The DAP’s Gobind Singh described today as “laughable” the deputy prime minister’s call for Selangor to “arrest and take action against” alleged illegal sand mining in the state.
The Puchong MP released a statement today in response to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s remarks about alleged illegal sand mining.
According to Gobind, the power to prosecute lies in the hands of the Attorney General and not the state government, under Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
The authority with the powers to arrest and investigate matters relating to corruption is the MACC.
“This is again, clearly an example of baseless accusations against the state government of Selangor by the DPM,” he said.
Gobind said Muhyiddin should instead ask the MACC for evidence of illegal sand mining in Selangor and whether the state government was involved.
He said if the MACC had such evidence, it should explain its inaction.
“If the MACC has no reply to this, then the DPM should demand for the resignation of the head of the MACC,” he said.
Muhyiddin had slammed the state today saying Selangor should not remain inactive because the matter came under its jurisdiction.
“With respect, the DPM has clearly got his guns pointed at the wrong direction and this is, quite frankly for a person of his standing, laughable,” Gobind said.

Another stupid accusation by the dpm. This morning he issued a statement that everyone can form their own Perkasa. But, the fact is he does not understand how irresponsible Perkasa under Ibrahim al Katak had been.
This Government is beyond cure and it is best stale and old faces like Moo Hee Din be voted out come the next election. Do you want him as your PM?

The DPM does not realized that the illegal sand mining started way before Pakatan took over the state. Ask Khir Toyo and he may trow some light about the whole scenario. Corruption started from his era and stop blaming Pakatan. He is still unable to explain to the people in Selangor about his palace. Would somebody please plaster his loud mouth forever. Whatever BN says nowadays the people will not trust them. People of Malaysia get ready for change.
