Selangor PAS denies supporting Khusrin pick
Selangor PAS today denied that it supports the appointment of Datuk Khusrin Munawi as the state secretary and stressed that it would back the state government’s move to amend the constitution.
Selangor PAS information chief Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir also defended the party’s state chief Datuk Hasan Ali, saying he has always been consistent with Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders on the issue.
Roslan added that Selangor PAS would continue to oppose any form of interference by the federal government in the appointment of senior state government officers.
“Selangor PAS would like to stress that the statement made by Datuk Hasan yesterday (January 12) at the Gombak Setia community service centre on the appointment of Selangor state secretary was consistent with the stand of the party and the president,” said Roslan in a statement.
He added that Hasan’s statement had been manipulated to create the perception that the party was not in agreement with its PR partners.
Roslan said the Selangor PAS was also considering taking action against news site Malaysiakini for what he described as its misleading report.
He said that Hasan and senior leaders from Selangor PAS also met with party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday to show him the video clip of the press conference.
Hasan, a Selangor executive councillor, was reported to have said that the party would be able to co-operate with Khusrin and warned the state government against attacking the former Islamic affairs department chief, adding that this would affect the relationship with civil servants.
The report resulted in a reminder from PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali for the state party leaders not to contradict PR leaders.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has rejected the January 1 appointment of Khusrin, claiming that he was not consulted despite the state ruler’s agreement to the selection.
The state government is also planning to amend the state constitution on January 24 to restore its powers in the appointment its own senior officers.
The state government had organised a special prayers session and a public rally to address the issue of Khusrin’s appointment at the Melawati Stadium in Shah Alam.
The event was also attended by Hadi and PAS spiritual advisor, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

UMNO is working hard to create confusion ...divide the opposition, sow discords between palace and state government, pit Malays against non-Malays ...if any of these pick up and become a crisis, the Federal government will then come in and take over the State government.
