real talents do not get you promotions, doing UMNO's biddings does as can be seen with our previous top officers.
At the end of the day, the development only encourage a certain crooked lot to stay on and prosper and people with even the slightest sense of dignity and model conscience leaves the force.
From the observation, what's the difference between these bunch of clowns in blue as compared with legalized thugs?
